Westferry 10 TT - League No.7 - Tuesday 16th August
Agent Orange. replied to Ramsay's topic in Confined events
Well done all on ploughing through the westferry wind tonight. Alan and Matt, thankyou for the recommendations, appreciated. Billy, you are quite right. I have gone soft recently and i know the cause. I felt different immediately after shaving my legs for the first time. A distinct loss of mojo like a cycling Samson. The streets of Maryhill now seem a whole lot more dangerous when i walk to Asda in my shorts. People are confused by this big man with a hairy face but smooth legs. -
Westferry 10 TT - League No.7 - Tuesday 16th August
Agent Orange. replied to Ramsay's topic in Confined events
Hi Folks, Once again, no TT for me tonight. My bad back was aggrivated by a slip and fall on cobbles last week. I've turned into a doddery old man who now needs to see a chiropractor. (Can anyone recommend me a decent/reasonable one?) I can ride a bike ok but just not in aero mode. I may come down tonight to watch/assist. Regards, Ben. -
Westferry League 10 TT - No.6 - Tuesday 9th August 2011

Unfortunately i am going to have to miss this one too. My back is still giving me jipp and just not up to the rigours of a TT aero position. Hope to be mended for next week, Have a good one folks. Ben -
Westferry 10 No. 5 - Tuesday 2nd August 2011

No TT for me. Going to take it easy today as i've managed to relapse my back troubles in the gym. Plan to spend the day on ebay. Need to sell some shiny bits to finance the purchase of some shinnier bits - The life of a Magpie. Enjoy, Ben -
Count me in for sure.

West Ferry 10TT - Number 4 - 26 July 2011
Agent Orange. replied to Ramsay's topic in Confined events
Well done Ian C, glad you're new bike is working for you. Sure you'll just keep knocking that pb down now. Shame about Phils pedal, i've had my share of mechanicals but never during a tt fortunately. Curiosity got the better of me tonight and i decided to go out with the Renfrew Bunch. Holy smokes!!! Hard and fast run. Couldnt see out my left eye for sweat going up the Clune. Good fun though. Hoping this weather lasts. Hasta luego, Ben -
A cracking morning to be out riding, a difficult place too find though. The sat nav was a tad confused looking for the strip location. I posted 20.21 to win the event. Suprised myself as my warm-up was hampered by a puncture to both front and rear. I packed everything in my bag including winter overshoes but forgot my spare tubes and repair kit! Ian Grant gave me tube and the Dales boys repaired my rear 5 mins from my push-off, lucky to make it! Well done Ramsay, Kenny C, Ian C and Mike. Shame we did'nt put in for the team prize, may of challenged Dooleys? Cheers Folks, enjoy the sun. Ben

Tuesday 19th July - Langbank Hilly Time Trial
Agent Orange. replied to Jannza's topic in Confined events
Thanks a lot for that Jann. Thanks for the hold Mark. Really enjoyed being out on the bike tonight. That old pub in Houston looked especially inviting though as i wheezed past. Sorry i beat you Ramsay, a close call. Console yourself with Phils beer! Ben -

I'll be out for this. Do we meet to the left of the roundabout in Langbank then? Great photo of you Ramsay btw, most folk look so serious in those tt pics! Ben -
Thanks a lot guys. And my thanks again to Kenny C for the lift over and back, much appreciated on a wet morning. A doffed aero helmet to Kenny too as he rode a new pb. It felt fast on the course and i did not feel wind in any direction. Ran outta gears for the most part so i knew i was on a good ride, not 19.53 good though! Very happy with that. Just hope i can stay consistant. Enjoy the weekend, Ben.

Thanks again Mary for timing, you earned your vino tonight! Apologies for the confusion surrounding my PB. I (wrongly) thought i did a 57.30something last week so just nodded my head when asked if that was a pb. So i was 4 secs slower tonight than last week, that feels right. Ramsay was fairly flying tonight, passing me twice on the climbs, well done to him on another smashing pb. Well done everyone for turning up and riding hard - He who dares Rodders, he who dares! A good warm up for next weeks hilly TT. Ben

I'll be there. Ben

Rode the 'Fastest Course' in Escosia today. Unfortunately i did not find it to be the promised land of fast times despite the decent conditions. I posted 21.03 to finish joint 5th. Some 39 seconds behind winner Arthur Doyle. A bit dissapointed with myself to be honest as i have been a bit slack in training recently and worryingly, last week i reaquainted myself with the rosey-cheeked goodness of continental wheatbeers. I'll get back on the wagon now. Ramsay swung by and with my missus Jo, we formed our own Joansin clique awaiting the results. Ramsay did'nt ride this one, i think he's saving his glutes for more tuesday night torture this week. Till next next weeks Westferry bash, hasta la vista. Ben

Hi Paul, David. Just to let you both know that i have withdrawn from the Eddie Morgan RR. I stupidly double booked myself on sunday with a TT in Irvine. Given my current form i decided that i would fare better in the TT so i've gone for that. I emailed Scot 'skinnytyres' organiser and now maybe Charlie could get my place? Anyway, best of luck to you guys, Av' it large! Ben

Hi Geoff, Sounds like fun, i would be up for this and i'm sure more from jwcc would be too. Rumours abound that a roundabout will going down on the Georgetown so best that we race it as much as possible in its current form. Cheers, Ben

I CANT WALK!!! Feel like my legs got whacked by Vladimir Klitschko. Many thanks to the eloquent and dapper Kenny C for timing and a much appreciated lift home. Maybe 'Vermin Control' could soon be added to his list of forte's. (titter titter!) Salut, Ben

I'll be there. Like Phil, i have not been there before. Getting to the start will challenge my shocking sense of direction and map reading skills. Ben

Chocolate TT Georgetown - Tuesday 28th June
Agent Orange. replied to Ramsay's topic in Confined events
Thanks again for timekeeping Ramsay. A quality job but not as generous as i with the pb's i notice (grin!) Slighty anxcious in leaving behind pleasant little Georgetown for a season and to be entering a whole new world of pain with next weeks 25. Ben -
Hi Paul. I got a start for the Super 6 B Race this saturday morning in Newton Mearns so won't be able to make the Arran run unfortunately. The idea of 7am ferry does fill me with dread though i must say! I would have to leave the house at 5 atleast to make that. I still really fancy this ride though. Good luck if you go for it! Ben
-
I hope to make this. Just need confirmation from work that i'm off. See if i can reach double figures for puntures on my roadbike in two weeks. Mechanicals and the mean streets of Maryhill awash with Buckfast glass are conspiring against me! Ben

Inverclyde Velo 10TT - West Ferry - 19-06-2011
Agent Orange. replied to Ramsay's topic in Time Trials
Thanks a lot Ramsay, Kenny. Great to see you all out on what was a fairly miserable morning. Willie's is right though, we do need to get some Team TT Training in. With the turn-out on tuesday nights and the quality of times i reckon we have the numbers for two teams atleast. Kenny, Bad luck breaking that spoke. It looked to me like you were on for a Westferry PB an all. I meant to say to you to check out the St Christophers CC Gallery for photos of the jwcc riders from the Willie Rafferty, some good clear shots of us all that night. Cheers, Ben. -
To amend the times from tuesday night guys we need to add on 20 seconds to everybody. That will bring us closer to reality. You need not know how i managed to make this error If you need me, you'll still find me on the naughty step. Ben.

Ok folks. I think its obvious now that i made a total calamity of the time-keeping last night. And to mess up on such a nice night where pb's and new records could be made, well, i feel like an idiot to say the least. I know where i went wrong now, but even if i rectify the times i still doubt that they would be accurate. So if a trophy is at stake then i would say to sweep last nights times under the carpet. I know Georgetown isnt the olympics but its important to us all, certainly has become the highlight of my week. I dropped a clanger in volunteering for my time-keeping debut last night. My sincere apologies to all of you. Ben.

Ok folks here are all your times from tonights Georgetown. A warm, still night resulted in some fast times and many a pb. In order you went off :- Josh 18.57 Tom 18.58 PB Phil 16.55 PB Kay 24.03 Al 18.11 Elaine 24.30 Greig 21.49 PB John 21.05 Mike 17.19 PB Billy 17.53 PB Lyndsey 18.55 PB Iain M 20.03 First ever TT= PB Davie 18.15 PB Mark 17.23 PB Greg B 17.03 Ian C 18.58 First ever TT (Welcome to jwcc!) = PB James 16.27 Kenny 16.33 PB Graham Puncture (Bad luck Graham) Mary 21.04 PB ? (Sorry Mary i screwed up both you and Tams times... was a minute out on both) Vicki 17.00 Tam 14.44 PB Course Record. (Also sorry tam) Right Guys, i have to hold my hands up here. I have never time keeped before and basic maths is not and never will be my strong point. I sent Josh off at 18.46 sharp and these are the resulting times. HOWEVER, i was a little overwhelmed by the numbers that turned out tonight and also riders were coming back as the last were pushing off. (Again, my error in poorly seeding riders) I wish i had an experianced hand looking over my shoulder tonight and really i should of started procedings at 19.00 which would of allowed for time for late comers and also keeping the sums easier. Maybe 19.00 would be better for future? Tam Gordon rode a course record tonight only for me to calculate and read out the wrong time. He did a 14.44. Hats off! I feel really guilty guys. I'll stick to riding in future. Here, have some of your favorite smilies and banana's on me! And another banana...... Ben. Oh yeah, £54 in the coffers of jwcc. Everyone paid (Bar those who did'nt, and you know who you are!!!)
