  1. Totally agree, smashing but tough run today. Not sure I've progressed to the " Fast bunch" though. It was hard on the climbs especially with Cedric pushing on.Oh he thought that I was climber too. Gérard, your puncture predicament made us all laugh, but I wasn't laughing when Iain McG punctured at the crest of the Erskine bridge! ! It was freezing. So a refreshment stop in Bish was the answer.
  2. Maybe, if I do I'll be at the Erskine bridge 0930hrs. Don't wait.

Notification from RDC that Ferry Rd, Bishopton will be closed on 25/06/17 for one day. Expect it's from the lights at Bishy junction to roundabout at Erskine garden centre.

DNS for me, weather doesn't look good for the SA and I realise after my intermediates run on the 18/06/17 that I'm not the rider I used to be 40 yrs ago. Sorry guys.
  5. Clear out. 1) Pair Retro sprint wheels 28/32 chrome spokes Mavic hubs with Mavic grey rims 7 speed, no skewers. 2) Pair sprint wheels 28/28 chrome spokes Front Ultegra, rear Dura Ace hubs with Mavic silver SUP rims 10 speed, no skewers. 3) Pair Mavic silver SUP sprint rims 28/28 spoke UNUSED ! Looking for sensible and reasonable offers.

P Mcd, since joining the JWCC I've ridden two sportives and now attempting a SA monument this year !! But I'm willing to give the SA a go. I have chilling memories of the String but I face my fears on the 24th. I'm old, crabbit and senility is obviously setting in. I'll be watching the thread for details.

56 mls for SA is doable, so I'm up for that. I might regret it but you only live once !! Oh no, is it over the String ??

What distance is the SA ?
  9. I'm up for this, last time I rode this I registered 80+mls. Betsys was OK . What time at clubroom ?? OOOPS 9.30 at clubroom 😊
  10. OK , here's an old school repair for very small punctures. Suck up some milk with a hand pump and slowly inflate tub. DON'T inflate too hard and rotate wheel to get the milk around the inside of tub. The idea is the milk will congeal and fill any very small holes. The only downside is the milk stinks after a while .................................. It's certainly not a long term solution !!
  11. The Smuggler sportive was the toughest one I've ever ridden, and I've ridden a few. Around 700 participants took part in outrageous weather and extremely tough conditions. Long steep climbs especially the Beara short climb (segment) and the Exmoor moors to deal with. I finished the 50+mls in 4hrs 8mins at an average speed of 12.9mph, no results sheet but I'm satisfied with my ride.
  12. Smashing 2nd attempt run today with great JWCC company. Witty banter at Eglinton with tasty bacon rolls and hot coffee. Enjoyed the run, apologies to the group when we met "Black Bob " on the bike track and the increased pace that ensued. We had our differences back in the day, wasn't letting him away with it !!!
  13. Sorry, can't make it. On holiday.
  14. Unable to help 30/05/17, family commitments. sorry.
  15. Alan T , saw you riding very slowly on the Monkey house road absolutely drenched tonight. Yep, you didn't look too braw. Just dry out and get down to West Ferry tomorrow, forecast looks good.
  16. I'll help with "hauding up and pushing aff ! "
  17. Really horrible weather this morning but the JWCC intermediates made the best of the day. Reached Stewarton cafe in the rain and we all enjoyed a bit of food and a hot drink before our return home. Bunch split at Lochwinnoch and I met Paul Mcdonald strolling along in the rain with a good looking bird ! Thanks again Paul ( bronzed silky thighs !! ) for an enjoyable day out.
