  1. wet wet wet. Good sized bunch for the new year including three Carols. Run was cut short at Cairn cafe where we blethered for about an hour.

Most then headed home from there and me Carol C intended to accompany Graham and Gerard over Houston Road but took a wrong turn and ended up at Kilmacolm Golf club clubhouse. Sorry guys.

Planning  to set up a whatsApp thread for 30 milers and other bunch runs.   More details to follow.

  2. Happy New Year

Easy paced 30-40 miles to get the new year started, around some local roads but the reverse of the usual routes.

Leave Clubrooms 9.30am Miller Street, Johnstone.

Cycle track to Bridge of Weir, Torr Road to Gateside, Auchenfoyle Rd to Auchentiber to kilmacolm. West Glen Road to Houston & Bridge of Weir for coffee.

Open to all and if new to cycling, all you need to  turn up with is a spare tube, tyre levers , pump ,money for coffee and your enthusiasm.

    Please post if coming,

    Dave

  3. Thanks for the company today guys n girls. Six set off from Miller St, Anthony, Jaki, Tommy, Bill T and Katrina and battled to the Haylie Brae through a strong headwind.

Katrina headed home as the rest made our way into the Bagel Basket for coffees, cakes and scrabbled eggs (eventually Jaki).

Brisbane Glen on the way back, where we left Bill to make his own time. The sun came out and Loch Thom is spectacular in its exposed isolation.

  4. How about another try for a run to the windfarm if dry.

Leave Clubrooms 9 .15am. Miller Street

Howwood, Lugton,Dunlop,Stewarton,Fenwick, cyclelane next to old A77 road and cut off  to cafe stop at Whitelees Visitor Centre

A steady climb on the way up to the windfarm and coffee and cake at the visitor centre, then a great descent to Newton Mearns and down through Barrhead on the way back.

Distance is approx 45miles and suitable for newbies and oldies.

  5. Five out today, myself, Carol, Morna, Colin and newbie Dave F on his first bunch ride.

Route was Georgetown to Bishopton via Dargavel Village to Monkeyhouse. West Glen to Kilmacolm and loop back to Finestra Cafe and met Iain McGinty just back from Largs. After coffee and cake headed to Lochwinnoch and then back along track. Only one shower throughout the 40 miles and a good introduction to the club for Dave F.
