  1. 1st time this year we had the full grimness of Scottish weather with wet and cold up the coast. However the 14 strong, fast, disciplined and smooth rolling bunch made you forget the weather. It was a Carlsberg day for lights through Greenock and Gourock and I got my 2nd fastest time from westferry to cloch by just a few seconds and I'm sure the day I got the faster one had a screaming tailwind. After Largs there were 8 and Galeb joined us during the interlude to keep the pace rolling. I maxed out again by Kilbirnie and bought a ticket on the Galeb train back to Lochwinnoch. Hope the many JWCC squadra had a good run back over the Heelie
  2. Haha belter. I had a splendid lead out from a Flanders fanatic who is heading there for the umpteenth time this year, he is also a big fan of beer and frites. And being as it is a sensitive issue I thought I should clear it up for Billy and George, Ramsay and I can vouch for each other, no feet down on Koppenberg or Paterberg though it was very close having to weave in and out of riders who were grinding to a halt. Still rank this as one of top 10 days on a bike despite the inconvenient bollard that was a good somersault launcher.
  3. And talking of looking young !!! With Stevie Finnegan, Graeme Herd and Drew Wilson, early 90's I think before Tour of the Kingdom
  4. see you en route. I'll be passing Houston 0945
  5. Jan. I did consider a track session Saturday afternoon but there are none listed on the App. Easy decision then, bogs bunch it is !
  6. yip, great wee sesh with the derny,
  7. Guys, see flight times and prices below. Wed - Sun is the cheapest option for 5 days. I would much prefer the jet2 flight as it gets you there in time for a few hours run on Wednesday afternoon. Like Ginty 2nd week in June pushing it for me so my vote is 29th May to 2nd June but equally happy with 5th June to 9th June. Or I suppose Jet 2 flight out on the 5th and Easyjet return on the 9th (but that means an early morning depart on the Sunday about 7.30am - fine by me as won't be riding that day anyway) I have highlighted that option below. So couple hours Wednesday, big runs Thus / Fri / Sat. Easyjet Jet2 Wed 5th 0925 depart £155 Wed 29th May 0715 depart £91 Sun 9th 1040 depart £43 Sun 2nd June 1220 depart £111 £198 £202 Wed 12th 0925 depart £110 Wed 5th 0715 depart £109 Sun 16th 1040 depart £48 Sun 9th 1220 depart £95 £158 £204 Wed 12th 0715 depart £104 Sun 16th 1220 depart £72 £176 Let me know and lets get this show on the road.
  8. Stevie, I have fitted your 49 ring to try, thanks for the loan - not going to make track league as missed midnight deadline Thursday, emailed to plead case 5.30am Friday morn, have not had a reply.
  9. Iain, agreed, it was good to see everyone last night. I posted a new thread a few hours ago on this very subject, let me know if you want any more info
  10. Hopefully the title says it. Wee visit to Calpe, home of the pro teams in Feb/March, home of silky smooth Costa Blanca roads, home of many cheap bars and restaurants, home of Col de Rates 24-7 time trial, home of imho, the best 10km stretch of road in the world - just don't ask me which 10km as quite a few to choose from. Suggestion is fly out Thursday 6th June 7am flight means in Calpe 1.30pm, its a 50 min drive to Calpe from Alicante. My suggestion is to hire small car as they can take 2 x bike bags and 2 people and cheap. The theory of a large van has always worked out a lot more expensive in my experience. Get in a couple hours acclimatisation ride Thursday pm. Big rides Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I am happy to provide routes and variety. Return Monday or stay longer if you wish as you will know the roads by then. Is there an appetite for this? there was last night when beer was involved Calpe has bike hire options so no problem there if that is your preference.
  11. Anyone else going to be at Amaretto back of 5, Marc and I should be there
  12. I'll be at Houston bus stop 0945 - only for the reason I am not keen to stop at Renfrew for any time due to colder days.
  13. Lower JWCC representation tonight with Cedric me and Stevie. Cedric was in about it as usual in the A's. Stevie and I in the C's where there are 4 races. Stevie 4th and me 5th in first race, 2nd and 6th in next one (oh so close for Stevie, well done), Stevie got a sprint in the points but with some gaining a lap it might not be enough for top 5, in the final devil I was 5th. Enjoyed being in C's as I am only able to be at the thrashing and getting lapped end of the B's just now with work commitments getting in the way of cycling

    Spain 2019

I've booked from Saturday to Tuesday as #Harto is very flexible. Leaving lunchtime Saturday returning late Tuesday afternoon. #sunshine
  15. Evening folks, I would be happy to do targeted maintenance sessions, have a lot of years practical experience ……. when I wish I had less
  16. Indeed an excellent rolling and pacey bunch today, until Galeb projected some brown stuff at the fan a few km's out of Largs Not surprisingly after Largs it was all back in good order and rolling hard again, with the exception of the W Kilbride of course. I had a lights out moment at Kilbirnie and limped home hanging on to Galebs wheel and hardly able to muster up a cherio and thanks
  17. Bunch as usual 10am Saturday I plan to join along the road from Inchinnan. Passing Houston 0953
  18. Apologies, at business do on Friday night. However, I am a very serious athlete, so even with 5 hours sleep and too much gin I will be out for a Saturday morning bogs booting.
  19. I am counting myself out of this one as it is Easter weekend. One for the future though when it does not clash. Have fun folks.
  20. Great rolling bunch again today, till Galeb ripped the legs off Michael Storer on the run in to Largs! He gave him such a kicking he left us at Largs looked confused and asking for the nearest train station There may be some poetic licence in the above story. Good work from the JWCC guys
