Alas no. But then through the poor climatic knowledge of my parents i was born in the wrong country. What can i say, if it pisses down when i ride the ToB sportive, c'est la vie. But since i rode yesterday I didn't feel the need to get sodden today........... besides the bed was very comfortable and I was still tired.

Just for the the record. Despite the warmth of the duvet I did manage 90 minutes on the turbo and then the gym. So the fine malt, of which I now partake, I feel is justified.

Hi Brian
I set the alarm and got up, saw it was chucking it down so opted for the warmth of my duvet!
I buy the gels from this French website. http://www.fenioux-multisports.com/
Their stuff is pretty decent and they sponsor Etape de Tour which is were Campbell got them. He had them when we did Etape Caledonia , so I thought I'd buy some. Hydration and food are essential on long rides so make sure you have either isotonic energy drinks or if you find them too sweet Nuun tablets are pretty good and will replace the salts lost through sweating.
The website does not have any English translation so if you need a hand let me know. Also their energy bars are about the most edible I have tasted; and I have tried a great many.
Best regards

Thanks for not mentioning that the cafe is at the bottom of the hill!
I stopped in the Bishopton cafe for lunch; soupmand a sandwich has never been so welcome.

Hi John
I generally have three aims when doing something like this. In this case as always no.1. is finishing. No 2 & 3 are generally times. But having said that I really haven't given it much thought, nor training for that matter! Perhaps 6.5 and 6hrs. At this stage I think 6.5 hrs might be a bit of a push.
I haven't even checked if the event is timed. Happy to have company and see how it pans out on the day.

Not keen on the profile.... But what goes up, however slowly, has a fantastic time going down! Where do I sign?
NB new Garmin with navigation now added to computer array, so no repeat of Flanders

Hi Paul
I have entered the Tour of Britain sportive on the 4th Sept. In my usual fashion I haven't paid much attention to the route. It has a couple of options but I went for the full 100+ miles. I plan to stop in a B&B the night before (still to book this) and have booked the bike plus rider option for returning to Peebles from Dumfries.
Would welcome some company. I just fancied something to keep me on the bike and putting the miles in.
Tom
Hi Billy
I am up for it too. I need to get some miles in before the Tour of Britain sportive in Peebles on Sept 4th.
Sat and Sun seem like a good idea.

First decent run for several weeks for me........... and what a day to choose. A few mechanicals along the way but a great run in glorious sunshine.
Tom
I am in, although I will return the day before from two leisurely weeks in France so I think I will find it tough.
I will need a bike also.
I am happy to take the car so if anyone wants a lift let me know.
Tom
Hi Jan
I have two at the Jets on Saturday morning, finishing at 11:30am.
I'll be along immediately after that but it will be very near 12 I am sure.
