  1. Chung, I've never been to Strathaven but if you know the way that's fine by me, it's good to ry out new routes. I make it about 13 miles to Stewarton from Miller St, so say 9:45 at the crossroads in the middle. Graham.
  2. Chung, Thinking we might go down through Lugton, Dunlop & Stewarton. Maybe have coffee in Troon if the group are up for the distance (~55miles round trip from club rooms), else Dalgarven Mill nr Kilwinning (~40 miles). You could perhaps join us at Lugton or Stewarton?
  3. Whose up for an intermediate run this week? Thinking of going down to Ayrshire, but can vary depending on whose joining. 0900 Miller St.
  4. Eight riders but only one pair riding two up on a nice sunny evening with a little wind to make it interesting.... The results were: Billy 17:20 Richard 17:42 AlanT 18:03 Emma & Hamish 18:53 John S 19:39 Lusia 20:00 Carol 22:13 All paid bar Billy and the 2 Jets, £15 transferred to club funds. We done to all who took part!
  5. I've got a wheel at the menders at the moment, so I'll come and timekeep.....
  6. I'm looking to do a Saturday run this week, maybe to the Whitelees Windfarm, company would be welcome. Perhaps anyone who doesn't feel up to doing the double Arran and is not resting in preparation for competing in the Sam Dooley the following day. Meet 0900 at Miller St.
  7. I'm happy to marshal, did Langbank roundabout last year. Jane happy to help with pre race admin.
  8. Given the forecast and the lack of positive posts, I'm going to have a lie in and get the bike out on a drier day!
  9. I'm looking to do an intermediate run tomorrow, looks like it will be a bit damp but can decide a route based on who comes along. 0900 Miller St.
  10. I can't do a club run this week as I am going to the rugby sevens in the afternoon, but hope to be out for a quick hour or two early. PS. Jane managed to get velodrome tickets for Fri am through a British Cycling draw, so we'll be there before you Boyd!
  11. I plan to cycle to watch the Scottish participants in the women's and men's TTs, the running orders have not been published yet so not sure of the timings but the women start at 10:00 and the men at 12:30. To watch out on the course, where it might not be to crowded, I'm looking at 15 miles each way from Miller St, leaving about an hour and a half before the first Scottish start time, so that would be no earlier than 08:30, but may be later. Would anyone like to join me to ride there and form a Wheelers 'Fan Zone' when we get there?
  12. I was hoping to do this, but I'm now going to be in Glasgow so will miss it. Enjoy...
  13. With the lack of an intermediate run, and being time constricted this week, I'll join you from Kilmacolm to the ferry, then perhaps do Loch Thom with John S. I should be at the Pullman by 8:30.
  14. Hi James, we are in Leeds looking forward to seeing the start here in the morning before catching the train to Harrogate for the finish. We were in Harrogate yesterday and the town was buzzing with Le Tour. I expect it to be heaving tomorrow but should be fun and would be good to meet up with other Wheelers there if we can, perhaps for a meal after the race. Graham & Jane.
  15. Jane and I are planning to improve on our times this week......
  16. I expect to be in recovering after the Katrine Kapers Audax the day before, so will not be out but have a good run.
  17. Speed may help in managing exposure to the rays, but I find a good dose of high factor sun cream before setting out is the best solution. :-)
  18. Thanks to Mary, Karen and James for the company on this run, I did 80 miles all in so that will be 65 Miller St. to Miller St. a good days exercise. I'll not be out for the next 4 weeks so time for someone else to post a route or two!
  19. A circuit of Eaglesham Moor: Stewarton, Fenwick, Moscow, long way round to Eaglesham, cafe at Whitelee Windfarm, back via Neilston. Here's a map: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/fullscreen/442082338/ 67 miles from Miller St and back, meet at 09:00. Anyone interested?
  20. Thanks Mark, I plan on picking up my kit at Inchinnan tomorrow evening.
  21. Just rung the cafe and they seem able and willing to cater for cyclists, open from 11:00 - that should be fine so long as we keep to intermediate pace!
  22. I was thinking of Cafe Milano, which now seems to be called Cafe Craft and has 'diversified' into knitting and the like. I'll ring them up tomorrow when they might be open and check if they can cope with us.....
  23. Planning a run to Garelochhead, via Balloch and Glen Fruin. About 67 miles, with cafe at Garelochhead. Meet 0900 at Miller St. Note the Kilcreggan ferry does not run on Sundays at the moment, so will return via Helensburgh. I was hoping to do an Arran loop, but after looking at the forecast for Saturday and the ferries for Sunday, I think it's best to keep that for another time, whilst wishing those doing the double on Saturday all the best!
  24. I'm planning to do this Audax which starts from Bridge of Weir, and is the day before Milport. Any company would be welcome, it might be a one for anyone who doesn't fancy the racing on Cumbrae. As the name suggests the route includes Loch Katrine and places in that direction such as Callander and Fintry. Entry closes on 11th June, here's a link to it: http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-204/
  25. I propose to go to Strachur via Gourock, Western Ferries, Loch Tarsan and Glendaruel. Similar to the run that some of us did on 27th April, but instead of starting with the main bunch we may meet them at the cafe at Strachur. Its 30 miles to the cafe by this route, and total of 48 miles for the round trip back to the ferry via Loch Eck. I'm looking at the 10:00 ferry. The main bunch reckon on 1.5 hrs from Miller St. to McInroy's Point for the ferry, so at Intermediate speeds I reckon 2 Hrs. so 8:00 start at Miller St. and via the cycle track to Kilmacolm, down Clune Brae at Port Glasgow and stopping for ferry tickets at Pauls Food and Wine shop in Gourock. I will start from Kilmacolm (The Pullman Pub), anyone starting from Miller St. at 8 should be there around 8:45, so I will be there then. Anyone wanting to do the ride from Dunoon without wearing themselves out getting to the ferry could take a train and cycle the last couple of miles to the ferry, or leave their car somewhere near the ferry. Beware of parking restrictions, but there are car parks in the centre of Gourock and opposite the garden centre at Lunderston Bay, these are both about 2 miles from the ferry terminal - but in opposite directions.
