  1. Hi Martin I will put up my hand. How many hands do you need? James
  2. Hi, Yes, I agree it was a good days outing on Sunday. There are one or two things that are puzzling me. How come I have so many falls when I go racing! Was I the only one to career off the edge of the gravel track nearly hitting a photographer? I don’t really blame Danny for telling me not to brake, but where did I go wrong? Is it really just a case of looking in the wrong place, i.e. look there and you will go there? I fell 3 times on my first lap!!! I have decided to change my avatar to one of a jester! As the season goes on I feel I am getting fitter, but I need to enter some more races to keep the momentum going. Are there no more cyclocross races after December? What about MTB races? Well done to everyone who raced on Sunday. James
  3. Hi H Yes, lights arrived. Bright enough for the cycle track but not convinced about using them off road. May be alright if I was following someone. Wondering if it is worth putting lithium batteries into them, but am still running on the original batteries. Ok for the money. Did you see the post from Iain Couttie? MTB is out of action till I do something about my rear bearing. James
  4. Thanks Iain, still had a good time. Hope I did not hold you back too much. it was quite something to go through all those puddles and streams not knowing what was under the surface! Hopefully I will get the bike sorted before long. James
  5. Hi Iain, Are you planning on using a mountain bike? Paul, Hamish and I tried it last week at Muirshiel and decided the track to Kilmacolm was more suited to a mountain bike. What time do you think you will be at Muirshiel? James
  6. Has anyone else had problems entering an U12 (Hamish!) to race? Have given up with the online version and am posting application and money. James
  7. I would come along that is for sure. In fact I would be happy to continue right through the winter!!!!! James
  8. hi paul are you still going because we are ready james
  9. Hi Paul, Would it be ok if young Hamish comes along as well? James
  10. Hi Paul See you there at 9am. James

    Lights

Hi, I can recommend these front lights. Cheap and chearful. Available on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-WINTER-LE ... 0889836131 They are pretty good for the money. Only £12.95 and that is for the pair! The fitting is better than shown in the photo (The clamp screws do not stick up as they are shown). Simple to remove and the clamps could be used with many ordinary torches as well. I have one on my bike at the moment and will fit the other soon. ok for cycle track and tracks you know but not sure about using them in an area that I was unsure about. For more about lights, have a look at the "regular mountain bike rides" topic in the CX/MTB forum. James
  12. Ok, just letting you know that I should have these by Monday. They may not be the best (I would be surprised if they were), but hope they are good enough to get me out for a spin on the mtb at night. Last Jets session is this Saturday, so any time after that..... James Available on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-WINTER-LE ... 0889836131 They are pretty good for the money. 13. Very impressed with the soap. Thanks Richard.
  14. I can be at the Cornalees visitor centre for about 1.30pm. Anyone else interested? James
  15. Sounds fun. Not sure if I could get ther in time. James
  16. Hi, Sorry to hear about the cancellation. Presume they have objected to the condition of the grass after training. Some suggestions: Can we use any of the football parks excluding the pitches themselves, or other parks, e.g. Horsewood Park, Bridge of Weir? Caravan park or tent pitch area; not many people will be using one at the moment. How about Barnbrock? A field; would they be too muddy. I know a farmer..... Golf practice ground; unlikely, but Old Ranfurly has as new practice ground that will be too wet for most golfers, and Ranfurly Castle has a children’s pitch & put coarse that won’t be used till next year now. Part of the problem will be finding a small area where you can light up all the cycle area. This rules out pathways at Linwood, Muirshiel, Pollock Park etc which could only be used during the day. I expect you have already thought of these ideas, but if you want to explore any of these ideas let me know. James
  17. Thanks Colin. That was not the kind of photograph I was after James

  19. Hi, I would be interested in seeing some of the photographs from some recent cyclocross events. People seem to post photos on Flicker and videos on You Tube, and Vimeo. This can be useful to get an idea of what you are letting yourself in for by signing up for an event. Trouble is searching for them is not always successful. For instance, with Flicker, if you search for “Mugdock†you get many hits but not of cyclocross. So type in “Mugdock cyclocross†and you will get Mugdock cyclocross events over the years. Add 2011 and nothing! Why can’t people put the year in the title of the photo? Ok, I know that if you hover over the photo you get the date it was taken but that is a lot of photos to search through to get the up-to-date ones. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find recent photos, and yes I am l looking for a photo of myself – can I help it if…..? I have found a number of photos of Hamish on the Jets forum. Any photos to come from Plean and Mugdock? James
  20. Thanks Jannza, are the tablets just ordinary washing machine tablets but made by Vanish? Is the powder the OXI ACTION stuff? James
  21. On the subject of lights, how does the spec "Twin 9 LED Bike Lights Ultra bright 12,000 mcd LEDs" sound? Would that be a good start for lighting the way ahead? James
