  1. Ian Manson - today, at the back of 11 on the track at Howwood - looking suitably bronzed after foreign sun,  amongst the milk white WoS knees otherwise on view!

Later, John and Rita in the cafe at Kilbirnie - great day for anyone lucky enough to be out on a bike!

  2. Five hardy souls ventured out this morning in challenging winds, though as forecast the rain did ease!  Times as follows:

    1. Alan McBride 26:48 PB (Paid)

    2.  Ian McGinty 27:43 PB (Paid)

    3. Alan T 29:47 (Paid double last week)

    4.  Mike Ferguson  33:02 (Paid)

    5. James Maclaren  33:23 (Payment to come/next time)

Some great times and PBs on a tough, early season morning and a fine win for Alan McB on full muddies and no tri bars :icon_yes   Well done to all.

Many thanks to Paul L for haudin' up and early identification of finishing riders.

Â£9.00 to club funds on the day.

  3. Well done to Mr McGinty on a fine win and to Alan T on the PB icon_blue_laugh  Good efforts all round I'd say, on a day when I don't know yet where the wind was coming from!

Many thanks to Jane for timekeeping, Iain Couttie for shovin' aff, Jann and Iain for photos.

Fantastic day to be out on the bike!  With the ride down and back, plus a 44 mile hilly route with Kenny Christie from Langbank, I managed 92+ much needed miles from the house.  By far the furthest this year - here's to more fine weather!!

  4. Hi Tony - as you say  - each to their own.  I've always thoroughly enjoyed the Restricted Gear events.  The lower gears promote fast and efficient pedalling and help keep you warm at this time of year!   Last year's event was won superbly by Adam Hazel, one of the Jets.

My understanding is that restricted gear events are a traditional part of the British cycling club calendar, usually following Reliability Trials and constituting the first time trials of the year. Generally they are followed by two-up TT events.

  5. I quite like stripy jerseys Chung (and hooped ones) :icon_hee-haw !  I guess they are less common nowadays as jerseys have to serve as mobile hoardings!

Remarkable new signings should ensure some good racing on their wildcard entry - remind me to fill the fridge and put my feet up!
