  1. I'd be interested to know what comes bundled with your purchase Al.
  2. Is this the one you mean Big Al? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tacx-Ergotrainer-T2200-Includes-Computer/dp/B005OVL0MC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383072112&sr=8-1&keywords=tacx+flow
  3. Billy, do you mean the Tacx Flow Virtual Reality trainer http://www.wiggle.co...yer-vr-trainer/ or the Flow Ergo trainer http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-flow-ergo-trainer/?
  4. Hi, I'm thinking of purchasing a turbo trainer for use over the winter. I don't have a garage or big shed to train in so it would either be in my livingroom or spare room. I live alone so not concerned about the noise in my own house but I do live in a semi-detached house so I am worried about the noise for the next door neighbour. I'm looking at this Tacx deal on Wiggle http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-satori-pro-trainer-training-mat-dvd/ Does anyone have any experience of this turbo trainer that could advise on the noise level? Thanks Allan
  5. Hi Jann, I'll be along for this. Maybe I can pick up my cap and socks order from you, if you have them with you? Allan
  6. On account of the hangover I plan to have as a consequence of attending the Primal Scream & Stone Roses gig on Saturday night, I think I will need to pass this week. Have a great run.
  7. Thanks to everyone for making me feel very welcome. Although I only made it to Largs this time I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless. Major kudos to Greig for hanging back and helping me drag my ample carcass up the hills outside Kilbirnie, when all I wanted to do was sit on the grass and cry for my mammy. The same goes for the rest who kindly regrouped a couple of times to let me catch up. Thanks for a great morning, and for introducing me to The Bagel Basket!

    Juice my ride?

I saw this on the Cycle Plus Facebook page - reprehensible indeed! http://digitalepo.com/
  9. Thanks Greig. My mate forgot all about Gumtree and has purchased one from there tonight after I sent him your link. Cheers for looking for it.
  10. I have a friend who is looking to buy a road bike for his girlfriend who is 5' 4" tall (assuming something like a 45cm frame needed). I was wondering if any JWCC ladies of similar height had perhaps upgraded and would be willing to part with their old steed? Cheers Allan

    Cadence training

Gents, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have quite a balanced diet as it is but having been off the bike for about 18 months through various injuries I have adopted quite a sedentary lifestyle, with the exception of regular trips to the pub, so I reckon the weight I've gained is more through beer than food. I have registered with Strava and Garmin Connect but I reckon you are right Alan....just get out there and find the love for cycling again and enjoy the gadgetry post ride! Any miles I do at this stage will be beneficial to my figure, regardless of cadence or HR. I've taken next week off work to get my finger out and kick-start my cycling again! KOM here I come (not). Cheers Allan
  12. As it has been some time since I was in the saddle I have piled on a bit of weight which I would now like to shift. I have been advised that cadence training rather than heart rate zone training is the way to go about shifting some weight but I am unsure of where to begin. I have just purchased a Garmin 500 with cadence and heart rate sensors so I can track both. Do any of The Bunch members have any experience or links to advice in this area? Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks Allan
  13. 1 cap, 2 socks size 43 please.
  14. On account of me being a lazy sod and not shifting the weight I hoped I would , I have for sale 1x JWCC Windtex jacket, never used, size XL. Cost £36 I think, would accept £20 ono. Cheers, Allan
  15. If it's good enough for Omega Pharma Quick Step........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVxeBiD8ZE0 Volunteers needed.......
  16. If you think we have it bad with potholes....check this one out. Thankfully it's in Ireland.
  17. Another interesting read from Transport for London on cyclists jumping red lights... http://smellslikeglu...ugh-red-lights/
  18. Happy New Year to you all. A colleague has just purchased one of these trainers and said it's pretty decent quality for the price. It comes with the front wheel support and floor mat. It seems the warehouse is out of stock at the moment but check with your local Decathlon store to see if they have any in. http://www.decathlon.co.uk/satori-pro-t1830-home-trainer--id_8164386.html# Allan
  19. A decent offer from Wiggle; 2x Continental GP4000s tyres plus 5 inner tubes for £65.00 (RRP £110) http://www.wiggle.co.uk/continental-grand-prix-4000s-tyres-and-tubes-bundle/
  20. Phil, I'll wait to see what angle the programme takes, but I'm hoping the end result is the realisation that cyclists need protecting from motorists where possible. Glasgow City Council have started building additional cycling lanes around some of the city centre roads which will help (when trucks and vans stop parking in them). But I doubt we will see the same protection on our rural roads due to the expense. I have experienced a lot of cyclists, albeit a minority, that refuse to follow even the basic rules of the road, giving us all a bad name. I hope the producers give a balanced view and propose some options for resolving it, because cycling is only becoming more and more popular. It's not going away! Allan
  21. Documentary on BBC1, Wednesday 5th Dec, 9pm. "A look at the conflict between cyclist and motorist on Britains Roads"
  22. James, I had to order one of these recently and this website does the full kit, including the sensor, for £11.99 http://247cycleshop.com/shop/article_20/Cateye-Velo-Centre-Mount-Kit.html?pse=apq Allan
  23. I should be there Grieg! First in a wee while so take it easy on me R Allan
  24. I'd be up for this. I've been out with the 30 milers a couple of times but tend to do my own thing on the weekends. Time to change that! Allan
