2023 Subscriptions Tom Hill Posted November 1, 2011 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted November 1, 2011 Just a note for you English chaps. If you check your history books you will find that it is actually three leopards; lions nowhere to be seen!! Paul C
This came up on TV prog QI a couple of weeks ago and Mr Fry clearly stated that it is three leopards. Apparently, at the time the crest was made hundreds of years ago lions were unknown.

2023 Subscriptions duncan thomson Posted November 1, 2011 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted November 1, 2011 how were leopards known and lions not? Similar geographical distribution, I have been to Kenya twice, seen loads of lions but leopards elusive strange the way this forum goes sometimes, I particularly enjoyed the washing thread Duncan
Guest EPCC
Note To All I have no wish to change the club top in any format whatsoever. And as Kenny states SC would not be happy with an away jersey So once more before it goes to bed anybody want a white top for the tour of Italy simple yes or no would need 10 so will let it run till Friday then could the community pull the thread please
Richie Cross
Yeah, let's get away from anything being a JWCC club jersey as such. A wee memento/tour jersey. Yes for me. Worth getting a cost anyway. Cheers
Life Members chung Posted November 1, 2011 Life Members Report Share Posted November 1, 2011 Billy & All, From the responds, it seems the interest is there for a custom 1 off jersey for this trip. Can I suggest that we maybe create one that incorporates the following content: "Johnstone Wheelers Rides the Nove Colli Gran Fondo 20th May 2011" (Nicked the ideas from football stripes where FA Cup finalist usually have a specified date on their tops) Possibly with the names of the riders in Smaller Text too. However, I foresee the problem that our club colour (Yellow & Blue) does not really go well with the colours of the Italian flag, so some degree of design Ingenuity may be needed to make it work. I'm more than happy to give it a go if folks are O.K with that, also as long as its affordable for us. My idea would be to keep it quite clean & simple with the emphasize on the colour. P.S Kenny S & Martin, would it be O.K to put "Johnstone Wheeler" or "JWCC" etc in the designs of the said jersey? Kenny, do you have the contact for Endura supplier? What do you think? Cheers Chung
Richie Cross
I was liking the idea of the white with the Italian flag colours round the middle, sleeves and maybe the collar? White is the centre band so would work ok. The Italian flag would be our homage to the country for the trip. Maybe cut the wording down a bit? Johnstone Wheelers/JWCC (if allowed) Nove Colli May 20th 2012 or Johnstone Wheelers Nove Colli 2012 etc etc Actually...should this thread be deleted and a new 'Tour jersey for Nove Colli' thread be started for those going? Guest
Chung, the FA cup reference is a good idea. Why not get nove colli suits to travel in, like the FA cup final teams do? double breasted with a high waister trouser, big lapels and maybe a shadow stripe pattern. Just get Tom or Billy to give you one of their 70s disco suits as a template and take it from there. ignore me, I'm just jive talkin'

Guest EPCC
Chung Because it will be hot was thinking white like worlds but with the Italian flag colours round chest collar and cuffs I think you have hit the mark with the inscriptions a firm on the web will do it with your name on the front at about 45 each
