  1. Group of 6 headed down the cycle track to Glengarnock, Greig, Elaine, John, Ken, John and me. Route was on to Beith, Gateside,Greenachres Howwood back to Miller Street. Me being a wimp, overweight, unfit and with cold wet feet threw in the towel at end of cycle path and headed back home. Note - must try harder next time out also loose some 60 year old puppy fat, get new set of knees. After all that should be fine. Not out next week, climbing a mountain instead, see you in two weeks time. ATB Alan

  10. Hi Iain, Might be able to help you here. Will look out the stack system, it has cd player, radio and cassette and get speakers out of the loft. Power it up to see how it works. Get back to you later today. Alan
  11. Hi Jonathan welcome to the JWCC forum. Yes you can get to the club easily from the cycle path from Paisley. After the road section at Elderslie, you rejoin the cycle path, after less than a half mile you take the exit left just prior to going over a blue coloured metal bridge. The bridge is totally enclosed in wire mesh so you can not mistake it. Once on the exit path the club rooms are 100 yards ahead on your right. Look forward to meeting you on Sunday. Best regards, Alan
  12. Have you changed your rim tapes? A couple of years ago I changed to the plastic style and had punctures nearly every outing. Changed back to the traditional cloth material and the problem disappeared. ATB Alan
  13. I would say if anything more hilly this week. Good group of 12 enjoyed Ken's route through Erskine by the Gleddoch, top of Clune, Achenbothie South Newton and back via the cycle track. 34 miles for me with a fair few hills thrown in. Bring on next week. Alan
  14. Ken, Sounds good to me, will see you then. Alan
  15. Good run out this morning, group of nine including young Ross from Renfrew on his first bunch outing.Route was the Bowfield, that kills me ! Dunlop, Stewarton then cafe stop at Kilmaurs. Suitably refreshed, returned by same route, 39 miles for me. See you next week. Regards, Alan
  16. Coming out to play, hangover permitting !
  17. All that I aspire to ! Alan (30 miler crew)
  18. Group of 13 headed for Balloch, should have been 14 but my wee mate Jim's chain snapped at Linwood, nae luck. Anyway, good run up to Balloch through Dumbarton and the Renton. It remained foggy most of the time, however most bikes had lights fitted. After coffee and scones headed back enjoying the afternoon sunshine. Good to meet some new faces and catch up with the regular 30 milers. Thanks for a good day out. Alan
  19. Good bunch of around 20 set of over the Erskine bridge and an urban route along Dumbarton road towards the city centre. Cafe stop was McDonalds with scenic views over Finniston. Then crossed picturesque burn - the Clyde - then westwards through sunny Govan admiring the autuminal trees and abundant wild life before Renfrew and the Georgetown Road and back to Johnstone. Lots of fun but would prefer going to the West next outing. Alan
  20. Hi Brian, Plan to be out as long as it is not pouring down. Alan
  21. Change of plan, off to Belfast to see No.1 son before he goes to that hot sandy place in the east for a 7 month tour. Hopefully be out next week. Alan
  22. Depending on the weather and degree of hangover, plan to be out for more mountain fun. Bike now fitted with bomb proof rear wheel so no excuses ! Alan
  23. I would second that John, great run today, met lots of new people. Also climbed a good few hills along the way, the last one being a hill to far. Broken spoke - again ! as Bill commented I am more your "Clydesdale Build" and suggested a somewhat stronger rear wheel. No sooner said than done, Mr. Cosh sorted me out this afternoon, so hopefully no more broken spokes. Brian, if you fancy trying the spin class it is held at the new sports centre in Renfrew next to the fire station. I think it is the old Babcock's playing field. Tuesday night at 7.45, lasts 45 minutes price between £5 and £3 dependent on numbers participating. Great work out, you will sweat blood ! If anyone else fancies it, come along, we are trying to build the numbers up again for the winter months. ATB Alan
