  1. Can’t believe Jesse chased down Alan Mcb and me on the GT. We used to be mates. And word is Galeb was soft pedalling on the Westferry saving himself for the Clune. I need a faster pace to stop all this subterfuge. Too much fun in this group. Not enough pain.
  2. Usual place? It's not like we are meeting at the local toilets at 7pm for some nefarious activity. I'll be there at the nod, nod, wink, wink place.
  3. The group has become too large. The wait at the top of the Clune too long. Be best if the Renfrew Bunch restarted its Thursday edition. I'd suggest we get the Glasgow Couriers and our members who race to do the Thursday Renfrew Bunch. The JWCC Thursday chain gang was great when you were tapering for a weekend event and wanted a fun relaxed ride. It's still sociable but now with the increased numbers and the increased potholes its getting too dangerous. Alternative would be to set off in 2 groups but who'd be assertive enough to organise that? If only Donald Trump cycled.
  4. Sorry about overtaking the cars on the wrong side. Can't believe I did. The pace had been slow and I was dying to have a bash at the sprint to the top of the hill. No excuse really. At the May Day Gallop Gordon Murdoch tried to escape by cycling on the wrong side of the road. We all followed him and I though what a dick... I've joined that club.
  5. You mean like the Munt on Sunday? 15s intervals on Thursday (my rules and I go first so I can post up my ride first for the KoM). James Snodgrass has 2 attempts btw - must ask him why he posts all his rides twice on Strava , other than to doubly annoy me when he puts me down the rankings. Getting excited already.
  6. Yes. After the segment of the week. We could all make a small diversion and take it on...
  7. Starting easy made the whole TT really more enjoyable. But getting beaten by Iain dramatically spoiled the pleasure. Different pacing strategy next week.
  8. You got an air density meter? I need one of these. Or is there a website?
  9. Pressure is 996mb. Fantastic low pressure. Shame about the wind but if you pace it right there could still be a quickish time tonight.
  10. Westferry 10 mile TT tomorrow night 7pm. Especially good training for Double Arran aspirants.
  11. Let me get this right: The KoM was done on a smartphone which samples every 4 seconds. But we all did it on Garmins. And what is the sample rate on a Garmin? And you said Karl Bewick used to get dropped in neutral zones of Cat 3/4 races... Need more explanation Iain.
  12. I got the King of the Munt just after I joined the JWCC in May 2014. Been trying to go faster for 4 years (I live just round the corner) and failed. And Stevie comes along and beats me first time out. He hasn't had the full JWCC negative vibe treatment yet. I'll start it now. You'll never get that KoM Stevie! The weather forecast is so bad this week I'd stay in bed.
  13. I hope to come along and bring a triathlete friend. Hope she can be allowed to ride? She's a great wee rider. Jesse v2.
  14. Segment is warming up. Resting up for Sunday night in case Paul McD slips in a killer blow at the death...
  15. Charlie - what happened to your earlier plea to post on the board only if you are coming? In which case I better be there. See you 6 30. Looks a great wind direction for the Clune KoM. Could be a soft pedal down the Westferry for me
  16. Thanks for the assistance round yesterday. Quite disappointed with the time and I think even without the punctures the time would be slow. My average power for the first 40km was 228 watts and 251 watts for the last 50km. 7mins down on the round Arran KoM at the top of Lochranza climb so can't even blame the headwind on the run in to Brodick. My thoughts are we need to practice our paceline technique. For example I don't feel we were nailing our turns on the front sufficiently, especially on the downhills which was hard given the potholes and tight bends Anyway shouldn't beat you all up. The target was get the ferry. We did that. We need a new target Frustrated!
  17. I do think we are fit enough to re-take the Strava segment. You guys have done 2hrs 41s. Iain would need to sacrifice himself on the Lochranza climb and 2hrs 36mins has to be possible. I'd suggest you bring a gel too. Even 2.5 hrs can get you into trouble...
  18. Tongue in cheek. Early mornings in April are too cold. Weather too variable. My point was getting up at 5am for a trip round Arran is weird. My friends would think I was touched. It’s only 56 miles. Hardly epic. But we are quite fit and if we were to go to retake the Strava segment... 9 45 ferry is sane. Still be home at a reasonable time in the afternoon for people with jobs, family, friends and pet dogs.
  19. I'd like to come. What is wrong with the 9 45am ferry? If you are going to go for the 7am ferry may as well do the double Arran
  20. The Strava segment is called the Chain Breaker. I had a shot. Know now why the guys were grinding out the gear off the saddle.
  21. 9am Club Rooms. I may have to take legal action, Sale of Goods Act 1066, if the Galston Legbender doesn't bend the legs. I'd like to attack the hills if anyone is up for some efforts... wind direction could suit the Bowfield climb segment.
  22. Is their an algorithm for filtering out negativity? So depressed knowing people have such good excuses for not doing things. I’ll be along because I don’t have a life. No mates, no family, no job, no illnesses, no broken bikes, no sympathy.
  23. 40kph home down the Westferry. We probably overtook you. Don’t you love tailwinds!
