  1. It's great to have your help, the key time is clearly from 10:30, though there will be some preparatory activities needed like erecting & checking signage, seeing the course is clear, etc. but I don't expect it to be too onerous and hopefully there will be others to help!
  2. Details for the Club Hill Climb Championship as follows: 09:30 Road Closed 09.45 Sign on 10:00 Road open for practice 10:30 Senior event starts 11:00 (approx) youth event 12:00 Road open to traffic Any volunteers for timekeeping / marshalling? We need 2 timekeepers, 1 holder upper & 2 marshalls to guide traffic around the closed road. Please post if you intend to ride, or are able to help. As in previous years there may be some club rides starting from the hill after the event - for those with energy left over!
  3. Thanks to Gerard and Andrew for a good ride today. Up Loch Lomond side, coffee at Arrochar, old road over the Rest, Hells Glen, ferry back from Hunters Quay. I recorded 100.4 miles, a good intermediate run!
  4. I'm planning on going out this Sunday, weather looks promising so thinking of a longer run but at intermediate pace. Open to suggestions, but I'll suggest over the Rest and back by Dunoon, other ideas welcome. 09:00 Miller St. and go from there.
  5. A few photos of Wheelers in the Novice Race, it was great to see so many Wheelers out for both the Novice and APR races, but I didn't stay to record the APR!
  6. The last Tuesday evening confined event of the season, the second of this season's hill climbs, a good turnout last week but the more the merrier. Start at 18:30 this time, so meet a few minutes before. Two of helpers to timekeep and an additional helper to hold-up will be appreciated, but as last week we can improvise if there aren't enough people available. This is the last 'practice' session before the Hill Climb Championship at 10:30 on Sunday, 4th Oct. The route is as per previous years, but here is a link for anyone who has not done it before: JWCC Hill Climb Route As last week lights are advisable, particularly if planning to cycle home. I plan on riding this one, and getting a better time than last week!
  7. Thanks Carol for timekeeping, it was a good evening - seems more fun now than it did at the finish! Well done to everyone who took part, I'll need to get some training in before the club championship.
  8. Not really a regular Sunday run, but I am planning on doing a 3 ferries ride to coincide with cheering on our competitors at Rothesay. Getting the 09:30 ferry from McInroy's Point, Gourock then past Loch Tarzan to Colintaive for the ferry to Bute before the start of the Novice race at 13:30, and the APR at 14:30. Then back via the Rothesay - Wemyss Bay ferry. I will be starting from Kilmacolm at 8:30 to cycle down to the ferry, company welcome either from McInroy's Point or meet up at the Pullman in Kilmacolm. About 56 miles round trip from Kilmacolm.
  9. We could do with a couple more helpers for this to assist Carol, we will need a timekeeper at the top and one at the bottom as well as a holder-upper. Should be a fun evening.
  10. A bit late for posting the times, but I had a nice afternoon out with my parents! A bright sunny morning, though the road was damp, the times were: AlanT & Gerard 16:46 pb Emma & Richard 17:24 Carol & Dave 20:13 Well done to all, and good to catch up over a coffee at Erskine Garden Centre. Thanks to George, Chung & PaulL for holding up and supporting.
  11. The first of this season's hill climbs, it's not very long but it's tough! Start at 18:30 this time, so meet a few minutes before. As usual a two of helpers to timekeep and hold-up will be appreciated. The route is as per previous years, but here is a link for anyone who has not done it before: JWCC Hill Climb Route The nights are closing in, so it may be worth having lights, particularly if planning to cycle home. I plan on riding this time.
  12. Hi Karen, The evening hill climbs are as on the Confined Events Calendar, here, but are both at 18:30. As the nights are drawing in, the start times are getting earlier. It may be worth having some lights for the evenings, particularly if you are planning to ride home.
  13. A bit of advanced notice of this one, but we have an official Renfrewshire Council road closure order in place for this, so that should help to make it a good event. There are 2 Tuesday evening practices in advance of the main event (15/9 & 22/9). The route is as per previous years, but here is a link for anyone who has not done it before: JWCC Hill Climb Route
  14. There's silverware at stake this time for the David Raymond Trophy, in the clubs 2-up championships. As usual first-timers and returners welcome! If you don't have a partner to ride with don't worry, you may find one on the night, or you can ride solo (Though solo rides will not count for the trophy!). First rider off at 09:30, meet at 09:15 at the usual place towards the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road. Here's the link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route for anyone who may not have done this route before. I plan to be there to timekeep, but additional help for holding-up would be appreciated. Some riders are planning to go for a fairly gentle club ride (recovery ride?) after the competition, the route will depend on who is there, weather, etc. All competitors / helpers / supporters will be welcome. As Previously, note the sensitivities with the personnel at the military site next to where we start, so please take extra care to respect their property and their access.
  15. Hi Gerard, I'll meet you at Amarettos in BoW at 0930 then. Graham
  16. Yes, I'll come along. I suggest we choose a meeting point, time and route based on those coming, and their starting locations and time availability. So long as I'm back for the club development meeting in the evening I can be out all day!
  17. The third and last of this years 2-up TTs before the 2-up championships (on Sun 13/9). As usual first-timers and returners welcome! If you don't have a partner to ride with don't worry, you may find one on the night, or you can ride solo! First rider off at 18:30 this week, meet at 18:15 at the usual place towards the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road. Here's the link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route for anyone who may not have done this route before. Offers to timekeep will be appreciated. I don't expect to make it this time. Please note: There are some sensitivities with the personnel at the military site next to where we start, so please take extra care to respect their property and their access.
  18. Well done to the competitors this evening, the times were: Richard 15:47 I Couttie & I McG. 16:39 PB I Cowden 17:07 Alan T & Gerard 17:13 Carol & Dave 20:10 Lusia 20:39 All adults paid except I Couttie who will transfer direct to club account. £21 collected for club funds.
  19. The second of this years 2-up TTs. As usual first-timers and returners welcome! If you don't have a partner to ride with don't worry, you may find one on the night, or you can ride solo! First rider off at 18:45 again this week, meet at 18:30 at the usual place towards the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road. Here's the link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route for anyone who may not have done this route before. I plan to be along to help officiate. Please note: There are some sensitivities with the personnel at the military site next to where we start, so please take extra care to respect their property and their access.
  20. Thanks Alan for officiating, well done to the PBers. A good run, followed for some of us by a well earned cafe stop and a little tour of Inverclyde.
  21. Thinking we could do a bit of a ride after this TT, maybe recover over a coffee at the Carrick Centre, Houston and then go on somewhere?
  22. Hi Kenny, happy to help in any way as needed, in previous years I have marshalled at Langbank.
  23. A fine evening for a TT this evening and some good times: Richard 15:31 Iain Couttie 16:58 pd Alan T & Gerard 17:10 PB pd Hamish 17:42 PB Emma 18:53 pd (+£3 for last week) Carol & Dave 19:52 PB pd Well done to all. £21 collected for club funds, Richard is transferring his fee to the club directly.
