  1. Ok Guys, does not look like any takers for tonight . So I will not be bringing the lights along. If anyone turns up tonight they will need to use their own bike lights, I guess. Hope normal activity will resume on Tuesday 1st Nov., Martin willing! James
  2. Well Alan, looks like you were quite right. The last 2 events have seen me about 10 paces off the bottom of the field. Might even have been more at Mugdock if I had not been feeling a bit rough. The bike is behaving well. Next round for me will probably be Strathclyde Park. The best is yet to come! Cheers James
  3. Thanks Richard that was really helpful, especially as they spelt "pre-wash" wrong! And it is difficult to find. I tried 3 supermarkets to no avail. Thanks Mark for your amusing idea ! and to Graham for your useful suggestion. Anyone else wish to comment? James
  4. Thanks Richard. I will try to get some of those. J
  5. Hi Just thought I would try and get some tips on clothes washing . Seems to me that cyclocross events are particularly muddy this year and I am having problems getting my washing clean! Whoever chose the club colours must have had a good washing machine! Ok, so a pre-soak is required. For this I use a large spoonfull of borax and soak the clothes for 24 hours before putting them into the washing machine at setting "D" that is a 40 degree wash for cottons/polycottons. Then I press the heavy soil button and switch on. Does anyone have a better suggestion? In desperation, James
  6. Yes, I was keen to see that too. Sorry you have flu, I was hoping for a re-match at Mugdock. Hope you are better by then. James
  7. Hi Martin I could probably collect the lights (if you are still talking to me), but who would do the coaching? Perhaps Paul would have a go after his splendid performance at Plean? James
  8. Really? Not very clever of us, but was it our fault? I never saw a finish flag all day! Turns out I beat you afterall though Where is Knockburn Loch? Anyone going to compete there? James
  9. Wasn't that fun! Your injury Duncan, explains why we had a race to the line. Superb time. Had some pretty spectacular falls myself (no photos ). Sorry to hear about your bike Martin. You can get a rear mech from Decathlon for about £7 lol. Bring on Mugdock . James
  10. Hi I would be very grateful if the Club Secretary could forward my racing license to myself or get in touch so I can collect it from him. Thanks James
  11. Interesting idea. What do you talk about? lol. So anyway, what model of Lumicycle do you recommend? Or for an alternative, what beam range and quantity of lumen are we talking about? Regards James
  12. Hi Davie, What did you choose in the end up? Quite a few to choose on this site. Regards James
  13. Sorry I missed the World Championships in Denmark. If anyone comes across this on TV again would they please let me know. Also, I hear there was cycling on BBC 2 the other day. Missed that as well I am afraid. Regards James
  14. If anyone is talking about cycling after dark then they either need their head examined or they have a good headlight! What does anyone recommend? Talking about getting your head examined, I was hearing how one chap walking home on a country road by moonlight, decided to try walking with his eyes closed to see what it would be like to be blind. He worked out that if he walked near the edge of the road his foot would make a noise on the loose gravel and he would adjust his direction. So he started off and shortly his right foot caught the gravel, so he took a big step to the left and went head first over the dyke! What had happened was that with his left foot he had stepped over the gravel onto grass and did not realise that he was on the opposite side of the road. A true story. You could try this with a bike, it might work better. lol. Regards James
  15. Hi Tony Jets training on a Satrurday will probably stop at the end of October. By the way how do you capture someone elses remarks and post them in your own response here? Regards James PS. Sorry for calling you Brian at the National Champs!
  16. Hi, I would just like to thank all involved in supporting the Vets in their race. Certainly helped me to get to the finish line. Regards James
  17. Not sure if those video clips boosted my confidence much! Will be there none the less. Dismount needs a bit more practice. James
  18. Hi, That sounds like fun but I would probably need to wait till the Jets training stopped for the winter period before I could join you for Saturday morning runs. Regards James
  19. Hi I am looking for a long sleeved Johnstone Wheelers top, size medium. Any age and condition considered. Need it to identify myself while cyclocross racing. Thanks James
  20. Wow, hope I have not missed the boat. Count me in too please. James
  21. Hi Davie I will try to get there as early as I can. Will probably look like a Christmas tree but may not be that effective! First time for everything. James
  22. Hi Definitely interested. I would like to try the course out before the big day just to get an idea of what it will be like. Thursday 22nd looks a good possibility. Where exactly will we be meeting? I don't know the area particularly well, but could probably find the car park as used for the event in January. James
  23. Well it has arrived. Emma and I cycled upto Muirshiel and back this afternoon. The Kona went well . Not such a good report for Emma's bike unfortunatly. 1 street away and the rear mech wrapped itself round the back wheel. Just need to get some spd pedals for the Kona. I will probably put it in to Willie Cosh to check it over, especially as it was not packed very well. Thanks for asking!
  24. The Tour of Britain starts on 11th September and runs to the 18th. Will it be shown on ITV4? More information at http://www.tourofbritain.com/default.asp
