Take THAT, ya bas!

Is it safe to raise my head above the parrapet ??

I am not a definite for this Sunday so might be looking for a volunteer leader/leaders for the 9:00 bunch.

Hope to be out but cant give 100% assurance at present .

Good news is new b/b fitted and will be tested at clubrooms tonight Oh ya dancer !

In the unlikely event that this :angryfire monsoon weather continues into Sunday, the clubrooms will be open at 9:00am for a group roller/turbo ride followed by tea/coffee ( bring your own milk)

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/HOME/ suggests sleet and bike misery.

Can't bring myself to commit yet.

Mental commuting weather this week but some company at least. I've met Dougie da Rosa and Graeme Cockburn from the Ivy on the Inchinnan/Renfrew Road. I just need to meet Mr Blom for a Renfrewshire hat trick. We are all a bit bored of horizontal rain.

Sadly won't make it out this Sunday. Committed to the misery of Xmas shopping :smash:rockets:angryfire:uzi

Going for a run down the track to Kilbirnie, then Largs and back the coast road on Saturday if anybody fancies it. Nice and easy. The company would be most welcome.

PM me or be at the clubrooms at 9am for what will probably be a good soaking

Colin.

So now we've got the 9:30 bunch, the thirty milers, the forty two milers and the Large Carbon Footprint Let's Stay in the Clubrooms With The New Heating On Where It's Warm And Dry Zero Milers :lol::lol:

I can do one of those fancy route maps

Might have to work on a new name for this new bunch though. Any suggestions???

Kenny S

we wouldnt be using the new fangled super heating as an hour long turbo session will ensure the clubrooms is very toasty warm , therefore its an eco friendly session ( but a bit smelly if we have a full squad sweating profusely or in my case 100% pure alcohol following Saturday night Hello, beer !! )

Re name groups :-

The laughing group ( replacing forty twa)

The chuckle group ( not quite as long as a laugh and it contains the chuckle brothers Kenny S and Alan Y) :smash:smash

Pulling back the curtains :-? it was a pleasant surprise to see no rain no snow and no ice Oh ya dancer !

When we got to clubrooms at 8:55am and no one was there and it looked like a lonely ride

Then Ian Manson arrived to carry out official duties , followed by Bill then Colin .

Mr Manson was indeed in officious mood and took time to reminstrate with a rider who cannot be named for riding thru a red light  as he turned onto cyletrack at Morrisons. Suitably reprimanded  Bill promised not to do it again DOH!

So the four musketeers left at 9:00am for the Erskine bridge, no sooner had we set wheel on track but we met Mullhooligan and Z at bridge over to Malcolms . Now 6 strong we set out across Linwood ,Moss road and onto Georgetown. Approaching Erskine Mulhooligan hearing Z was suffering with a bad cold took the chance to half wheel him ( full of the xmas spirit that man)

At bridge Z carried straight on and bade us safe journey.

Over bridge and thru Dumbarton Mullhooligan decided to impress us all with his aero riding style, only to be met with shouts of "stand up for fecks sake"

by the riders behind. In true Dundonian style he replied " ah am"and then retorted " am fitting an aero stem for next week"

A JCB type machine passed us approaching river Leven and it was game on Oh ya dancer ! Yours truly and Mullhooligan were first to react quickly followed by Colin and James. its amazing how easy it is riding behind these machines, maybe we should apply for lottery funding to buy one for winter runs :-P

Over the river and a right turn towards Jamestown.

Approaching the turn off it was my turn to cause mayhem :angryfire as I thought it was next turning :-?

Safely round the corner Carman road loomed up into the sky in front of our eyes :angryfire it must be one of the steepest climbs in this area.

Early leader K MacD stopped to take of his galsses as the steam eminating from his helmet had rendered them completly useless and unable to see thru

Back on the road I caught Colin and climbed upwards , meantime at head of the bunch James ploughed upward with Mullhooligan chasing him down. James won the KOM award again followed by Martin who very gentlemanly turned back to escort Bill up the climb . I scrabbled to 3rd with colin just behind and Bill crossed the summit to a standing ovation Oh ya dancer !

The descent was rapid and a bit scary  as birds kept flying out of hedgerow across path of bikes. First one bounced off my front tyre then one bounced off James headtube before falling to road stunned

At Cardross we turned back towards the bridge ( although Bill was keen to add Sinclair street to the route  ) A compromise was reached we could do another circuit of Carman road :rockets or head back over bridge and head to transmitter at top of West glen. West Glen won the choice and a climb up the gunpowder beckoned for Colin,Bill and Martin

On south side of bridge the MacD express headed back along Georgetown ( a wee spot of two up training ;-) )and home for grandson sitting duties and golf ( I will let you work out who was doing what ;-) )

Meantime the tireless trio headed for the hills :smash and some extra miles.

So we had Ken Mac doing a 30 miler, the 2 MacDs doing a 40 miler plus the trio doing 50 miles.

Oh no :uzi thats 3 groups and 3 distances .

Best get my flack jacket buttoned up and tin helmet on ;-)

Will post details of xmas away day soon Hello, beer !!

ps James tried to ride thru gate on moss road and wheel slipped into muddy hole bringing him down. The caring father that I am delighted him with choruses of "you fellover " all the way home :lol:
