  1. PS: All those who have my mobile number, could you please txt me with your name. I lost all my contacts last week in a cycling related phone death. Thanks a lot, Ben.
  2. Big thanks to Paul McDonald and all the marshalls and helpers. A really well put together event and a cracking course, especially liked that freewheelin' swooping down hill bit. So we need'nt of packed the suncream but it would'nt be Scotland without a downpour i suppose. I think paul judged the groups well in that the chasing pack only caught the first group half way around the last lap. I'm suprised the first group was caught at all due to the slow pace of lap 3 and 4 and little to no chaingang cooperation going on. Was only when Paul shouted that "We are racing for 30th place right now" that actions were taken. Respect due to Gordon Murdoch and David Thomson for a long breakaway spell that was the start of the split. So happy to of won a road race, i can hang up my Sidi's now and die a happy man. Well done the Joansin riders, many of whom were in the mix at the end, many happy faces today and i'm sure the memory of Jim Daly lifted folk to ride harder. Ben.
  3. Hi Kenny, I had my Large bib-shorts repaired by Endura back in december but have not received them back. I wonder if they sent them to you instead of the address i gave. However, two pairs would be charlie and gregs. If Billy can confirm that the third pair are his then i will get on the blower to endura again. Cheers, Ben
  4. I did get a copy mr pirate. Infact, i got two! (One for me mother) Embaressed at the photo, i look like i jumped the asylum wall.
  5. Hi Folks, I wont make this one as working at 3pm. I wont make Sinclair St either as i have 2012 TT curtain raiser in Irvine. Go hard or go home! - Enjoy!!!
  6. Hi folks, I was in tkmaxx on sauchiehall st on wednesday and they have in stock 6 Briko 'Arrow' helmets in Team Liqiugas colours (lime green! i like it anyway!) Carbon trim, in boxes. Very nice looking lid as helmets go. £16.99. They are all size SMALL though. Gutted! A bargain for someone though. Ben
  7. See you all at 9.45. Kenny Christie y Richard, i may see you on the road into Johnstone. I live in Shawlands now though so it wont be on paisleyroadwest. Looking forward to it!
  8. Great work organising last night Ian, it looked as though everyone was having a good time so job well done. Good work on the mike 'MC Steele'. you are a natural on stage, i bet you would rock a curry-oke night. I, on the other hand need to work on my public speaking:oops: Well done all prize winners esp, Tom Hill. (titter titter!) I can't believe hearing Kenny MacDonald that the jwcc was once close to folding. Hard to believe given the strength of the club now. Thankyou JWCC for a year i'll never forget. Ben
  9. Looking forward to this Stevie. I've lifted the dust sheet off the Raleigh Bomber ready for deployment. Cant wait to taste the soil in my beard once again, as for dress? Thinking smart/casual Miami Vice. See you all there. Happy mid-winter! Ben
  10. Hi folks, I am moving flats on monday 19th and we cant take this desk with us. It served Jo throughout her time at uni and is in excellent condition, no dings or coffee rings. Bought from Ikea for £120 if i remember rightly. Will accept £50. It has deep drawer and a cupboard space for storage. Dimensions: (W) 140cm x (H) 73CM X (D) 65CM. Not too heavy, just awkward for us too haul up to the top floor of our new tenement. Buyer will need to uplift and before monday. PM me if interested. Merry Mid-Winter, Ben.
  11. Both seams ripped on my bibs too. Sewn back up with my best Frankenstein stitches, but expected better from Endura.
  12. Cheers for all the nice words folks. Mark, the Butchers Bike is nearly ready for winter and will be deployed very soon!!!!
  13. Hi Folks, First of all i would like to express my sincere thanks to everybody in jwcc who made me feel very welcome right from the start of me joining the club last october. So many people in jwcc and the cycling community have gone out of their way to help me that i have found my introduction to competitive cycling quite humbling, which contradicts all the negative opinions i have heard about the sport. I have never doubted that i made the right choice when picking a club to join. I have received great advice and encouragement from many people and i feel it is the courteous thing to do to keep you abreast of my plans for the coming 2012 season. My goals for next year are clear. I want to improve my TT performances significantly and compete in some races down south and see what all the fuss is about with their fast 'drag strips'. I want to transfer my TT skills to the velodrome and compete as much as i can starting with the friday night winter track league. I loved what taste of track racing i had in Manchester at the national champs this year and crave more! I also want to learn to Wheelie Taking all that into consideration, i feel the best move for me at this point is to join Paisley Velo Racing Team. A brand new cycling club with big ambitions that will hopefully drive me to meet my own. However, i do not wish to leave jwcc and i intend to maintain my membership (dual club membership is accepted by BC) and continue to be an active member of the club out riding with the fast bunch and competing in the summer confined events which i really enjoy and is excellent training. My switch to pvrt simply means that when i compete in open events that i wear a different skinsuit. Call me naive, but It is not my intention to ruffle feathers or put anyone's nose out of place. So if me being a member of jwcc but riding for pvrt is a problem, then i would hope that someone will tell me as i respect the club and your opinions. I am really looking forward to the coming season but there is a whole winter sea of lactic to swim through before heading to the westferry once again. Best of luck to you all in your winter training. Dig in',.......... and leave the chocolate alone at crimbo. Best regards, Ben Peacock.
  14. Thanks a lot for leading that run Tony, really enjoyed it. Cheers James for fixing my puncture. I have been waiting for an opportunity to use my tiny Blackburn Airstick. 100psi from a pump no bigger than an Ikea hotdog, impressive. Ben.
  15. The rain made the descent of the Dukes a bit sketchy for me as i have not ridden that road, infact i was thankful when Jamie Kennedy of the Couriers overtook me at the top and i could follow his wheel/spray. if its dry next year, i will shave minutes of my course time. The rolling and flatish sections were fast, i made up time on these. Given all the twists and turns, climbs and descents, it offered lots of oppurtunity to get your breath back and it was only on the Dukes climb that i was truly in the 'red zone'. A great course and experience gained, definately ride again next year. Ben
  16. I cannot do Sunday either, a shame as i was looking forward to this. Already made plans to go collecting wild mushrooms in a wood near Aberfeldy. Good luck to those who ride. Ben
  17. Thanks a lot folks for all your words of support, very much appreciated. What a fantastic two days down in the Manc Lands. Charming weather, great company and mixing it with the big boys and girls on the track. I rode the 4km in 4min46sec to finish 16 outta 28. Not fast enough to qualify for the semis but enough to catch my man on the 5th lap which is when i lapsed concentration and started thinking about pacing myself when i shoulda just been giving my all to go flat out. 4km is so short compared to Westferry, more a sustained sprint really. Cannot wait to have another shot now i know so many areas where i can improve upon. Roll on Glasgow Velodrome, it's gunna be a blast!
  18. Wont be out for the next couple of weeks. Hope to see you all at the Hill Champs though. Enjoy, Ben
  19. Alan, The 4km pursuit is contested on Wed 28th Sept, 5pm. Fastest 4 progress to the semis. I am looking forward watching Miss Pendleton compete the same day.
  20. Cheers Daryl. I saw your Dogma today, not too shabby! Still, will be no match for my Butchers Bike!
  21. Hi Folks. I am looking for a decent quality rear wheel for my girlfriends mtb. (26") New or used, so long as it's in fair nick. Rim brake not disc. Also, I need a pair of 9 speed shimano sti Shifters for my winter bike. I can collect from wherever you are. Hit me a pm with ya wares and a quote. Many thanks, Ben
  22. I will marshall as i've had to withdraw from racing. See you at 8.20. Ben
  23. Thats great folks, many thanks all for the info. Including pm's, I've now had two votes for the Paisley lady and two votes for the brilliantly named Horace London. That makes it a tie break. I'm swayed toward Horace because he sounds cool, another vote in favour of Miss Paisley might decide it though.........
