Apart from losing his crank David also had a wee mishap at the Haylie traffic lights. Could not unclip quick enough, banged his knee against a waiting car's indicator, broke it and cut his knee. So we adjourned to cafe in Largs for a wee break. Anyway, Chung was peckish and in need of a bacon roll! An eventful day for you, David, and I hope you have recovered OK. See you out next time. 23. Ronnie, I should have mentioned in my earlier post - you are welcome to try my Boardman. It is 53 cm frame. Paul C
  24. Clubhouse to clubhouse would be about 25 miles. Ealine did well up the hills. Paul C
  25. I have had a Boardman Team Carbon for 3 months (1,000 miles +) and have have no problems with it. Acceleration is great when you put the boot down. It is a light bike - 8 kgs- and goes well uphill. As I am an older guy (59) and finding some of the very steep hills (Fairlie Moor) a trial I have changed the cassette from 12-25 to 11-28. Downhill the speed tends to top out at 35 - 38 mph. Regarding Halfords, the guys at the Paisley branch are excellent - especially David (owner of 5 bikes and member of Inverclyde Velo). The bike was properly set up and I have had no problems with it. I bought the new cassette online and Halfords fitted it for free when I took it in for its free 6 week service. I can only compare with my old alloy Specialised Allez but the Boardman is a lovely bike to ride and internet reviews support that. Paul C
