One of my rules is never to race on any piece of kit or equipment you have not used at least once to iron out any issues. So set out today with new wheels, tubes and tyres to get them tested before tomorrow and met Robbie. Got about 1 mile up road and punctured, no big deal, got it sorted. Got about another mile up road and felt bumping from rear wheel, stopped, looked down and saw tube coming out through tyre, realised this was not good and just as I pulled my head back, bang. Tyre has separated from bead about 1" long and tube blew out through tyre. Stranded, phoned wife, got a lift home. Better than it happening tomorrow in the race so at least that bit worked.
