  1. I'm looking for something a bit aero on a limited budget. Has anyone got anything "kicking around" that they are looking to sell, or indeed have you been looking for an excuse to upgrade and change the old ones?? I'm running campag 10sp, so would need to be campag or at least something that the freehub can easily be changed (such as mavic/planet x hubs). I would also prefer clinchers, but if the price is right I would consider tubs. My thoughts (with the help of Daryll earlier) are something like the Mavic Cosmic Carbonne or similar deep section, but would consider anything (disc, 3 or 4 spoke etc). Absolute ideal would be a rear hub where I could swap between campag and shim to allow my wife to use on her bike, then I would be able to justify spending a little but more. Let me know. Cheers, Ramsay

    Sunday 25th

Hope Dave's OK. Thanks to Kenny for seeing him back home, while we all b******ed off along the road. I thought today's route was excellent, including the Pavé sections. Most of the roads were within 5-10miles of my house and I knew less than half of them! Great stuff. Cheers, R
  3. For Sale - Roof box and two sets of roof bars and feet Roof Bars Two sets of genuine Thule Square Roof bars. Both sets used but in good condition. • One set is 120cm long, so suitable for medium to large cars/people carriers. • The other is 135cm long, so suitable for large cars/people carriers/4x4 etc. • Thule square roof bars currently sell for about £30 a pair, so I would be happy to take £10 per pair. Foot packs • Genuine Thule 755 foot pack. Used but still boxed and in great condition. All four feet have locks and there are three keys. The 755 foot pack sells for £60 new, so would take £20 for the set. • Genuine Thule “gutter†type foot pack (951). Used, but in good condition. The new “gutter†type 951 sells for about £25, so would take £10 for the set. Roof Box • Halfords roof box (approx 470 litres). Black “Carbon fibre†look. Good condition, but does have some scratching on the outside. Two keys for the lock. Suitable for a medium to large car/people carrier/4x4 etc. • It is the older version (not sure exactly what year) of Halfords 470L Silver Roof Box see link - www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv ... yId_165500 o Approx overall dimensions – 1.65m long, 0.95m wide and 0.4m deep. o Bar mount spacing – side to side distance is 80cm, front to back ranges from 50cm to 80cm. • The new version is currently selling for £199 (on sale), so I will be happy to take £75 for the box. Please PM if you are interested. Cheers, Ramsay
  4. My fees from tonight and the collected money from Chocolate in early June has now been paid to the club! R
  5. Thanks to Richard for time keeping tonight. It turned out to be a truely lovely evening I'm posting the results because they are written on the back of the only piece of paper we had between us (a teach yourself french guide of mine!) and I didn't want to rip the page out! Jan - 39.45 Mary - 34.53 Ian McG - 29.30 Kenny Christie - 28.10 Greg - 26.54 Ramsay - 25.13 Jan took the money tonight and will post who has or has not paid (i've not, but will add to the takings I still owe the club from when I was time keeping a couple of months ago). Thanks again Richard. Cheers, Ramsay
  6. Anyone doing the Hilly TT tonight? It is supposed to dry up a bit. 7pm start just round from the Langbank roundabout. I'm parking next to the Hungry Monk. Hope to see some people out. Cheers, Ramsay
  7. Paul, Yes for 12th Sept, team RR. I had planned on the Cairngorm weekend again this year, but this sounds better. 1) Bute weekend is in the calander already. Not sure what the 90mile training ride is though? 2) I have the Braes races down in my calander. I think that this is the same as the Stirling 2,3 & 4 race! 3) Too young. For now! 4) I'm hoping to ride and will get my entry in soon. Might just do the 4th cat only. Cheers, R
  8. Yep for Sunday. Where are you thinking? R
  9. Sorry guys, not going to be able to make it again. Too many things going on at present. Might manage hilly TT next Tuesday R
  10. Does anyone have a reasonable set of Look Delta pedal that they are looking to get rid of? I'd prefer a pair with adjustable float, but not really that fussy. Cheers, Ramsay

    Gear help...

If you have Campag then I know that you need a medium cage for a 29. Otherwise, it could be either your stop is set out, or the cable is too tight and is effectively set one gear too low. Hope that's some help. R
  12. Quick report for the race yesterday. Myself, David and Paul went up for the race, with a full field of 80 riders. The course (just north or Perth) was fairly undulating and there was a stiff westerly wind, but luckily only one passing shower. The race started with the usual series of small attacks trying to go off the front, but none of them were successful and by the end of the first lap the whole field was still together. On the second (final) lap, very few attempts were made to go off the front, in fact it was almost at club run sort of pace as we went out into the headwind. However, as soon as we turned for the last 10-12miles with the tail wind, the pace really shot up to well over 30mph. For some reason a marshall's car tried to get past the bunch about half way back to the finish and successfully managed to spilt the field, with me at the back!! Anyway, after about a mile of really hard effort, myself and two or three others got back in touch with the bunch. It was unfortunately only about 1mile before a wee short sharp rise, which then unfortunately I got shelled out the back. I got togeteher with two or three others, but we never got closer than about 100m again!! So I finished about 30seconds to a minute behind the winner. The last I saw close up of the bunch, Paul was sitting up in the top 5-10 and he managed to hold that to the end (despite a bit of elbowing at the last corner) to come in a very good 6th. As I crossed the line I saw David standing at the finish. He had been forced to use his winter bike due to a crack in his race bike frame, and unfortunately his front mech packed up at the end of the first lap and left him unable to get into his top chainring, so race over. Good result for Paul in a big and fairly strong field. As for David and I.....there's always the next time! Cheers Ramsay

  17. Hi all, I’m starting a wee project, as there appears to be a lack of road races mid-summer, and I’m looking for some bits of kit. Will obviously pay the going rate for things, if you have what I’m looking for. Here’s the list of what I need at the moment: • TT/Aero handlebars. • TT/Aero brake levels. • Bar end gear levers (I have a few bits of Shimano kit, but Campag wheels, so not yet committed to either. Although Campag 10sp would be my preference as all my wheels are that.) Might need some bits of groupset, but will hold off until I decide which way I’m going. Can you guess what the project is yet? Cheers, Ramsay

  19. Kay - Yep, 7pm. Lindsay - Welcome to the club. We meet at the west end of the Geogretown road (Inchinnan end) at the gates to MOD building. If you are driving, please do not park in the gates to the MOD building, as they don't like it! See you all tonight. R
  20. David, I'm not fussed about timekeeping. Not really planning to ride, so will do it if you don't want to. I want to ride next week and then I'm busy for quite a few weeks after. Cheers, R
  21. Well done guys. Great results. Sounds like a great day. I would certainly be up for a track day sometime. Never tried it, so would be keen. Cheers Ramsay
  22. Lovely run out today. I met Paul at Castle Semple and then along the track to get David at Howwood. With David needing to be back, we set a fairly brisk pace out to Galston and up the transmitter hill, but then turned and took a slightly shorter than normal route back. Safe to say that Paul was certainly in better form than David and I on the hills! Would have been a 3.5 hours run, but less than a mile from home I met my wife heading out, so turned and joined her for 1.5hours. Ended up with 85miles done for the day and arms/legs a wee bit browner! Hope this weather is here to stay for a while. Off for beer and BBQ now! R
  23. Sounds good. Howwood at 8am, Loch at 7:45. R
  24. I'll timekeep on Tuesday. 7pm start. Cheers, Ramsay
