  1. I've got nothing else to do with my evening, so I'll timekeep tomorrow night. Looks like it might be damp, so a rear light may be a good idea! R
  2. Al, The club now has a track disc wheel that is available to borrow. It's with Lewis Mulholland until the end of May. Let me know if you want to borrow and when. Cheers, R
  3. If the group is working properly you should never open up a gap, the strong person should just stay at the front longer!!
  4. Can all riders wishing to be considered for confined event leagues, such as the League of 10 or the Chocolate series please let me know their personal best times for a 10mile TT within the last 3 years 2010-2012, (i.e. - prior to this season). If you don't have a 10m time, then can you please let me know your best time for the Georgetown in the last 3 years. Please PM me with times. Thanks, R

Hope you all enjoy.
  7. There are roadworks on the Clune at the moment (right at the bottom). The road was open this morning, but with temp traffic lights and long queues, so may want to consider taking the short cut up Heggies?? Signs say they will be in place for the next 3 weeks (starting yesterday). R
  8. Official results are in. Elaine was 2nd female (by a mere 3 seconds!) and 14th overall out of 71 finishers!! :banana :banana :banana
  9. George, There is a short, middle and long distance BAR, which is for the following distances. Short - 10, 25 & 30(now 50), middle is 25, 50 & 100, then long is 50, 100 & 12hr. Not sure if it would be of interest to you, but there is also a veterans BAR. You'll probably have to wait a few years to compete for that!! R
  10. Currently en route to Bute with Elaine for her first tri of the year. Judging by the conditions, the swim may be the driest part of the day!! :-) Report to follow.
  11. All, As there are a number of club members that continually choose to spoil a good bike ride with running and/or swimming ( ), I have created a new section of the bunch for all things triathlon/duathlon. http://www.johnstone...athlonduathlon/ Hope to see lots of race reports etc. up there from all our multisport competitors. Cheers, R :banana :banana :banana
  12. All, In recent years the club 25 mile championship has been decided by taking the fastest 25 times from all club members, without an actual event. However, this year it has been decided to incorporate the the 2013 JWCC confined 25 mile TT championship into the Sam Dooley event on 25th August 2013. The reasoning behind this is that all riders can compete on the same course, same weather conditions etc., without any claims of "my time was set on a hilly course on a windy day"... The Sam Dooley is an open time trial run under British Cycling/Scottish Cycling rules, and as a result anyone entering will need to have the appropriate BC licence. Entry can be found here:- https://www.britishc...-TT---Westferry If this format of incorpoating one of our championships into an open event does not work, then we will have a re-think for next year. Cheers, R As a wee reminder, the Sam Dooley is a JWCC open event, so any JWCC member entering is asked that they nominate another person to help marshalling the event on the 25th.
  13. Tuesday 14th May sees the second of the League of 10's series at the the West Ferry. First rider off at 18:45. A reminder that the start is under the railway bridge on the A8 Greenock/Bishopton Road (see link - http://www.johnstone-wheelers.co.uk/events/event/1/pp7gq8s41i7tf3hmhefj4ku2p8) Can someone please be kind enough to timekeep. Hope you all enjoy.

  19. This Tuesday (7th May) sees the first visit of the year to the West Ferry for the start of the League of 10's. There are 7 in total and they comprise of a 10mile time trial held over the West Ferry/A8 course from the Bishopton end of the A8 to the Newark Castle roundabout and back. The start is under the railway bridge on the A8 Greenock/Bishopton Road (see link - http://www.johnstone...6ujbumgmeud6qv0) First rider off at 18:45. Can someone please be kind enough to timekeep.
  20. Colin, I agree with Kenny. I use the 757 on my car, even though the book says I should be using something else. They work fine. R
  21. All, In recent years the club 25 mile championship has been decided by taking the fastest 25 times from all club members, without an actual event. However, this year it has been decided to incorporate the the 2013 JWCC confined 25 mile TT championship into the Sam Dooley event on 25th August 2013. Billy's post above has been amended to reflect this. The Sam Dooley is an open time trial run under British Cycling/Scottish Cycling rules. Entry can be found here:- https://www.britishc...-TT---Westferry Also, please note that the events calendar on the JWCC website is now updated for 2013 (apologies for delay) - http://www.johnstone-wheelers.co.uk/events-wheelers/events-calendar-wheelers#year=2013&month=4&day=28&view=month Cheers, R
