Richie Cross
Hi folks, Remember me!? As above, if you have a torque wrench, what do you recommend? My stem is 5.5Nm and my seat post is 4Nm. Never used one before but you know what it's like...new frame and I'm being a bit precious!! It's actually only for Mallorca so maybe I should just be asking if anyone has one that they're taking with them? I may well buy one anyway. Thanks
Guest GEORGE DONNELLY
Honestly, never used a torque wrench. Turn Alan key until tight "that'll do, I'll tighten it again next year, job's a good un"
Members Richard
I've got one of these, Richie. http://www.cyclestore.co.uk/productDetails.asp?productID=20794 I picked this one because it's got a recognisable brand name on the lid and it was only 40 quid at the time. So far, so good: no complaints; no broken carbon steerer tube. I'll take mine on our travels again this year, so there's no need to shell out if you don't really want one. Handy to have, though. Takes the guesswork out of tightening.
2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted January 18, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted January 18, 2013 I have a Halfords one which is good for high torque and a b&q one for the low torque (2.5nm - 25nm). Both fairly cheap if I remember, but seem to work well.
Richie Cross
Excellent chaps, cheers. I imagine the only time I'll loosen the stem or take off the saddle will be on trips abroad but it's good to know I can sponge of you! al yuille
Got one of these for stem - cheap. George, your method prob ok for carbon/alloy but not so good for carbon/carbon. Any advice from those who have popped a steerer/frame. http://www.competitivecyclist.com/review-tool/Ritchey-Torque-Key_1216.html

Have been looking for different sizes since buying my 4mm in Dooleys. They still had them in stock last week when I was in
