  1. Dougie You're in luck. Ian Manson tells me that minimum order would be about 50 for trisuits so, unless there is a huge cohort of triathlon lurkers on this forum, I reckon there's no danger of seeing me in a tight JWCC trisuit in the near future. Do you have your new Cervelo yet? Please post pics. It should look beautiful. Alan
  2. "Its much faster than the Tri night" OMG; I can barely keep up on a Tuesday. Alan
  3. This event includes a beautiful cycle around Loch Rannoch and over the Schiehallion road. Duncan Thomson and I will be there. We're staying at a bunkhouse in Aberfeldy. Look forward to seeing some of you there. Beers somewhere in Aberfeldy on Saturday night. If committee members are reading this please note I would definitely buy a tri suit with club logos if available. Can we get a small order in? Would people mind JWCC being associated with triathlon in such a way? Regards Alan
  4. Kenny Thank you for the Wikipedia reference. It seems that Georgetown itself has gone for almost 50 years. I wonder if generations of JWCC have kept the name alive. It doesn't appear on my OS map. Stevie Thanks for the info. I'll try to get out on a Thursday before the end of "summer". How does it compare to the Tuesday 6pm run? faster?slower? More/less folk? Maybe see you on Tuesday. Regards Alan
  5. Formakin to Renfrew in five minutes? Easy, I'll just sit on Mr blom's wheel. (If anyone wants to meet up a bit earlier/later on this route then please post or PM me and I might change the time . I've met a few commuters but we all tend to have our own agendas in the morning) Did you get a new bike? and do you know what Georgetown was/is? A
  6. Stevie Can't do Renfrew bunch but please post their current leaving times from the bogs in case I miss the 6pm Braehead bunch on Tuesday. is it 1845 or 1900? Anyway I think Tue and Thurs would be very hard work. If you (or any lurkers) are commuting tomorrow and want some company I'll wait for 2 minutes from 0745 at the junction of West Glen Road and Barochan Road. Heading south/east past Formakin, Bishopton, Renfrew and Govan. If I'm not there by 0747 then I'm either very late or in a big, comfy car with Five Live on the radio and knocking cyclists into gutters. So don't wait around. Regards] Alan
  7. Was it a farm or an old ordnance railway depot? Whatever was there appears to have gone.
  8. Woohoo! I'm a mountain goat, apparently. You must have had a whopping lunch because even after doing the Ardentinny loop we spent an hour back at Erskine waiting for the bunch which still hadn't turned up by 4pm. GPS track for nerds on the Club runs forum. Regards Alan
  9. Full route here. Altitude went a bit funny on the way to Otter Ferry. http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/3560959
  10. Started wet, got wetter. My teeth have never chattered in August before. Quite spectacular amounts of the North Atlantic landed in Argyll today, most of it ended up in under my "waterproof" jacket. Full distance and all hilly options covered by some of us so honour was satisfied. Doubtless someone will post a better history of the day but driving rain was the outstanding feature. Roll on winter. At least you know what to expect in December. Robert crashed and broke his forks. Nasty wipeout: we left him with the broomwagon. Hope you get well soon. I'll post a GPS track once my fingers have thawed out and I can handle a USB plug again. Thank you to all the organisers and broomwagon crew. Regards Alan
  11. Are you Dougie Cervelo yet? You may want to change your username. Looking forward to seeing the new bike. Regards alan
  12. Yes. But no-one was there apart from me. My first APR of the year. Does this mean I am the winner?
  13. A bunch leaves from Halford's at Braehead at 6 pm sharp on Tuesday. Bishopton, West Ferry, Clune, Georgetown. Very fast along West Ferry. Mainly triathletes. This is a a great ride home for anyone like me working in Glasgow needing a good blast back to Inverclyde, BoW, Kilmacolm etc. I am sorry if this seems a bit disloyal to the club because there are so many good club events on a Tuesday evening which I would otherwise like to do, but I have to be back home by 1930 on a Tuesday. This is an excellent alternative to the Renfrew bunch which leaves a bit later than the "advertised" 1830. Regards Alan
  14. Ian/Kenny Please would you let us relative newcomers know how to get more club kit. I only have a single short sleeve jersey from last year. Regards Alan
  15. Dear kenny/folks can we bring along a road fixed bike to the track or does it have to be track specific? I understand that brakes are dangerous and not used on tracks. regards Alan
  16. Dear all. Bit OT but please don't mistake me (ugly picture to left) with the other Alan McLean involved in this thread. Thanks. Regards Alan
  17. Yes, an hour would be very leisurely. Just remember that the airport entrance is on the S side, opposite Erskine; you'll have to cycle either E or W along about two miles of fence. No risk of missing it though.
  18. Dear Velotrain I support Jim's advice not to bother with the cycle track. The main road will be fairly quiet on a Sunday and is flat. The cycle track is difficult to find and only runs parallel to the main road for a few miles. Erskine to the airport should be under an hour even with panniers; the road is good. have a good trip. Alan
  19. I've posted the course in "Club Runs" forum. I missed this thread. Duh.
  20. Dear All I thought you might want to check out the CTC site http://www.fillthathole.org.uk/. Theory is: You log a pothole (complete with 6 fig grid ref, google maps and satellite image.) CTC report it to the council and it gets fixed. I logged a whopper on West Glen Road which almost killed me at Xmas in the dark. It had been there 3 months but was filled within ten days. I don't know if this was due to my post but I suspect it was. They also filled some smaller wheelkillers nearby. You may want to try entering a few of your worst local potholes. I know it is tempting to enter "the whole of Johnstone and Renfrew" as a one big pothole but I suspect that the CTC and councils would like some more sensible pointers. If this really works then I'll join CTC; top marks to them for doing something. Regards Alan
  21. Duncan I don't have Paypal, all I need is the treasurer's address. can someone PM me please. And don't use so many face things. Alan
  22. I can't find a link for renewing membership. Please advise to whom I should pay subs. Thanks Alan
  23. Yup, payment confirmed. Now I just need a quiet word with the wife. I'll have to put up a lot of shelves.
  24. The etape website is open for online entries. It seems to like my credit card so I think I'm in javascript:emoticon('') 20th May, big ride including a ford (?). The website opened for entries 48 hours before it was planned so I suggest if you want to enter then do it now. sorry I can't do the fred witton the weekend before (we're in the wee Bealach). This is a good chance to do a similar ride not too far south. Let me know if you get in folks; happy to share transport. When do the reliability rides start? I'll need some major training. Alan
  25. The above link doesn't work because I don't understand computers. Find "everydaycycling.com"; Don Smith is the fourth listed event. Right. I'm definitely off for that scan now. Alan
