Committee Alan McLean Posted September 10, 2013 Committee Report Share Posted September 10, 2013 Just remembered reverse half-wheeling! Some people are a little uncomfortable riding bar to bar and drop back a little causing their innocent partner to be exposed unfairly as a half-wheeler. The innocent rider eases off a fraction whereupon of course the reverse half-wheeler falls back even further. Half-wheeling causes the entire bunch to explode in a positive feedback spiral of frenzied acceleration. Reverse half-wheeling causes a negative feedback descent into torpor and eventual complete baffled halting of the bunch. Not sure I have an answer. Needless to say my riding is perfect. :banana Oh and I'll follow wheels in line on smooth roads or velodrome but I'll always offset by a few inches on our awful roads. The rider behind can always stagger again to line up two ahead rather than drifting further to the same side.
Big Al
I was told to offset right an inch or two on the velodrome at Manchester and stay very close, that way you can always go up track
2024 Subscriptions Darryl Gunson Posted September 10, 2013 2024 Subscriptions Report Share Posted September 10, 2013 I think there is a difference between off-setting by an inch or so, and sitting so far out that the rider behind is also forced across the road. It's only the latter that is objectionable.
