  1. I've been thinking about science of this. First of all you want to be sure the data are robust and free from bias. This means randomising cyclists to one of two groups: Hayley or WK. Randomisation needs to be independent. Given complex parameters as set by our resident expert Paul McD randomisation needs to be stratified according to criteria outlined earlier: needs a piddle, tiredness etc etc. this greatly increases number of cyclists required to be randomised. Ofcourse given the prevailing hypothesis: "6 of one, half a dozen of the other" this means or experiment tests a non inferiority hypothesis. Given variances around expected means for each group I would estimate that a randomised controlled trial of around 5,000 cyclists per group all using carefully calibrated Garmins will give us the definitive answer. Hope this helps. Andy

Great day, legs are properly tired after a brisk journey home after Largs. We took the high road, then Kilwinning, Kilbirnie then cycle track. Pace ramped up somewhat towards Johnstone so thanks Mark and Gorgeous for the tow by that stage. Andy

Week two of strength training better than last week. Have some energy left come Saturday after bouts 1 and 2 and first turbo session. Been using my own turbo routines as I can't find them on the Tacx website. Can anyone help? Andy PS colour coding going very badly because I don't have yellow. Have just improvised.

It rained, and it rained and it rained some more! There was a bunch of 8 all with mudguards; Ian, Billy, Ross, Richie, Greg, Hugh, Tom and myself. We headed down the cycle path then over to Largs from Kilbirnie. Ross' bike was a shining beacon of light! This made Ian angry so after Das Bagelhausen he broke Ross' mudguard. Big learning point was coming out of BB and discovering a puncture. From now on should send out a reconnoiter before leaving aforementioned BB to stand in the cold! Nice brisk pace up the coast then up over the Clune. Hugh was undesputed KoM today! Picked up cycle track and back home before 1-30. Great day, awful singing! See you next week :-))
