  1. Kenny, I will be up for marshalling duties on this one - see you Sunday. Davie
  2. Hi Mark, Chung, I think part of the problem is that you will not get a definitive (official) answer to this (maybe to do with liability) as when I did web searches all I found were blogs with various peoples opinions. Some were like Chung who had experience of using the clamp type carrriers without issue, others were dead set against it. I suppose officially you could contact Ridley for advice but I could probably guess what the response would be My experience was really formed when I did a trial clamp on my frame and I chickened out before I put any meaningful pressure on the clamp as it just didn't seem to be the right thing to do and it doesnt help that CF frames tend to have non-regular profiling on their tubes either. This was before I did the web research which put me off further. Given the chance I would stick it in the boot. Sorry know this is no help
  3. Mark, Another thought ...if your forks have carbon drop outs they may not be suitable for clamping onto a carrier either......
  4. Mark, I am on the scrounge for a loan of a fork mounted cycle carrier ala Thule 561 type as I wouldn't use my current carrier which clamps around the down tube on my carbon frame. My advice is you shouldn't put any sort of compression on your carbon tubes as they are only designed to be loaded in a certain way. Others may disagree but it's a cracking frame you've got there so I personally wouldn't risk it. Davie
  5. Anybody got a fork mounted cycle carrier (Thule 561 type) to allow me to take carbon bike plus camping gear to Applecross. Would need it for the 1st week in September. Cheers, Davie
  6. Charlie, Agree rooms look great so no probs from my point of view. Davie
  7. Actually won't make it tonight after all Enjoy.
  8. Charlie, Looking at the frame specs I would also be looking for a "52" and will be bringing my own pedals. Cheers, Davie
  9. BTW.... Darryl - I have signed up for some fun / ritual humiliation (delete as appropriate ) at the Erskine Crit so if you can provide some sartorial elegance in the way of a Wheelers jersey it would be appreciated, I will go for the one with the "relaxed" fit. Also Colin have finally got your message re. the headset tool. As discussed I don't have the official tool any more but have a standard pin which lets me tighten mine OK I can bring this along if you are going to be around - let me know. Cheers, Davie
  10. Anybody up for a blast on Thursday night - 18:50 at Houston roundabout. It is agreed that the route taken the last couple of weeks is a bit of a classic so would be planning more of the same. Cheers, Davie
  11. Kenny, I have completed the on-line entry and rec'd confirmation so I will be there. As for representing the JW CC, is there any word when the summer clothing order will be available - appreciate you are probably sick of this question Cheers, Davie
  12. Will be there...........
  13. All, Will just have to slum it with Shimano that's me booked my flights. Something to look forward to. Cheers, Davie

Billy / Charlie, It will be an early start for me on Sunday so if I am late to the club rooms my number is: 0774 5992795. If you can post or PM your numbers I will give you a shout if I am pushed for time and decide to take the car to the ferry. P.S. Charlie you would make less typos if you dropped your dedication to cool kids txt spk - act yer age
  15. I will be along too ....one point it was pretty dark by the time me and Iain hit the cycle track the last time out (2 weeks ago?) so don't know if the routes can be modified to keep everybody a bit closer to a central point. Just a thought.... Cheers, Davie
  16. Cheers for the course details - enjoy yourselves tonight.
  17. Guys, Don't think I'll make it tonight but for future reference where exactly is the start of the "Westferry"
  18. Chung, Have tried to PM you but it is not coming up as sent or in outbox so not sure if you will get it? Anyway thanks for the offer but Ramsay has got one and he is really local so it is easier for me to pick up. (Thanks Ramsay will be in touch) Davie
  19. Can anybody give me a loan of the tightening tool for Ultra torque cups? Hope to fit them to my old winter frame so am going to go for the "horse it up" fitting method - rightly or wrongly Cheers, Davie
