The Erit Lass 200km Audax - Sun 8th Sept

Recommended Posts

  • 2 weeks later...

31 folk started out at 08:00 from Musselburgh in warm morning sunshine.

Excellent 27km coastal route to North Berwick served as a warm-up with stunning views.

Next 70k took us south west to Innerleithen (after a minor wrong turning!) for a welcome al fresco lunch break at the Whistle Stop cafe.

50k East then brought us to Duns for a second cafe stop...very civilised this Audax riding!

Final leg took us West back to Musselburgh. This was by far the hardest leg. With 150k already in your legs the climbing also started in earnest. However, stunning scenery, essentially good roads and company more than made up for grinding out the climbs.

The Scotch pie at the end was a welcome reward!

In the saddle for the 200k with 3000m of climbing for 07:58. Couple of cafe stops took total time to over 9 hrs. May also have had a bit left over at the end...possibly aiming at a 300k next year.

Great day on the bike, obviously made better by the weather. Thoroughly recommend this route and Audaxes in general for anyone looking to get the miles in their legs or to try something different in another part of the country.

Looking forward to the next 200km Audax installment this Sun...4th in 5 weeks.

Great stuff Alan!

Sounds like a cracker, any pictures to show by any chance?

4 Audax in 5 weeks ............ I only managed 2 in 9 years of cycling (does the Nova Colli count? If so then 3) so well done my friend!

See you on the road soon!

Cheers
