  1. Thursday 6 September will be a busy night at the club. At 7pm Sarah will be present to discuss the coaching initiative with any club member interested in getting involved in this activity. Following that the club committee meeting will be held - these are open to all club members to attend so again feel free to come along and participate. Club clothing will be available and whilst there are stocks of bib-shorts, short and long sleeve tops and training jackets these are mostly medium / large sizes. See you there
  2. Having re-checked with AMEY re-potential roadworks I was today advised that a major project is planned to commence on Sunday as a result of which there will be contra-flow traffic on the A78 between Eglinton toll and the Papermill roundabout. Regrettably in discussion with the project manager it is not going to be possible to run Sunday's planned race.I apologise for the late notice but I was told on monday when I contacted AMEY that no works were planned for the weekend. I will contact those who supplied an E-mail contact tonight but can readers here please pass on this information to your club mates. Ian Manson Johnstone Wheelers The marshalls were, Kenny MacDonald Kenny Steele Iain Lang George Hamilton Katrina Hair Jim Daly John Anderson Frank Kennedy Tony Carrigan
  3. Thanks to those who have volunteered. Probably need about 8 marshalls to run the event safely so I am relying on those who have replied here and anyone else who might be free from 8 till 1230 on the day. Anyone fancy pushing off ( ) or time recorder? Darryl and Chung have enjoyed the latter in the last 2 years - you need a mobile fone for this

  6. I am organising an open 25 mile time trial on behalf of the club on Sunday 2 September. This event has run for the past few years and is at the Eglinton Park circuit on the outskirts of Kilwinning. I need marshals to help and am asking for about 8 volunteers. This will be between 8-1230 on the day I know there are other events on that weekend however in order for the event to go ahead I do need your help. This is the only Scottish Cycling event organised by the club this year. Can you please reply here or vie PM Thanks in advance

  8. Having attended the recent WOSCA meeting where Tom discussed this, and as Jim has noted, there are 2 separate events. The event open to E/1/2/3 is just over 1 hour. The W/J/4 event is just over 40 minutes. These events will run prior to the arrival of the Tour of Britain at around 2.30 on the day. There are a lot of attractions being planned for the day which is designed to try to encourage a wider introduction to cycling. If interested why not get in touch with Tom whose contact appears earlier in the thread and he can give you a bit more info Apart from coming last and bringing dishonour on the club would there be any other potential problems? Yes, people have long memories!!!!!

  12. I'd say that due to the endeavours of the gardeners and John Johnstone and Kenny Steele indoors - well it was raining too heavily - that the hall is fit to receive entrants on 24 June.

  17. Posted: Fri Apr 07, 2006 11:28 am Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Darren I've lifted this from elsewhere: Gateside is just East of Beith on the B777. You can usually park at or near the church / village hall. Start line is further out this road (ie away from Beith): you will notice a road heading off on your right with a notice about a whisky bond. Start is about 100 yards along this road. Route is along this unclassified road past the whisky bond until you reach the A736 (Barrhead - Irvine road); turn left (careful here - the A736 can be busy) straight until you reach Lugton and turn left at the Paraffin Lamp (pub) which brings you onto the B777 heading back to Beith and turn left again to cross start line. Lap distance about 6 miles. Race distance just over 4 laps (finishing at top of hill at whisky bond). I'm off on my hols tomorrow so won't be able to join you - or at the ttt on tuesday. Looking forward to hearing all about them though. Cheers SH
  18. Paul, I would doubtless have turned up anyway. Hopefully to top up the tan like last year. Just so long as Lesley Scally does not have any other new bikes to show off. Quite miffed me last year that Orbea!! I will be available to help.

  24. To allow members to show off clothing with the new club sponsors logos we have ordered a number of blue track tops which will have the 3 sponsors logo plus the club crest.
