  1. Sounds like a good idea although not sure if i can make it yet
  2. Good day out, always like a trip over the water to Cowal.
  3. Cracking weather for it heres a video of the stretch along the Georgetown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LctQAszppKM
  4. There is some xc riding up the Glennifer Braes - possible to ride from the back of Elderslie to Barrhead covering sides of Robertson Car Park past Paisley golf course Glen Park, Brownside Farm and Firenze . This is mostly all traditional xc mountain biking rather than specific trails so can get muddy when its wet. There is some hardpack too which stands up to the weather better on the Brandy Burn side towards Elderslie at Windyhill Woods http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_svn4JmfZU At Clyde Muirsheil you can follow some of the paths and go up to the old mine, at Lochwinnoch there is Parkhill Wood there is a short loop in there. Fairly close by there is the Commonwealth Games course at Cathkin Braes (which is closed just now for the games) and miles upon miles of access roads at Whitelee Windfarm plus a small mountain bike skills area which is due to open soon. Further afield then Glentress down in Peebles is the big one. Purpose built trails to suit all levels of ability, would definitely recommend a visit there.
  5. Good run tonight - found it really tough to the extent that i kept checking to see if my brake pads were rubbing...unfortunately they werent!
  6. Enjoyable day, great scenary and cracking weather. About 1900 metres climbing and a tough headwind in places so my legs are certainly feeling it now.
  7. Running a bit late so will get the bunch at the bridge
  8. Good night for it. I need to be more careful when attaching my gopro next time - lots of video of my front tyre and the ground but not much beyond that!
  9. Sounds great, some distance and amount of climbing too. Were you not tempted to add on a wee bit and get to 200 miles?
  10. Happy to go out on a training ride / help plan a route with them although i think someone faster will be needed to lead it as i would be getting dropped early on! I know the course at Cathkin Braes but i wouldnt be able to give any meaningful race advice - maybe worth forwarding the request to Thomsons as they have a couple of youngsters in their race team who are handy xc mountain bikers and would be able to give some expert tips.
  11. Reluctant to post one as im not sure if i can make it yet. But how about up to Aberfoyle over the Dukes Pass and around Loch Katrine. Would be a bit over 100 miles club room to club room.
  12. Great ride, always like a trip over to Cowal. With the amount of climbing it was the sort of ride that has me full of good intentions about getting serious about my diet (the good intentions didnt last the full 90 minutes of a world cup game though!) Cracking ride by Charlie with only 2 useable gears - a big one that wasnt quite big enough for the flat and a small one that wasnt quite small enough for the climbs. Well done to Emma too for first main bunch ride. Special mention for the final sprint to Bishopton - Alan timing his sprint effort to perfection then adding some style to the victory with an arms in the air celebration. Only it was for the 40 sign with Billy then coming round to take the 30!
  13. I got an email today with start times and also information about getting to the start and finish etc Looks like an early one! Start Area: Yellow Wave:A Wave Load opening time: 05:15 Wave Load closing time:05:45 Start Time:06:15
  14. Kames is roughly about the same mileage although with more climbing.
  15. Fastest its been along the west ferry this year i think
  16. Enjoyable night - great weather although quite tough along the west ferry into the wind but we got the benefit of that on the return.
  17. Well done sounds like you were right in the mix.
  18. Yeah good day out (apart from the midges after the cafe stop!)
  19. The forum being open to non members does have some drawbacks but there are positives too in attracting new members - at least in my case i found it useful and it gave me a chance to check out what the club runs and so on were like before diving in.
  20. Ive always thought of this as a polite and civilised forum, certainly compared to the rest of the internet!
  21. Yeah was a good night. Thanks everyone for waiting when my tool bottle when awol after the pothole. Think i'll go back to saddlebag and/or pockets again!
