    Farewell

So sorry to hear this Davie. Whilst I have no photos, I do recall enjoying your chat and banter over the last year or two that I've been a member. It was clear from the outset that you absolutely love cycling. I hope you get loads of enjoyment out of the ebike and I wish you all the best with your treatment. Colin.
  2. All the best. 2021 will be better 💪
  3. Dear Club Members Today, as our area has moved into Tier 3, the committee have reviewed the latest guidance. We note that the restrictions under Tier 4 were practically unworkable for club bunch rides, and that there is very little difference between Tier 3 and 4 restrictions. In line with other Scottish cycling clubs, we have decided that the best course of action, for the present, is to suspend all club activity until further notice. If you do go out on your bike please ensure you follow the guidelines, and be mindful that they are now enshrined in law. If you’re unsure about them, the latest information is here: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/scotland/article/20200313-Scottish-Cycling-Coronavirus-COVID19-Guidance-0 . Johnstone Wheelers hope to return to the roads again soon, but for now there will be no further club runs or related activity. We are very active on Zwift - see the Virtual Rides forum on The Bunch, and further details in Main Bunch WhatsApp group. Keep safe - and we’ll gang forward again soon JWCC Committee
  4. Now ice here so won’t be out. May keep this in reserve for next week instead
  5. Assuming there is no ice, I am looking at 0930 meetup at Clubrooms for a tour of Renfrewshire (we're not allowed to ride out of the local authority area as we're still level 4). I've plotted the below route, as a guide: https://www.strava.com/routes/2770376452796050646 This takes us into Paisley centre, then up Neilston Rd and Calside, up the Braes to the Car Park In The Sky, then along the road past the trout fishery down to Newton of Belltrees, Lochwinnoch, up the Johnshill and then down the Barneigh hill towards Howwood. We turn off to Kilbarchan, over the hill to Bridge of Weir and Houston, then up to Langbank (the same as the hilly TT route), dropping down into Langbank, up station road (aye!) then up Netherton Road, the back road (Corsliehill Road) to Houston, then along the Georgetown to Bishopton, up Slateford Rd for a change, Erskine, Inchinnan, then back along the Georgetown heading back to clubrooms. Its ss close to 100k without visiting too many places twice as Bring your essentials, food + facemask incase you need to stop at a shop. Hopefully see you in the morn. Colin.
  6. Cheers Eric. I'm taking from this, that yourself and those who reside in Kilmacolm/outwith Renfrewshire are unable to join our bunch at the moment? It says Travel is OK informally but not for formal rides (maybe due to bunch size). So yourself and Colin couldn't come to clubrooms tomorrow? Or am I reading that wrong lol
  7. Members, we have received updated guidance from Scottish Cycling regarding club activity during the current pandemic with particular attention to areas in Levels 3 & 4. Specifically, until further notice club rides must stay within the boundary of the local authority (in our case, Renfrewshire). There are no changes to the group sizes which remain at up to seven riders in a club-organised bunch ride. We note that non-club organised rides remain at six riders from two different households only. Please adhere to these guidelines – the clubs reputation is at risk and the law would be broken by not doing so. Virtual bunch rides continue on Zwift – we now have a 'Virtual Rides' section on The Bunch, full details available in there. We hope members continue to abide by the guidelines, but for clarity: Any ride organised on The Bunch or the club WhatsApp Groups are club-organised with rider details sent to our Covid convenor, Eric. Any outwith this are not official club rides. See you Sunday for a Tour De Renfrewshire. JWCC Committee.

  9. A quick gooe revealed a few answers. There were potential sites at back of Langbank and Lochwinnoch, as seen in yellow on the map in this document. But in terms of actual sites, they're in green and yes I believe its Warlock Road which is the other one. Only info I could find which was reasonably useful was here: http://www.wctrs-society.com/wp-content/uploads/abstracts/berkeley/G6/189/Microsoft Word - WTC leisure lanes.pdf
  10. Yip you can turn up Corsliehill Road its one of the lanes. Really nice view when it opens out, a favourite wee route of mine. Not a clue where the rest are though.
  11. See you 0930. Will try my best not to be late 😇
  12. No joy. I’ve put it into Ricky’s shop should be sorted for next week. Chillout day for me tomorrow instead. Have a good one!
  13. Not done Cowal with you yet... what’s standard route... C11 included? Is there a cafe stop too? Hoping to fix front tyre tomorrow so I’m provisional for this
  14. Currently pished... never going to manage it. Probably do 30 milers if I can get out of bed. Luv ye’s x
  15. I now have a night out on Saturday so I'm only provisional for this. But deffo up for Callander if I can drag my hungover arse out of bed in time
  16. Cracking day in the saddle with a big bunch of 10 on the Galston Leg Bender route. Forgot how tough some of those hills were! Great to be back out in a bunch again!! Hopefully be out again next week. I'll email details of who was there to Eric
  17. I'll take phone no's if you're not there Geo. Not too familiar with route once we get to Galston think I've only done it once (the Moscow Revolution ride?).
  18. Not going to make it this morning. Apologies. Hopefully back out next week
  19. Yes from me. Also don’t know the full route 🙄 lol

    ARRAN

Thanks, I had no transport to travel to Ardrossan for the 7am ferry and didn't have a booking for the next ferry, so wouldn't be guaranteed a place on that. So planned to leave the house at 5am at a nice gentle pace to get there for about 6.30 and get on ferry. Trouble was, I woke at 4am to get ready and get a massive bowl of porridge down me, heard the rain outside so took one look at the rain radar and realised it was waaay to hazardous to get to Ardrossan in the torrential rain (attached screenshot - the yellow and red stuff was heading straight across my route), so it never happened. Rain wouldn't have gone off til about 8am and that appears to have been what happened so glad I put it off. Arran will always be there, I'll hopefully get this done by the time the timetables change in the autumn lol.

    ARRAN

Yeah, will need to save energy for southern part of the island. Might stick on the aero bars on for use on the flats and see if that'll help lol. I don't have a power meter so tend to go by HR to see how hard I'm working and nae idea how to use virtual partner, but have a rough idea of where I should be at certain landmarks. Also one stone heavier than when I last did it so need to make up time I might lose on hills 😇
