Sunday 25 th tignabruich
Ian Archibald replied to charlie p's topic in Sunday Run - Faster / Longer Bunch
Clubhouse at 9am then. -
Could be you’ve had your day in the sun Charlie. Best to leave the action to us young ones now. Cheers.
-
Last minute I know. I’m coming too.
-
C’mon Rob. It was all McT’s fault. He might have 19 BC points this year already but he needs a ski lift to get up the hills. We could have got em Robbie
-
Superb day for a cycle. Congratulations to the middle group staying away. We tried manfully to get you. And big thanks to Alan, Martin et al for organising the presentation. Left without helping with the washing up. Bad.
-
9 45 group if there is one.
-
Top of Lochranza? I put it to you m’lord, the defendant faked it for a breather. It’s 6 months Zwift (hard labour) or DA for the boy.
-
Thanks for the ride guys. Beautiful day, very relaxing and enjoyed the chat. Glad you filled me in on some new forum nicknames (is Alan Mcb really calling himself Penelope?). PS Don't telly anyone about the strong tailwind up Fairlie Moor. Reckon that's the fastest time I'll ever get.
-
Ok. 9 30. I’ve got your mobile number too.
-
Weather looks great. I know Amaretto but not sure about a viaduct. Is it the bridge about 200m towards Paisley on the cycle track? Keen to come. Want a crack at the Fairlie Moor hill - promise not to disrupt the group

Stopping for punctures makes the task too hard. We need a rule: puncturees fall on their sword for the greater good. We should honour them however on a sacrificial failures spreadsheet. I need to meet Galeb btw. Virtual high 5 for failing so admirably.

I'm booked on.
-
I had planned a solo attempt the previous Friday. Weather forecast was Paisley dry, Arran wet, and most of all I did think it was a 50/50 chance I'd miss the ferry. Anyhow I'd love to have been able to replicate your post. Awesome. Almost better that you failed. Totally hard. Totally proves how hard the SA and DA are. Kudos cubed.

I have to be at work next Thursday. I hate these blue moons. I've booked for the Friday morning. Iain McT says these Friday morning sessions have some quicker riders...
-
I've booked. Some quite quick riders came on the 1pm session today which was a bit unfortunate for Ryan, who has been fitter. 2pm session was, to quote Richard, like Wacky Races (for the old and infirm), but we successfully threaded our way through the dementia. Great workouts.

We could have a new category for Alan - FPWSA - Faux Poor Winter Single Arran. I'll look out my Brooks saddle, sou'wester and rain cape. Anything as long as I get to keep my di2 Thinking I might go for a solo on Friday...
-
I've booked. Not many spots left. Weather forecast looking good for the Emirates.

Geoff Smith's Georgetown Wednesday events are a game changer. Even before CTT came along , Geoff welcomed all comers, everyone is sociable and inclusive and you can race your mates no matter what club. Even Alan Mcbride stopped coming to our closed events in favour of the Wednesday nights, and I think there is little appetite to make comments on this thread because Geoff is already doing such a good job. You get top riders to kids on road bikes. I love em. My suggestion is to throw in our lot with Geoff and 3 or 4 times a year put on our own CTT, eg Langbank Hilly TT (I'm even prepared to lose my KoM on the Langbank course :))

Velodrome Training Thursday 14 December 1pm
Ian Archibald replied to Ian Archibald's topic in Track Racing/Riding
We coped well I thought with guest rider Ruari Grant ( I asked Ruari if he hadn't tried in some of the reps but he swore he did but got stuck behind Billy 15m off the wheel). How about getting wee Matti Dobbins to do our lead outs next week... if we promise not to drop him on the Renfrew Bunch on the Saturday -
I have booked 1pm to 3pm. Got record powers this week. Billy says he's improving too. I beat him on one sprint; next week x2.
-
I have booked from 1 to 3pm. For next week: 1. Richard needs to train and get fit 2. Billy needs to stop stalling for time to get extra recovery 3. Iain needs to put the hammer down in the warm up to tire Billy out.

Velodrome Training Thursday 7 December 1pm.

Billy won of course. Mr Montague wasn't trying, Iain McT felt sorry for Billy, and me? I have no excuse. Billy says most people retire from cycling when he beats them. Hmm. -

Was dipping into zone 9 at Largs, and Joe Friel, my coaching manual, said no. Legs, heart, lungs, intestines etc agreed. More generally the Renfrew bunch last Saturday was too hard for me. Be good to join a sub group that stuck at top of zone 2. I ought to join the JWCC Sunday Audax / Bagel Basket Group. Hmm.

Iain McT is bringing me and Jesse (one carer is insufficient for Jesse on a night out).
