  1. Billy, that's why I suggested we the Pipe Track out of the run...although I think you can see L-A-R-G-S from the top so it must be worth climbing!
  2. A couple of the runs posted by Al Yuille in summer are worth considering. The first one is over the water and if you take the Crow Road and Pipe Track out of the route it's not too hilly. http://www.mapmyride.../view/393250438 The second is an version of an Ayrshire run. http://www.mapmyride.../view/432835956
  3. The waves are on a "first come, first served" basis. It's pretty informal.
  4. Anyone else doing the Braveheart event on Saturday 25th October? http://www.braveheartfund.co.uk/EventDetail.asp?e_Tab=WhereWhen Chris Hoy, David Millar & Sean Kelly and some other pros are riding, apparently. It's only a 44 mile route so AndrewD, Foxy and me are planning to cycle to/from Kilmarnock from clubrooms. Last year we left at 8am, modest pace down, register, coffee, snack, started 10.30.
  5. Darryl, yes a huge exaggeration, but after two weeks of supersized meals in the USA and suffering from a cold the climbing was tough (for me)!
  6. The route took in the Devil’s Beef Tub and the 20% climb from the Talla reservoir. We also passed the Eskdalemuir Buddhist temple, very colourful.
  7. Three Wheelers rode the 1st Moffat Sportive today Foxy, AndrewD and myself. Only 72 miles but about 40k feet of climbing, so plenty of time for Alan and Andy to enjoy the scenery while waiting for me...thanks chaps. Superb quiet route on possibly the smoothest road surfaces in Scotland. The Borders roads are really hard to beat. Hospitality on a par with Drumlanrig, which is no surprise as it's the same organisers. Definitely worth considering for those that like variety.
  8. Entered! The sportive for insomniacs. Entries opened at midnight, full by 06.40.
  9. Bonkers & brilliant vertigo inducing video.
  10. I've cycled the Kinross event the last four years. Really well run event by Kinross CC, great route, free pie at the end and a commemorative mug which my wife loves receiving!
  11. Away on holiday tomorrow so will miss Lochaber event. Tearfund are running a new event from Moffat on Saturday 4th October which a few of us have entered. http://www.tearfundcycling.btck.co.uk/MOFFATAUTUMNSPORTIVES
  12. Greg I'm just back from a meandering two day cycle from Inverness to Aberdeen via the Cairngorm National Park on great roads with fantastic scenery. Going by the jerseys there are plenty of cycling clubs in the area and you won't be short of company. I hope you like whisky!! Enjoyed your company the last couple of years and stealing your chips after Paris Roubaix! Take care and enjoy the experience. Allan
  13. Doing the Tour o' the Borders in Peebles on Sunday. Good luck to the RideLondon guys.
  14. Plan to be out but it depends on the hospitality at the athletics tomorrow! I'll join at the north side of bridge. Don't wait if I'm not there.
  15. I'll meet you on the north side of the bridge.
  16. Away for weekend, C11 bullet dodged!

    Bunch Ride July 13

I'll be out. Perhaps a combined bunch of bunches to make a bigger bunch?
  18. Another great day on the bike! Given the forecast I thought we'd get wet at some point but no, sunny all the way...what a summer. Boyd, thank you for planning the route and the guided tour of the Drum and Clydebank on the way back to the bridge. Good to see some people I haven't seem for a while and meet the guys from Royal Albert CC from Larkhall. Bill was miffed that their bikes weren't red, white & blue! We even had the bonus of meeting Chung's wife and son at the café stop and get the other side of the 'bollard incident'!
  19. Boyd I'll join you tomorrow. I may be time constrained and have to miss out cafe stop. See you at clubrooms. Allan
