  8. All This will be my 3rd PBP do we have any other men or women of steel ready to train for this ride. It is one of the most fantasy things you will do in cycling circles. It requires fitness, stamina & strength of minded. But most of all preparation so see below the qualifying rides in Scotland. The rides I will be doing are in red. To qualify you have to do rides of certain distances by certain date see below. Qualifying Rides in the UK. Paris-Brest-Paris is organised by the French club, Audax Club Parisian (ACP). ACP anticipate that there will be about 4500 participants in 2007. In order to qualify for entry to the 2011 PBP by riding in the UK, randonnees designated as RM or 'Randonneur Mondiaux' events must be completed at the four distances of 200, 300, 400 and 600 kilometres, during the first half of 2011. The following dates are provisional: 200 by April 22 300 from April 7 to May 20 400 from April 28 to June 3 600 from May 17 to June 17 200 06 Feb 11 Edinburgh, Corstorphine - The Nippy Sweeti 200 06 Mar 11 Rosewell, S of Edinburgh - Dave Harris Memorial 200 27 Mar 11 Galashiels - Moffat Toffee 300 09 Apr 11 Oban / Craignure - Mull it Over 200 16 Apr 11 Aberdeen - Dee Lecht-able 300 23 Apr 11 Galashiels - Reiver Fever 400 30 Apr 11 Portmahomack - Portmahomack 400 400 07 May 11 Galashiels - Nae Bother to Us 400 300 14 May 11 Kirriemuir - The Snow Roads 600 28 May 11 Edinburgh - Edinburgh - Preston - Edinburgh 600 11 Jun 11 Corstorphine, Edinburgh - Only For Softies 200 17 Jul 11 Gourock - Rivers Lochs and Glens 200km 400 29 Jul 11 Crossgates, Nr Dunfermline - Kingdom Come This is the link to Audax UK web site and calendar where you can get an entry form for the rides above. http://www.aukweb.net/cal/index.htm Campbell See you on the road.

  14. Went down the Georgetown road this morning. The road is shut at the end of the long straight. This is just a thought if we start at this point up to the roundabout then back to the start with a dead turn and then up to roundabout and back to start and finish were we started. The road has no cars as its shut. Campbell
  15. I will put my hand in the air for the west ferry Campbell Ps thanks for timekeeping Ian
  16. Ian I would say, stick with what you have. its to late in the day tochange. Campbell Ps have a good time.
  17. Durness Duress 317km Audax Saturday 29th May The ride started cold and damp with light drizzle a field of 30 rider set of from Portmahomack at 6.00am in the morning with great vigour Young David and I lead them out at a sensible pace for the first 2 miles then some won must have said that we had cleared the neutral zone and the pace picked up I just sat in and let the drag me along till we got to Lairg and hills were there, I paced my self up the hills with a group of rider that were slower. So I went up the hills at my one pace getting to the first control at 9.10 not bad 3hr 10minuets for 52 miles it would slow down from here on as the field would be spread out. The rain had stopped at this point so the rain jacket was put away but it would not be for long. The road to Durness has its ups and down but nothing to serious but the scenery is spectacular now real views of the hill as there was low cloud. On arriving in Durness the rain returned it was some good food in the Sango Sands Oasis. From hear to Tongue it is very undulating country along the top of Scotland with some lovely coves, at Hope there is a seriously step hill then it eases of to the top with a long descent to the sound of tongue were the post office tea room had some good coffee and cake to be had the would take me over the hill to Altnaharra and the climb to the Crask Inn which was the penultimate control. Well on leaving Tongue there is a long gradual climb from sea level to Loch Loyal well it could not rain any heaver and it never stop till I finished but on the bright side we had a tail wind that blow us down the road to the Crask Inn which was a welcome brake from the weather with soup and macaroni cheese on toast this was going to take me the last 49 miles in the rain. I had cought up with 4 other riders at this point one of them being David so he weighted will I eat my tea and the 2 of us set of for the last stint. We got to Portmahomack 197 Miles at 9.10pm we were cold wet and wearer but had made it before nightfall, there was a warm shower, food and good company at the finish there were 6 riders in in front of David and I and the last rider finished at 1.00am on the Sunday morning. It must have been tough for the later riders as they where out there in the dark and all that rain. Portmahomack 6.00am Overscaig Hotel 52 Miles 9.10am Durness 92 Miles 12.00pm Tongue 121 Miles 2.30pm Crask Inn 148 Miles 5.15pm Portmahomack 197 Miles 9.10pm 13 hours 30 minutes cycling 1 hour 40 minutes spent at controls resting and refuelling. Doing a 600km on 12 June lets hope the weather is better.

  22. All Thank you very much for entering this years Katrine Kapers Audax 13 Sept 2009. Unfortunately your entry was one of just a few that I received. Because of the lack of entrants it has become unviable to run the event and unfortunately I’ve been forced to cancel. Thanking you again Kind Regards Campbell Crombie.
