  1. Right, a quick update.

After last week it is suddenly tight at the top of the table. There are now only three riders (in no particular order - John Simpson, Alan Holmes & Iain Couttie) that can take the league title. However, these three need a good showing this week, as there are a few others that could still do enough to push them out of the top three.

Remember that it is not all about comparing actual times, the scoring is based on handicap times.

    Have fun tomorrow night.

  2. Tuesday 20th July sees the final in the 2013 League of 10's series at the the West Ferry. Meet at 18:45 for first rider off at 19:00.

After the first 5 rounds (times for the 6th have not been posted yet) there were 13 riders still in with a chance of winning, so all to play for. Once I get the times for round 6, I will post up the names of those "in the running".

Can someone please be kind enough to timekeep.

    Hope you all enjoy.

  3. All,

Please see below and attached from Renfrewwhire Council. Do you know anyone that is worthy of being nominated?

Renfrewshire Council, in partnership with sportscotland, would like to recognise and reward the hard work and commitment of local coaches, officials and volunteers. The Renfrewshire Council Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering Awards are our way of saying a big ‘thank you’ to all the vital people working in sport in Renfrewshire. The contribution made by these individuals is immense, their dedication and hard work is central to ensuring excellent sporting opportunities for all in Renfrewshire.

These awards represent a unique way to recognise coaching, officiating and volunteering achievement across schools, clubs and communities in the area. Individuals can nominate coaches, officials and volunteers from across the area, either known personally or through school, club or local community activity. Winners will go forward in to the national sportscotland awards, which in turn are connected to the Sports Coach UK Awards, held annually in London.

  5. Guys and Girls, as winners in 2011 and runners up in 2012, it would be great to see a big turn out from JWCC to see what we can do in the 2013 Georgetown Cup. Don't forget the Georgetown Pie, which was won by the Johnstone Shielas in 2012.

Below are some details posted by Geoff Smith (organiser) on Braveheart:

This years Georgetown Cup takes place on Saturday 7th September and will be in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Charity..

It would be great to see all the clubs sending out a team this year- it's a great event and the 'inter club' aspect makes it a lot of fun. Last year it was host club Glasgow Couriers who took the honours but we already have a massive entry from bronze medalists Fullarton Whs along with the largest club entry in event history from Glasgow Green CC.

Dont forget , the format remains the same - enter as many as you like and its the fastest 8 from each club on the day that makes up the teams time.

Last year also saw a closely contested battle for the coveted Georgetown Pie - the defending champions from 2011 , Walkers CC, felt sure they had it in the bag - even bringing along their own knife to share out the spoils- but they hadn't counted on everyones favourite team - The Johnstone Sheilas , who dug extra deep and pulled out an abysmal performance to lift the award.

Once again we will be holding the Flying Scot Rally - so dig out your vintage bikes and bring them along for the display. Martin Wilson took the prize for fastest Flying Scot last year and will hopefully defend his title but rumours are circulating that big George McCarter is intending to mount a challenge....

Last year we raised a whopping 1500 for Accord Hospice so lets see if we can match that total this year and have a bit of fun while we are at it!

  6. Ian,

I would imagine that there will be a 30 milers run this weekend, although it does sometimes depend on individual's availability and of course the weather (there are some, including myself, who can be fair weather cyclists at times)!

Keep checking the club runs section.

Hope you manage to get out and enjoy the run with the club.

    Cheers,

    Ramsay
