  2. HAUTE ROUTE COMPACT 2015 ROUTES ANNOUNCEMENT Three Haute Route Compact events announced for 2015, offering the best of the Pyrenees, French Alps and Dolomites Swiss Alps Showcasing the very best of the Pyrenees, French Alps and Dolomites Swiss Alps, cycling enthusiasts will be able to sample the Haute Route multi-day format on the world’s most iconic cycling terrain following the launch of Compact events at all three Haute Route events in 2015. For the first time, three compact editions of the world’s highest and toughest cyclosportives will run over shortened two-day or three-day formats geared towards riders looking for a first taste of the Haute Route or those unable to enter the traditional week-long events. Professional-level support and courses steeped in cycling history remain the cornerstone of each edition and while the routes may be shorter, they pose no less severe or rewarding a challenge. To maximise riders experience and assure an impeccable level of safety on the road, there is an initial limit of 50 riders per Compact event. Find out more HERE. Register now HERE to secure your place. Highlights of 2014’s events can be found on the Haute Route YouTube channel. COURSES OVERVIEW The Pyrenees Compact (August 15th to 16th 2015) makes the most of a new West-to-East route, featuring a staggering 7,000 vertical metres of climbing over two stages. A non-timed parade through the beautiful Atlantic resort of Anglet Basque Coast starts the event on August 14th in the afternoon (registration day) before a mammoth first stage to La Pierre Saint-Martin that incorporates 4,000m of climbing. The second and final day pits riders against the fabled Col d'Aubisque and Col de Soulor during a 160km marathon stage to the finish line in Pau. The Alps Compact (August 23rd to 25th 2015) starts in Nice and breaks new ground on stage one featuring three cols new to the Haute Route: Col de Nice, Col de St Roch and Col des Portes. The second stage — with designated marathon status — passes the highest point of the week at the summit of the Col de la Bonette (2,715m). This majestic southern Alps passage is followed by the Col de Vars and the Col d’Izoard before stage three’s individual time trial to the summit of Col du Granon - a dizzying 12km climb from Serre Chevalier at an average gradient of 9.2 percent. An eagerly anticipated course announcement for the Haute Route Dolomites Swiss Alps on the 27th of November will include a Compact event (August 31st to September 1st 2015) starting in Geneva over a course that’s guaranteed to stretch riders’ limits.
