Great to see some local names in there. A couple that I could give a hard time to back in 2011! If I had been fit, it would have been great to have raced against some of the countries best (even to be on the same start sheet would have been cool)!

Does anyone have the 50 or 52 booked for July? Not sure what size I would be.

50 is free and 52 is due back around the end of the first week (need to confirm that!). 50 is in the club rooms, so feel free to try it out.

Can't believe it will be two years tomorrow since Jim passed away. It feels like no time at all since we were last riding round the coast or over the bridge together, or indeed sharing a coffee or driving to a race. He is still missed.

I hope all that are out on their bikes this weekend take a moment to remember Jim.

Does anyone know much about hybrids? I have been asked by a family member about some advice on hybrids, but to be honest i don't know much.

I hear that Boardman bikes are reasonable and having had a quick look they seem fine, but I don't really know.

I may pop in to Dooleys to see what they have.

Any thoughts would be great.

IMO the right turn at the crossroads is no more dangerous than the new proposal of going straight on, after all, the traffic from left and right has priority, and you will have to slow and watch for traffic whatever you do.

It wasn't the right turn at the cross roads that is the bad one. It was the one back round where you have a blind right then almost straight into a left. A few years ago James MacDonald nearly went over the bonnet of a van (he hit the wing mirror if I remember!).

Agree that at the cross roads you will need to slow anyway, but from memory it is quite open.

Due to popular demand, it is proposed to run a confined APR on Thursday 13th June. It is proposed to meet at the road end into the Peesweep Scout Camp on the top of the Braes at 18:45 for a 19:00 start.

Due to dangerous right turns, the circuit previously used at Peesweep is not advised and instead a straight should be taken at the cross roads (where we used to turn right) and join back on to the circuit. (I'll try and post the route from mapmyride later this week). The advantage of this reduced circuit is that if anyone is off the pace, they can get back on to a group far quicker.

This is a confined training event and the idea would be to split into three or possibly four groups set off at agreed intervals for a set number of laps. While it would be the case of first across the line is the "winner", it is more about training and working well together as small groups.

Mrs M was 4th in the Stirling tri yesterday, with a PB at sprint distance as well. Frustratingly only 6 seconds off 3rd (and the big prize money!).

Ok, so it sounds like it may be a goer.

Next question is what course. I much preferred Gateside to Peesweep, but as I'm not riding, then I don't have a vote.

There are none planned, but I'm more than happy to suggest a few dates and see if people can make it and are keen. We stopped doing them a few years ago because of a bit of a lack of interest, but at times a few years before that there were quite a few out every week. The "replacement" to the APR is now the Thursday chaingang, but I personnally think a confined APR was great fun and arguably better training.

It would need to be on a Thursday, as all Tuesday's are full. There are certainly enough people racing and/or riding at a certain level that could make a decent training/confined APR.

So - is anybody keen to have a bit of a change on a few Thursday nights? There are several courses that have been used, such as Peesweep or Gateside. Please post thoughts below.
