  1. Tom, Carbon bars ... not for me think I would be having palpatations every time I went over a bump. Could be wrong but I don't think most pros use them and as Billy says surprisingly heavy (probably carbon wrap over aluminium skeleton) if you don't pay top dollar. As for oversize, think it's just natural progression, probably stiffer and more comfortable loads more choice as well if your in the market for a new set. Davie
  2. Sorry Ramsay - given current form there is no chance I will be up for a fast Dunoon run on Saturday. Plan instead to stick to some of my favourite local roads and do 60 / 70 miles stringing together some short, steep climbs. Gravel, pot holes and coo crap are all guaranteed so beware - it will resemble a longer version of the Thursday hilly circuit but on worse roads. Also note that I will be riding carbon so no mudguards for me. The plan for me is getting some miles in at a decent pace but not interested in a kicking. If anybody is interested post up - plan on leaving about 9ish. Davie
  3. I may be along for possibly truncated 09:30 run.
  4. Guys, It has been decreed I am going to the pics tonight, enjoy yourselves you have some great viewing lined up, better than I can hope for at any rate. Was out for a spin this morning and Sunday is a definate no go for me
  5. Hi Jan, Can I have; 1 x medium bib shorts; 1 x s/s jersey. Cheers, Davie
  6. Billy - looks like your really looking forward to the night at the pics Jim - still a maybe as my plans still have to be mapped out for me ala Billy Mac, will let you know nearer the time. As for the weekend Flanders training ride don't think I'll be there as I start anti-biotics today to hopefully kill this sinus infection off and though the doc says I can train I don't think a kicking is the way to go. Might go out with the 09:30 bunch for the miles and hope they go easy on me. Davie
  7. Should have probably been a "no" - thanks to all for waiting at the bridge, though you didn't need to. Cheers, Davie
  8. I'm currently a maybe for the 10:00 bunch....sinus's playing up yet again and consequently felt rank rotten middle of the week, not too bad now but will decide in the morning. If I don't see youse have a great run. D
  9. Ramsay, Yes 2 racks available ...I'll take one off and can easily drop it round so you can try it. Will let you know.
  10. Agreed great run..... Billy, if you don't like the flats that much you should stick to the hills. If your running Gatorskins you should be able to put 110 to 120 PSI in them - it will tell you on the tyre wall. Otherwise avoid the potholes Davie
  11. Should be out for this and will probably take a shot at the 09:45 group and see how I go. Davie

    Long run Sunday 30

Guys, Contrary to previous posts I will not be going tomorrow as I can't commit to an all-dayer. Enjoy ..... Davie
  14. Guys, Good run today certainly brisk enough for me! The hard miles along the coast were felt going up the Haylie - never found it so tough before and after suffering a bit of cramp I just left Ramsay to it and rolled home. Cheers, Davie

    Long run Sunday 30

08:30 on Sunday for long run suits me. Will go with the flow but the less stops / more riding option gets my vote. Davie
  16. It's actually a fish eye lens he is needing...........don't know if Spac Severs stock these.
  17. Was running late today so only got down in time to see the senior event....seeing Ross Creber basically float over the sand section on the 1st lap was mightily impressive and he looked like the strongest on the day from the off. Great course and racing and well done to all the Wheelers/Jets who took part. Davie
  18. Mark - other option I will consider in the morning is jumping on the 08:50 train -I will decide in the morning. Davie
  19. Mark, Will be avoiding the track......will likely cycle main road to LochW and try and hook up with Ramsay - let me know what your plans are. Any probs in the morning my mobile is 0774 5992795. Lindsay - thanks for the heads ups re. the track and glad to hear you are (relatively) OK. D
  20. Ian, Sorry didn't see your post. Executive decision time... 09:15 at club rooms / 09:30 at Morrisons heading out to Bishopton.....
  21. All, Have one eye on the weather myself as forecasts are variable with freezing fog a possibility! Still, I plan to be at club rooms at 09:15 for the initial meeting. The route isn't set in stone i.e. we can stay more local if people are pushed for time but main roads might be the best option which tends to suggest coast run. Has anybody any other thoughts? Also is everybody planning on the one meeting place or are we meeting people on the way. Obviously if we don't meet up at the same time it makes the prospect of an early morning debate over the most suitable route a bit redundant. Post up and apologies if the above is a bit confusing. Davie
  22. Guys, Not much interest in this but would appear to be a decent group going out on the Sunday. My plan remains the same, ride on the Saturday and watch the 'cross on the Sunday but will not be offended if current confirmed posters would prefer to go on the more popular Sunday run instead. Also not hung up on a coast run but would go with the majority if a suitable meeting place is arranged. Let me know what you think. Davie
  23. Though my name is on the list don't think I'll be racing - as my 'cross bike is now of the the winter variety so it will either entail racing in a 53 / 39 which for obvious reasons I really don't fancy or switching back to cross gearing for an hours worth of racing - think I'll pass. Planning on being there all the same.
