  1. Sorry Colin no can do this week - going to a gig on Thursday. Looks a great route tho' - have a good one! Iain
  2. Fantastic performances from Jonny and Jim - news of your success was the talk of the Eastwood Toll bunch this morning! Very well done to all the JWCC & Jets competing. Iain and Mary
  3. Many thanks to David for timekeeping and giving the two stragglers at late start! Well done too for the super Audax adventure at the week-end - surprised you managed to stay awake long enough to timekeep last night! Iain
  4. Hi Tony the date also look fine for me now - never cycled down that way before so will look forward to it! Iain
  5. A very fine idea! Two more from here. Fairly flexible in July but would suggest avoid 17th for a couple of reasons a) it's Glasgow Fair and there seems to be a Pethshire Hill Motor Rally on that week-end, so the roads may be busy with 4 wheel go-faster types. 24th looks good tho'. Iain
  6. Good call Colin - just about to suggest someting similar! See you both then. Iain
  7. Hmnh! Not looking good! Leaving the office now and will check from home in about 1/2 an hour - if it's just Colin and me I suggest we forget it for this week. Iain
  8. Any takers for tonight? I'm fairly neutral re time/venue. How about Gateside/Lugton for a change, say 6.45 for 7pm if that helps for numbers? Iain
  9. As others have said - very well done to Jim and thanks again to Jan. Really sorry to hear the news of Greg - every best wish for a full and speedy recovery. Iain and Mary
  10. Mary and I will come along too but I will be later from work so will see what traffic is like... Iain
  11. Maybe not the evening anyone quite had planned, but as Greg says, we had a decent run out anyway! Shame about the Reilly Road's condition because otherwise Colin's shout would have been a good alternative. We did indeed hove right to take the straightish line of the triangle towards foot of Phil's folly, but waited at the road end for Greg & Ian. When they didn't appear we re-traced our steps assuming a puncture or somesuch, only to be met by Jan and Mary (out doing (now not so)secret hill training) who reported a sighting of the others headed direct to Kilmacolm! Admitted defeat at that point and headed up over the golf course road at Kilmacolm, where Kenny was "king of the mountains" and me the lantern rouge. After a cautious decent on the dodgy surface, we too headed for the Georgetown and a speedy wheelabout to end of TT course. Next time we might even all try the same route! The road works were in progress and looking good on the KnappsRoad course. Iain
  12. Unless there is a late afternoon rush, looks like 5 definite and 1 possible - not really enough for an APR. I will look again around 5pm. If its just 5 or 6 of us I'd suggest we meet at the TT start on Georgetown at 6 or 6.15pm( whatever suits others best) and take it from there. Iain
  13. I would be happy with the first one for the short route. Anyone cycling to the ferry? Mary
  14. Hi Kenny I'm Ok for another go. Obvious alternative is the Gateside/Lugton course from last year if there's enough to make it viable. I could be at Gateside by 6.30pm for a 6.45 start. If there's not enough of us why not meet at Georgetown - say 6pm? We could see how many there are and decide a route from there - roughly the same basis as last week . Iain
  15. Count me in for the longer run Ramsay - I've never cycled up the Rest either - always turned for home from Arrochar. 8.30am from Johnstone? What an unearthly hour (especially the night after the Champions League Final)! Iain
  16. Grant, I don't want to sound like a big nesh but doing the route in reverse to Strachur I think would be too hard - for me anyway! We can, of course, sort the route out on the day.... but I think Ramsay's suggestion of starting out a bit later might be a good idea and I would suggest we either go out and back the same way (shorter route to Strachur) or see if there are any takers for the longer route on the way back, which looks more do-able in that direction. Mary
  17. As others have said - many thanks indeed Dennis and Morag for a great day out in fine company. One indeed to come back for! The farm by Auchenheath where I lived so many years ago is called Nethertown (Newkayes Road), the cottage (which has been extended since) is called (now) Netherwood. The day I drove nostagia down! Many thanks again. Iain
  18. perhaps you could compare the computer.com whilst sprinting along next Sunday? M
  19. Sounds like a great day - I would like to come along too, in a "medium" stream, so if there are others wanting to do a distance of, say 50-60 miles, at a steady pace that would be good. Mary
  20. Tonight there were 7 riders in cold and blustery conditions! And the results are: 1st Seb 23:37 2nd Colin 24:46 3rd David 24:51 Other times: Greg 25-08 Iain C26:20 Ian McG 26:32 (PB - 2nd week in a row - 54 seconds quicker again !) Kenny S 29:26 £27:00 collected for club funds. Well done to all! Mary McAshworth
  21. Hi Kenny The dates are looking kind so there may be two takers from the Cowden/McAshworth clan. The main question is; whether or not the frail & elderly could make it up Mam Ratagan on the second day on 39 x 26 ? Iain
  22. Thanks to all for a thoroughly enjoyable workout! As Kenny says - Seb was a league apart - the rest of us just tried to hang in as best we could. I am certainly up for some more. Iain
  23. Fine with me. I'll be riding out from town so I'll aim to catch Ian & Colin on the Georgetown at 6pm. Iain
