Guest DavieR
The 30 miler invasions are always the friendly type and it never hurts! All hills are in a downward direction with the wind at your back, even when the weather is foul and we retire to the clubhouse for a roller session the fans are placed behind us for that little extra push. What more could you ask for! See you all on Sunday.

Stevie Blom
Aye Right Kenny Just wait for it folks the old shout 'Turn left' then its a Wall of concrete you need to climb...  Remember the time the bunch rolled towards Renton and you shouted NEXT LEFT!!!! suddenly we was infront of a climb so steep that the Great man himself Jim Brogan shouted 'Fu@k THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' turned about and went another direction Funniest thing i have ever heard to this day and i think it was Sean who rode back down to see if he was ok as most of us thought he was kidding us on but he wasnt  A few months after that myself ian Manson and Jim drive out to Comrie for a TLI Race, en route to Comrie Jim just kept saying ' dearie me check out the mountains man they are everywhere.....Jimmy rae told me it was like b illiard table , Wait till i see him'........Another 10 miles go by and the same terain Finally we arrive at the strip and jim Marches over to Jimmy ; OI you , ye told me it was like billiard table this circuit , cant see anything but Mountains man, everyone is kicking aboot wi mountain bikes Jimmy wits going on??'  Wee man could not get a word in Sideways - class patter from the man Turned out the race was quite flat some how and only 1 main drag in it. Final words in the car on way back ' christ lads ive got an @rse like a urangutang and legs like Schwarzzenegger
Colin H
Stevie,  Mr Mac took us up that climb in Renton a couple of months ago  The man himself was first to stop, pulling into a drive at the side of the road claiming his glasses were steaming up (For the rest of the ride Mulhooligan and myself debated whether we believed this ropy excuse...)  Next to stop was me , however not knowing the hill I stopped on the steepest section and took about a dozen attempts to get started again  Lesson learned on that ride was to keep an eye on the wily old fox as he just rolled out of the drive he was in and cruised past
Sean Gray
Hi All  there are a lot of us out tomorrow wearing black arm bands as a mark of respect for Jason. Totally optional of course but i think it would be a nice gesture.(please pass this thought around)  Cheers Sean.  P.S If you dont have one cut the top off of a black sock (thats what was suggested to me)
Members Kenny MacDonald
Sean you beat me to it again !!! I would urge all club members to sport a black armband of some type tomorrow , just as we did following the disaster in Wales a couple of year ago. Members Kenny MacDonald
Ten honest men left clubrooms at 9.00am prompt 2 Ken MacDs ,James,John J , Bill, Andy H , Colin, Davie R , Ian S and new old boy Ramsay We headed along Georgetown to Smiddy and headwind Greenock bound Destination was the "dirty wee port" and the Highholm climb this is a particulary cruel climb as it has a false flat halfway up much to the dismay of the bunch James was pushed all the way by Ramsay whilst Colins efforts wilted as we turned right on false flat and faced the wall it was severe mechanicals for yours truly as a stiff link hampered progress, oh and my chain was jamming too At summit we took chance to look across the water at the snowclad mountains and the spendour of the highlands , at this point the group wearing our black armbands took a minute to remember fellow cyclist Jason who could no longer enjoy days out like these . No sooner had we regrouped and it was onto the WALL over to top of Whin,it was the same scenario with Ramsay and James fighting it out followed by Old Mac and Colin leading the rest . Just as we dropped down to the Whin, Bill encountered Greenock boy racer who was rallying on wrong side of road, the carnage that followed was horrendous remind me never to get on the wrong side of a 60 year old cylist Finally tailwind assisted it was big ring stuff all the way to Bridge of Weir cut off below Phils folly. Advance party thought it was an easy romp up the folly but no !! some severe climbing was planned Ken Mac struggling with a bad cold opted for a quick retreat and Ian S kindly opted to escort him home Into B.O.W. and it was a right turn up the climb to Mulhooligans where female BMW driver wreaked havoc with chasers allowing Ramsay and old Mac chance to nip ahead Climbing upwards again it was over past Troon drive and the back road to Howwood. THis has to be one of the steepest climbs in the area and it burst a few legs as James led from bottom followed by yours truly who succumbed to Ramsay 3/4 of the way up whilst a severe plane crash took places behind The descent allowed a build up of speed before the next hors category steep lift on our way to Lochwinnoch. Regrouping at the junction we spotted Bill waving from summit, a quick retrace found him resembling a north sea diver The large ( North sea) puddle which hid severe potholes had claimed him. The farmer came out to inform us that bill was cyclist number 3 to be claimed by this cruel sea Cold wet and pride dented Bill set off for home escorted by Colin. The remainder set off for Clochoderick stone and last 2 climbs of the day on way to Lochwinnoch. In Lochwinnoch we bid farewell to Ramsay and headed on track to Howwood and a practice habble all the way to Johnstone in readiness for the relaibility runs Cracking day out , in mild conditions . Sore legs all round as climbs were attacked with gusto and big rings turned in anger with tailwinds KOM was a tie with James and Ramsay locking horns on every uphill, ending up honours even Rider of the day , too many to mention Monthly awayday planned for next week , watch this space
