    curry night

count me in too. Fri best. i've not eatin in Shimla Pinks for years, it used to be good. Shimla Cottage is good but v pricey. we need to decide where the bevvy takes place as this might infuence curry location. i know its more hassle for people but Mother India in Glasgow is, in my option, the best curry house ever. happy to go with the flow though. al.
  2. chung, checkout the link below re Assos Repairs. it might be worth getting them sorted professionally. take care al. http://www.assos.com/en/23/warranty___r ... olicy.aspx
  3. Good day as kenny says.......oh except for the Motocross track that Martin took us across. i decided to stay in a safe 3rd as the race for the lead, across boulders, dirt and water, took place in front of me. it was exciting to watch and came to a head as Chung and Martin headed round a tight left-hander and onto a steep rough downhill section. Martin (with his cyclecross experience) managed to swerve in/out of the rough patches while Chung determined to take the lead decided to go straight over them. it was a spectaculer sight as young Mr Chung fought for control of his machine. Left foot came unclipped first, followed immediately with the right foot. what happened next was something out of a Laurel and Hardy film as Chung fought wildly for control. at one point i was sure he had saved it, but alass it all ended in disaster. his front tyre threw the towel in and down he went. sad sight indeed. but thankfully no major injury and after a few kind words from his fellow cyclists, he was back in the saddle and riding along the wind in his hair and also walfing gently across his left buttock where his good Assos shorts had ripped. cant wait till next sunday cu all at Tue TT. al.
  4. hi chung, yes to run this Sun. i need the miles. not bothered what route, etc. cu 9.15 at club. al
  5. hi, i'm not very good at the health/nutrition stuff, so wee question. i did the etape caledonian 1 month ago and felt superb, pushing quite hard for the whole 73 miles. however, last weekend i did the Cairngorm 100 and had a terrible time, felt totally dead, legs like jelly with no energy at all . i did have a 24hour sickness bug 3 days before the Cairngorm event, where i was sick (both ends ) and lost half a stone in weight. would being sick like this have been the reason? i must admit that i wasn't in a very positive frame-of-mind for the event, due to being sick, but anytime i tried to push it during the event, i got zero response from my body. i also know i didn't try because my average heart rate was only 136 for Cairngorm whereas it was 157 at Etape, but i honestly couldn't push myself any harder. should i have not taken part at all? anyone out there into this health stuff and can give some advice, in case i need it for future events? big ta, al. ps. going to try the Chocolate TT tonight, so will see how i feel at that.

  15. My thanks as well to Simon for a great run. I checked the rim-tape on big Dave's wheel, after the 2nd puncture, and it appeared okay. Probably just the punishment his "excess" puts on that poor wee tyre. Did I not see Chung scoff a Bacon Roll prior to the carrot cake though....where does he put it all I'll be out again this Sunday...yeehaa . Cheers, Al.
  16. Simon, sounds like a good run. Myself and Dave will join you. Will you be coming across the cycle path from Johnstone/Linwood and joining the Georgetown Road? If yes, we'll meet you at the Georgetown Rd T junction at 09.25/09.30. Looking forward to it. Ta, Al.

  20. kenny - sorry for not continuing with you up the hill at Helensburgh but i was running out of energy and given that i'm a skinny wee runt (unlike my mate dave ) i seriously needed the banana. ian - sorry i missed your post re meeting up with you and bill. i promise to check the website early doors on a sunday from now on. oh and you would have had no problem persuading me to the cafe stop....i was dreaming of a large coffee/carrot cake by the time we met you dave and i plodded on and got caught by the 09.30 bunch just past Balloch, when i had to stop for a rest as legs were to bits. i honestly did want to make it back to clubroom for soup and to get to meet more of you, but i'm afraid i had to head straight home from Erskine Br as i was dead by then. cu all next week, although i'm gonna need a cafe stop at 30 odd miles. anyone care to join me? al.
