  2. Hi Jann, I have just paid a family membership of £50 by bank transfer. I assume that the membership of Johnstone Jets will be separate payment. Is that correct? Regards, James

  5. Thanks Duncan, has this been sorted now can you tell me? James
  6. Sorry for the delay Alan, I'm not being notified by The Bunch of any replies to my postings. My email addresss is [email protected] My daughter, Emma, has a form sent to her which I will use and print off. Can I assume that we all send cash separately? Are we all going for the 100 miler Super Challenge? I'm nervous already! Regards James
  7. Hi Martin, thanks for confirmation that there is nothing wrong with them. They came from Wiggle, but arrived without any extra wrapping just original box. Hence my concern. Anyway, Kate will be a lot happier now. cheers, James
  8. Hi, If not too late, can you add my name please. Regards James
  9. Can't believe it! Was that a Wheeler I spotted at the Kilbarchan road end heading towards Brookfield at 7.30 this morning? -4.0 it said in my car. Don't know how anyone can stay upright in this weather. Thought I was going to get Hypothermia just in the car. Could not stop myself from yawning! Regards James
  10. Great guys! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. £50 or £70 for new is much better than 2nd hand on eBay! Doesn't help with the existing problem though. All bolts done up nice and tight. Don't think it's a bike problem but will check this out. Thanks, James
  11. Hi, I recently got a set of Tacx Antares rollers for a little over £100. Can someone tell me if it is normal to get a clicking noise off them when they are in use? Should I just turn up the music? But it is a bit off putting when you are learning. Sounds a bit like the bearing in a roller is moving. Any suggestions? Regards James PS. I confess, it is not I who is using them.
  12. Saturday, 8 December 2012 Scottish Cycling Cyclocross Championships - POSTPONED Tomorrow's Scottish Cycling Cylocross Championships at Strathclyde Park have been POSTPONED due to dangerous, icy conditions on the course. Please help spread the word by letting clubmates and friends know. From the Michael Martin of East Kilbride Road Club: "I've just been round the course again today, and even with the mild weather, we have had to take the unfortunate decision to CANCEL the SCX champs scheduled for Sun 9th Dec. The paths are thawing, but over refrozen ice which is making them ultra slippy. It may be okay by the morning, but I doubt it and we feel its better to cancel now, than in the morning after people have set off travelling. On behalf of EKRC, SC & SCX, we would like to offer our apologies and we will reschedule the event for early in Jan 2013. Please spread the word to as many as possible. We will email all competitors shortly."
  13. Hi Colin, I phoned the velodrome this morning and was told that their system was down and to call back this afternoon. I guess it was nearer 3.45 when I started phoning. Twice I phoned each time pressing the 5 button to book a session and each time it rang out. I phoned around 4pm for the third or fourth time and the system did not accept my pressing 5 (or even 555555) and a receptionist answered. Told me there was a session at 5pm. Did I know his validation number, no I said but I have regsitered him online. She checked and found his details and asked me to arrive slightly before 5pm. So, having printed instructions on how to get there, I rushed home to collect Hamish and set off for the velodrome. No traffic queues on the motorway but we turned right instead of left when we got to London Road, plus a section of London Road was closed. Arrived 15mins late, paid the money and collected a bike and shoes and Hamish joined the session. It all seems a bit vague really. Not sure how anyone knows if he has done a Junior 1 Accreditation course or not! cheers, James
  14. Hi, Hamish is keen to complete his Junior Accreditation 1 Session at the Sir Chis Hoy velodrome. Can someone explain how he should go about this please? Is it possible to have this done before the 15th December? Regards, James
  15. Anyone want to do a MTB long distance on saturday the 23rd of march in Callander Regards James https://www.britishc...ntain-Bike-Ride-
  16. Happy to consider a swap for any of the following: cycling training video/dvd. TV, DVD player, Cordless cycling computer, training rollers, etc.
  17. Hi Ramsay, I will ask the council to look at this road. If you can be a little more specific that would be helpful. For instance, are they in Renfrewshire or Inverclyde? Near which farm or turn off, which side of the road? Thanks, James
  18. Hi Jannza, Yes that also works well, but if you left a note here as well, it might prove as a useful warning to others. Thanks, James
  19. Hi, I have started this topic "Pothole Watch" on the Bunch Forum because if the AA can use members to report poor road conditions and potholes, then so can the Johnstone Wheelers. It should give a warning to other cyclists following this topic, of a poor stretch of road. I will forward all reports to the council in an effort to get road faults repaired as soon as possible. In addition, once it is reported, the council have a duty to make the road safe and if they fail to do that in quick time then they are liable for vehicle, including bike, breakages and personal injury. You can also leave your report at my Facebook page www.facebook.com/councillormaclaren Please leave as much detail as possible so that the defect can be found and repaired. For any photos, please send to my email address: [email protected] Thanks, James MacLaren
  20. Thanks Ian. That's helpful but I think I can get a secondhand one on eBay. j
  21. Davie, I enjoyed the beach with the Walkers last year. Certainly was challenging in the dark. As there are not so many cross races this year I would like to get a few more miles under my belt. So you can mark me down for this.
  22. Hamish and I could easily be tempted.
