2023 Subscriptions iain couttie Posted December 12, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted December 12, 2015 Looking for a back wheel for turbo use, one that's done its time on the road would be fine. Iain
James Esus
I have a turbo helmet I could give to you, it's aero as well!
Life Members chung Posted December 12, 2015 Life Members Report Share Posted December 12, 2015 Iain, I think I've got a back wheel that it'll suit your requirement, BUT it's a Campagnolo fit, I believe you're the sensible type who runs Shimano. Let me know if it's any good! Cheers Chung
2023 Subscriptions XXX Posted December 12, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted December 12, 2015 Chung Iain If it's 11 it's fine if it's 10 it works on your TT 11 speed and your 10 bit more noise though as I run a shimano 10 speed on turbo with campy 10 speed and ultegra
2023 Subscriptions AlanT Posted December 12, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted December 12, 2015 I've got an old shimano 9speed wheel, no cassette with a ding in the rim. No good for road, but if you want it to turbo you can have it.

Life Members chung Posted December 14, 2015 Life Members Report Share Posted December 14, 2015 thanks guys, it is 10sp shimano Iain, your best bet between my Campagnolo wheel & AlanT's Shimano wheel is Alan's! If you already have a 10s Shimano cassette (which I imagine you might have already), then just put that on his Shimano fit wheel, it should have a very thin washer just before you insert the cassette block. Shimano 9 & 10 speed freehub is compatible in most cases. That way, you would not have to spend any more money on getting a Campagnolo cassette (which is expensive if you compare to a Shimano 10s one) if you take my wheel. As Billy said, 10s Campagnolo cassette will run ok on 10s Shimano drive-train (I used to ran that set up when I was cross group-sets), but its noisy & the shifting isn't great :-) Hope that helps & let me know if you want my wheel Cheers Chung iain couttie
Life Members chung Posted December 14, 2015 Life Members Report Share Posted December 14, 2015 Iain, Make sure when you place the Shimano cassette block in Alan's wheel, you insert the washer/spacer in first (I think its about 1mm thick) which your cassette should come with, otherwise without it, your cassette block will not sit tight on the free-hub no matter how hard you tighten it. Also, it might be obvious, but using turbo specific tyre is recommended :-) http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/Vittoria-Zaffiro-Pro-Home-Trainer-Tyre-Full-Red-29x135/VITTTYRA200?utm_campaign=Googlebase&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=Googlebase&geoip=UK&gclid=CPyYzvnR28kCFesBwwod5PsPcw&gclsrc=aw.ds I just can't help getting folks spending money :-) keeps our economy growing ............ Cheers & Happy turbo-ing Chung
