  1. All, If you don't fancy the Westferry, the Barrmill circuit is a cracking wee loop with a bit of everything thrown in. Might meet the odd car on the country sections but relatively wide and roads in decent condition. Ideal if you want to get some bunch riding skills with some some mini intervals thrown in. As for the comments on the recent "best thread ever" can't speak for some, notably the Bonkers Bucaneer, but for my part it was a wee bit of badinage between consenting adults so no reason for it to put anybody off. D
  2. Ahh bliss...beautiful night in the Peoples Republic of North Ayrshire as I solo'd around the Barmill circuit early doors. Looked as black as the Earl o' Haigs waistcoat out to the East as I completed my 2nd lap so not surprised about the monsoon reports. D
  3. Can only afford an hour or so after work tonight so won't make it along. Enjoy D
  4. Richard, If you are out tonight can we expect titanium plus Super Record on display? D
  5. Yet more discussions re. pace on the other thread - so before I get any pelters for the "brisk" comment I do want to get home in good time on Sunday. Had in mind more of a "specific" run than normal Sunday bunch run ......on second thoughts I'll just stop digging now:-P
  6. Billy, Reliable as ever with the standard Largs run - as intimated last night would probably prefer some variations on the theme so offer the following alternative. For those that remember this is a more back roads version of the route taken last year henceforth to be known as La Marmite! If navigated the carbon rims should be left at home. Clubrooms (09:00 start), Bowfield, Balgray Bonds, Barmill Circuit to Dalgarvan mill, deepest, darkest roads to Ardrossan, along coast and up the Fairlie, quarry road to KilB, back roads to LochW, up Johns hill and drop down into Howwood and home - laps up and down the hill climb are optional!! Lumpy with a few genuine knee benders, occasionally rough and gravel strewn (no cafe stop planned). I know there has been various talks of differing paces, groups etc so to be upfront about it I would propose for this run a brisk (for me) pace and the opportunity to go full gas up the hills. Back in time to see the Tour! We can discuss at the meeting point on Sunday and make a democratic decision either way. D
  7. Mark, Will be there at 18:00hrs. D
  8. Whit daftie started this talk of the Renfra bunch? I will admit I should have probably sobered up slightly before responding It was the drink typing ... honest! Maybe's aye......maybe's no at present. D
  9. ................and none o' this join at Bishopton patter
  10. Renfrew bogs at 7 then? Could do with some company when I get shelled! D
  11. George, A popular post indeed will be at the club rooms at 9. D
  12. Should make it tonight. Will be loitering at Paddockholm around 18:00hrs. D
  13. None the wiser as to whether Mr Mac is racing at the weekend or not so started a new thread for clarity. Can't make the Ayr Century run due to time constraints so wil be going out in the morning for 60 - 70 miles. Would plan an Ayrshire back road blast so probably not suitable for the carbon rims - potential route encompasses some of my favourite, though now less travelled, roads. Lumpy with a few genuine knee benders, occasionally rough and gravel strewn with plans for the pace being kept steady (no cafe stop planned). Anybody in? D

    Road races

Thanks Paul will put that in the diary. Billy Mac has convinced me to enter the Falkirk Super 6 so will maybe be taking the plunge sooner than that. Better get training D

    Road races

Paul, Believe it or not I have a year to go before I achieve vet status - are the TLI's you mentioned run off like the Barmill one or would I be stuck in with the youngsters? A hiding either way is forseeable but some familiar faces in the bunch (at least at the start!) may be appreciated! Keen but a bit apprehensive/confused about how best to take the plunge. Cheers, Davie

  21. Quality Jap workmanship indeed I believe they make cracking fishing rods. D
  22. 08:30 at the club rooms is fine for me. So propose for those east bound on the cycletrack meeting at LochW the back of 08:00hrs. D
  23. Another no show I'm afraid - work as opposed to man flu or weather related. I know what's the worst in my opinion. D
  24. Hope to make it out to enjoy the great British summertime. Plan to be rolling past Paddockholm at 6ish. D
