Administrators Jannza Posted April 22, 2011 Administrators Report Share Posted April 22, 2011 Anyone fancy a wee run on the M74 (closed road) on Sunday 22nd May? http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/Parks_Outdoors/m74bikenhike
Committee Alan McLean Posted May 8, 2011 Committee Report Share Posted May 8, 2011 Good idea Jan, We're signed as a "family" ride but joining the club cyclists. It's not often you can ride along traffic-free four lanes of mint tarmac. A

Committee Alan McLean Posted May 22, 2011 Committee Report Share Posted May 22, 2011 10 am on Sunday and the weather is revolting. Looks like the first view I get of the motoway will be from a nice, comfy car. A
Life Members chung Posted May 22, 2011 Life Members Report Share Posted May 22, 2011 Hi Alan, I cycled the event with the wee one, I was supposed to run it but last minute change of plan meant I was cycling instead. The weather wasn't bad at all, it rained heavily once while we were waiting for the start, but after that it stayed dry pretty much all the way through, there was even occasional sunny spells, although the wind was strong coming back in. Great to see so many out enjoying cycling, running & walking on smooth tarmac. Bumped into Tom H and family, Greig & Elaine and spotted a few Jets too. I saw a few club cyclist too, namely the VC Southsiders, good turnout from them. Just imagine if we all cycled or walk, then there wouldn't be any traffic jam.........if only! graham
Alan The view from in fast lane was great. Loads of smooth tarmac shame the rest of the roads weren't as good. Even got a couple of stretches of strada bianchi, i think this will be gone by the time the McLean panzer runs down the road at full gaz Managed to make a round trip with Cameron and clocked up about 30 odd miles returning via Clydebank. 2023 Subscriptions martin Posted May 23, 2011 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted May 23, 2011 A man from the dark side arrives! Good to hear a member of the baggy shorts brigade singing the praises of smooth tarmac.
Committee Alan McLean Posted May 31, 2011 Committee Report Share Posted May 31, 2011 Hi Just a late post to confirm that we did the full bhoona as well. Awesome combination of tailwind and three lane new Tarmac on the outgoing leg. Shame the cars will use it eventually. A
