  1. Dog being sick on bed led to early rise and consequently early start on the bike. Quite blowy out but almost pleasant 4hrs bisecting north and east Ayrshires.
  2. Ian, Am only a maybe tbh so can't really commit to a meeting point. If I actually make it onto a bike I may see you at some point. Cheers, Davie
  3. I've got a whistle and survival bag unused from 3-peaks if anybody wants to borrow it.....

    Roubaix is of interest.
  6. Will try for the Saturday but may be away will let you know nearer the time if Bowfield plateau RV is likely.
  7. George, Have looked at the 5 day forecast and Sunday looks a bit crap any chance of a move to Saturday which looks pleasant in comparison? D
  8. Geo, Ride past Greenacres heading towards Uplawmoor, take next right turn, once you meet the Beith to Lugton road hang a left - the start line is at the 1st turn off on the right - it is indicated (or used to be) by a "farm to freezer" sign. Would like to have been there but away this weekend. Hoping to get more involved in bunch runs and so after this. Enjoy. D
  9. Paul, The 3-Peaks would look better on your palmares. Extra points for completing it with canti's where the descent off Pen-y-Ghent will be scarier than the "Big Wan" at Blackpool pleasure beach.... D
  10. Just checked weather for tomorrow so will see in the morning.
  11. Was planning on cycling there leave Kilbirnie about 08:50.
  12. Yes as I recall the return "night" ride from the ferry did seem quite an epic thing to do and I would be up for it if anybody can recall the details.
  13. Reverse transmitter above is probably 60 - 70 miles with café stop on return just outside Moscow. There are some great roads which form natural circuits right on our doorstep so I will try and put together a farm-roads special route, carbon rim compatible of course.
  14. Reverse transmitter hill with added features 14th May.
  15. Cheers Alex - will get this sorted tonight.
  16. Ghetto tubeless bring a spare rim.
  17. Hands up I've no' paid. How do you pay, thought there was some link via the BC website but can't locate it?
  18. Nice bike...can't really go wrong with kinesis. If I'm not mistaken this is a frame which can run either canti's or discs? Discs are cracking, canti's less so unless you are good enough to only need to modulate speed as opposed to having to stop in a hurry. As for shoes the smart money is to go for something with a wee bit of flex in the sole (I use the mavic ones and these seem pretty popular on the circuit) better for running and/or ripping your calf muscle in two. Studs are a bit of a gimmick in my very humble opinion specially with courses getting more and more ride orientated. Volgas.
  19. A fine and productive morning for me ......bearings oot
  20. Darryl, Been running the hydros for a year on my Kinesis - on initial set-up it was just plug and play as got the system bled sufficiently 1st time out the box. When I transferred them over to the Ridley it took a few go's and some swearing to get them bled, there was a stage of the process I went overboard on to achieve this. If you ever need a bleed kit and some fluid you are more than welcome to borrow mine. Last word on the PF30's any replaceable part which needs to be hammered out of a carbon frame is more than a wee bit daft - had a few trial gos this morning with improvised tool but now waiting for the right tool to try again. P.S. swap any organic pads out with Swiss Stop sintered, they will have you locking up good style and will last much longer.
  21. Hi Chung, I have actually bought it (see below) it was the result of a mammoth search to find (what seemed like) the last 52 frame in the UK from the 2016 line-up - only way to get non-thru' axle variant. It's basically the same frame as the top models but with budget kit. Got at a good price and hope to sell the wheels and FSA crankset. Purchase has resulted in a 2 way bike build as I am swapping all components from my Kinesis to this and vise versa. Now sports Planet X carbon tubs, SRAM Rival hydraulic brakes, Ritchey WCS cockpit, Thompson Elite seat post, clutched rear mech (I still use bargain basement Sram mountain bike 10 speed jobs which, when the awful OEM jockeys are swapped out, are bomb proof). Soon to be fitted with Praxis Works BB adaptor for 105 Hollowtech and Rotor narrow/wide CX single chainring. It won't actually be the lightest but then again neither will the rider. It won't actually be the best but then again.....
