  1. For sale. Trek 1.2 bike with full new Bontrager mudguards fitted. This bike is practically brand new having been ridden three times only. It is a 54cm frame and was bought two weeks ago for Kayleigh to use this winter. She has done approx 200 miles on it over three rides . It is totally immaculate and was proving to be a great winter steed and an enjoyable ride. However, Kayleigh has now been provided with another bike by a sponsor and so the Trek is now surplus to requirements. It came at a very reasonable price and I can therefore let it go at a very reasonable price. The bike will be in use on Saturday and Sunday this weekend and will be up for grabs come Monday . Price £400. an excellent buy for someone. (advertising here first as we stay local but will put it onto her club network if it is not sold in next couple of weeks) This link shows the same model bike and spec. the bike in the photo is the same colour. http://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/bikes- ... 011-p83143 contact me on [email protected] if interested. Cheers Jim
  2. Allan, Rab does blogs on the Kinesis Morvelo project web site. He did the way in a day but he is an exceptional rider! Here is a link to a You tube clip from the blog....... Cheers Jim
  3. Hi Allan, Rab Wardell who is an SC Regional development coach done it recently and covered the entire thing from start to finish in a blog of some sort. I am not sure where you will find that but it's probably searchable on the net. You should be able to contact Rab via Scottish Cycling and I am sure you will find him forthcoming with some advice.
  4. For sale, Pair of Bontrager T2 tyres, 700 x 23. Brand new and unused. Bontrager site price is $18.99 each. Looking for £15.00 for the pair. Won't use them so no point in keeping them. Also, pair of Bontrager R3 PLUS, 700 x 23. Again new and never been on a wheel. These were given to Kayleigh by a 'sponsor' when she was racing in Trexlertown during the summer. They are higher end road racing tyre but are also very popular track clinchers in the USA. Lightweight, puncture protection, white wall with slick black contact area. Nice tyre but again surplus to requirements. These retail for @£30.00 each. Looking for £35.00 the pair. Give me a shout on [email protected] if interested. Cheers Jim
  5. Nice one Martin. Good to get them on the ladder early. If he makes a success of it, and I bet he will, you can look forward to many trips to Manchester and Wales while investing all of your time and what can seem like your life savings on carbon frames, bars, seatposts, Wafer thin tubs and all manner of other UCI compliant 'trackie bling'. So, don't worry about the 'dad thing' because you are definately going to earn it! Roll on Glasgow! Cheers Jim
  6. Yep, she's quite happy with that Charlie. It's not everyone who can say they finished ahead of Lizzie Armistead in a National Champs! Every rider, bar two, who finished ahead of her is either a British, European, Olympic, World Champion or Commonwealth medallist and is supported by BC. She also finished ahead of a few others who also fall into those categories so 13th from 27 is not a bad result in a race she no longer trains for. Her doing was one of about 10 well planned doings she got at the hands of various bunches in the space of four weeks of a seriously heavy period of necessary pain! She says it was a tough wee ride and the clune would have killed her. I'm sure she'll be back next year for a few more . It was good of you guys to allow her to join you. Much appreciated.
  7. Nice start to a future track career? Kayleigh said Ben looked very strong indeed.
  8. Well you guys certainly know how to put a days racing together. Clearly a lot of hard work put into planning and organising before and during this event which seemed to run like 'clockwork'. Happy marshalls everywhere, maps of the course , briefing notes, toilet facilities, motorcycle escorts, sponsorship, PA systems, photo finish, etc, etc. I don't think you missed anything guys. A great days racing for riders and spectators and a fantastic advert for the sport. Very impressive. Well done. Cheers Jim
  9. Thanks Billy, sounds like the Renfrew Bunch route? Where is the meet?
  10. Hi Guys, was wondering if this is a race paced run, route, miles and average speed? My daughter is sometimes looking for a 'brisk' midweek bunch run and was wondering if it would be ok to join you the odd night when she can? She isn't looking for any mercy and can look after herself (and others) in the bunch and if she gets dropped. Cheers Jim
  11. Ooh er! I stand corrected. I can tell you that in the five or more years that I have been up and down there with Kayleigh I have never once come across anyone who has ever had any problem with crank length. I know of a number of current Scottish and GB riders who are on the tracks mentioned regularly, who favour longer cranks and have never had any problems. In fact I was recently trying to get a second hand set of 170's and contacted the staff at Newport and Manchester to see if there were any adds on their boards. I was even offered a swap from one of the senior staff at Newport who had been using 170's and was changing down to 165's. No one even mentioned regs!! I see there is also mention of tyre width for manchester. There are countless wheels on there every week with 19 or 20mm rubber and no problems with that either. Seems that common sense prevails and the regs are not strictly imposed. What does get checked at races is the compliance to BC regs and one in particular concerning the distance between the end of the saddle and the centre of the bottom bracket so the geometry of the bike is certainly important. Oh! By the way, if this thread has left anyone considering the purchase of a set of 165mm cranks. I still have an immaculate set of Dura Ace available for sale
  12. Hi Richard, There is no 165mm crank restriction at either Manchester, Newport or Meadowbank. 170's are perfectly ok and within the rules. More to do with leg speed and type of racing than the angle of the banking. Sprinters generally tend to go for the 165's and pursuit riders generally tend to favour the longer cranks. There is a big crossover though and at the end of the day it is all down to personal preference rather than rules and restrictions. Cheers Jim
  13. My sprog seen it on face book after the race Iain. Pleased for her. Nice one! Cheers Jim
  14. All sound advice from Kenny. Loctite make a bearing adhesive that can be bought from the bearing wholesaler situated in Abercorn street, Paisley. It's on the right opposite performance tyres as you travel up the street. The stuff you are after is loctite 638 retaining compound. It is an engineering quality locking cement that resists a serious amount rotational force and will possibly be effective if you still have a slight degree of contact between the allen key and the head of the bolt. It costs about a tenner for a small bottle. check it out on the loctite website to find out if you still have the tolerances between bolt and key required for it to work effectively prior to any drilling. Cheers Jim
  15. Sounds fantastic Kenny. You have obviously got some 'dirt' on the council stashed away somewhere! Just wondering if there is a womens champs / seperate race etc? Also wondering what the grand prix format will be and will it be possible timewise for competitors to ride both? Cheers Jim
  16. Kayleigh has 3 hours steady scheduled for this Sunday and was wondering if there are any bunch runs going out that she might tag along with? Cheers Jim

  18. Hi folks, Kayleigh has been very fortunate to have recieved an invite to compete in the Grand Prix of Trinidad over the easter period. This has been at very short notice and I can not find a decent bike box for her track bike and wheels that can be delivered before her departure on wednesday. So... I'm looking to buy if anyone has one for sale. Alternatively, any info as to where I would get one at short notice would also be appreciated. Looking for the Sci con or 'Bike box Alan' types but anything considered. Getting desperate! Thanks Jim
