  1. Great day out in fine company from many clubs!  Thanks to Geoff and Ian L (fire setter superb!)

Fine JWCC representation and a sighting of Jamie McGahan (Glasgow Wheelers) standing quietly at the back of the fire! ( give it a Google or check out GWCC Hall of Fame).

  2. Great effort Chung - meticulous research and preparation, resulting in a fine race too Ohyadancer!  Really enjoyed my first effort at driving a race vehicle - thanks for the opportunity!

Glad to hear the young rider Stuart is not too badly off.  Really heartening to see so many Wheelers out in support - fine job done all round.

  3. Thanks for this Richard - more epic stuff from Mike!   Ohyadancer! Proof, not that it's needed, that Mike is the real deal - a true tester, while some of us just play at it!

He is not without previous heroics in this event.  Last year we both rode the national 100 on the Alness course.  I caught Mike for 2 minutes after about 17 miles - this is not in the normal scheme of things. As the race wore on, Mike continued to lose ground and it was clear something wasn't right. By the end Mike was miles down on his best and normal expectations.  Typically he even refused the offer of a lift back to the strip after the finish.  At the presentation and cup of tea afterwards, he did eventually concede that he had been having some discomfort throughout from his hip (the pronounced limp being something of a giveaway!).  By the time the presentation was over, Mike could barely walk to the car. He had clearly been in real pain throughout, delivering a hugely brave and combative performance  - for me the ride of the day, by a mile.  In his position I would have climbed off hours earlier.

Happily, the problem stemmed form an ill-suited new saddle, which was promptly sold and normal service quickly resumed!

  4. Many thanks to Richard for doing the needful - much appreciated!

Great effort indeed from Alan M - tough night (IMO), much windier than the forecast 8Mph WNW! forecast. Sub 16 a very likely (IMO) prospect given the right night and more use of the new TT bike. Forza Alan!!

Which other wheeler has gone that quick recently?   Ramsay I think.

Hold the front page...it was summer! First TT of the year without merino socks says something icon_blue_laugh

No road race this year but the usual time trial (first rider off 11am) and a Hill Climb (2.15pm).  Carol and Alan T have listed this previously under time trials, but I gather Ian Loughran has only one JWCC entry so far (Alan).

Can't make it myself this year as I'm away, but always a great day out!  Plenty of prizes for all ages and both genders!

  6. In terms of re-scheduling the Frank Lauder I'd suggest we simply re-designate one of the August dates for it (no preference as to which one).  We have no recent history of successfully finding additional dates for postponed events.- largely due to the extensive confined programme we have.

I am not in favour of Richard's suggestion of displacing next week's confined on the Georgetown for a number of reasons:

    • I have already paid for and got a start in two open TT events next week, including the national 25.  I don't need a third race and I certainly don't need two back to back Tue/Wed before the national.  Others I assume will be in a similar position.
    • Not sure one week is fair notice of a re-arranged club championship - an agreed August date at least gives folk a chance to re-plan their racing and entries and make choices if necessary
    • displacing a shorter Georgetown TT next week reduces opportunities for those who favour the shorter distance and the course, including Jets.

Hope my attempt at new technology works!

It seems there is a total closure eastbound between Junctions 31 (Westferry and Junction 30 (Bishopton).  The recommended Diversion for traffic is to come off at Westferry, retrace steps to Newark/Clune/Kilmacolm, thence to the  Morrisons Junction to join A737, then to M8 at the Racecourse.

Someone local can comment on cones but I can't imagine the motorway being closed Eastbound without substantial lane closure leading up to it.  Unless anyone can confirm the works are completed early and the road clear, I will give it a miss!
