  1. An 18.33 for me on what seemed to be a bit of a strange night with a headwind on the way back but not much of a tail wind on the way out.......... Probably just me being slow tho

  3. If there's anyone out there like me who will still be snoozing at 0730 that fancies a 0930 start then please post here....... Was thinking about Largs via Kilbirnie, Brisbane Glen, Cornalees, Inverkip, Gourock, Greenock, (Whin or Clune) depending on time and legs, Kilmacolm and home . Good steady pace with no proposal of cafe stop at this moment Can't make Sundays Peebles ride but this might be a good warm up for those who can Colin.
  4. Sorry Frank........ Work commitments mean I will be in Manchester next week and will miss the first of the TTT's on the Georgetown Very inconsiderate of my employer, I thought, not to have made the arrangments for this week especially considering I would have made all the events at the Track Worlds Colin
  5. Make that 7 punctures After I sent mark and David on their way just before Bonhill as I was gubbed, I got my third puncture of the day This time in the rear wheel. Limped to Balloch where the MRS came to fetch me (probably just as well as I might not have made it back even without the puncture ) Saw the remainder of the bunch passing through Dumbuck as we were on our way to Duck Bay for easter lunch at 15.45 Colin
  6. Hi Chung, I suppose as the first to post that you are group leader for Sundays run I intend to be there so expect that you will have a suitably testing course for us all Cheers Colin
  7. Kenny, I was looking for 1 pair medium in size. Will collect when I can but don't think I will make it on Thursday. Cheers Colin
  8. Big thanks to all involved in the organising and running of this very informative evening. I' am sure we all came away with plenty of food for thought.... Also big thanks to Davie for hanging back to lock up after all us speed freaks had pumelled Sean and Donald for as much info as possible Will send out photos taken on the evening as soon as John forwards them onto me. Cheers Colin.
  9. Leader duties were bestowed upon me this morning when I turned up for the 9am run. Old MacD was suffering from suspected cracked ribs as a result of a bicycle polo incident on Friday night. Upon further enquiry young James informed us that including this injury there was a split head an a broken arm as well!!!! (looks like anyone going for self defence classes should just get along to Linwood on a Friday night with a fixed bike and join in there instead. These guys can obviously handle themselves). So we set off on the dot of 9. Young MacD, John J, Greg, Mark Whitehead and myself. We headed out through Howood and turned towards Lochwinnoch just past the Howood Inn where Mark was aparently disapointed that we were not just heading to the Caff in Lochwinnoch. Turning right towards the top of Johns Road low gears were engaged and a steady tempo set until James decided to open the pipes a bit towards the top. With a nice tailwind we headed off towards Kilmacolm and the high Greenock road heading for the top of the Whin (from the easy side obviously for my benefit). Passing a mountainbiker near the bottom Mark contemplated stealing his bike for use in the Flanders sportive... Over the top of the second rise and James self selecting Campag gears were playing up (I'm sure I have seen that mentioned on here before) and we all took great delight in sprinting past him with JJ first over the top. Onto the top of the Whin and instead of enjoying the fast descent we turned right and headed over to the Port. It was here that Johns luck turned for the worse with a mechanical following clattering through a pothole. Half way down the Clune and sharp right heading for the gunpowder and he then got the first of his punctures. James and Mark proceeded to hammer up the Gunpowder and time had to be allowed for the stragglers to see that we were heading for West Glen (so more climbing!!!!) Over West Glen and into Kilmacolm where we regrouped at the cross and discussed the delights of Pierries ice cream (YUM!!!) Greg was cajoled into continuing on and up Phils Folly where Mark showed impresive climbing speed to chase a tractor up the hill for most of the way. We then headed for BOW along the Barnbrock road where John got his second puncture. A good run out and although maybe slightly shorter than usual I was informed that we probably covered more climbs. Old MacD must be slipping a bit...... Special note must go to John and Greg who both considered chucking it in but persevered. Its these days that make the difference guys! Apologies for any spelling mistakes and for some reason these wee Emoticons seem not to be working today.
  10. Stevie, Have been keeping an eye on the weather forecast for Saturday and it doesn't look good Think I will just drive over to Moscow and ride the course for a warm up. Cheers Colin.
  11. Stevie, What time and from where are you leaving for the Moscow APR? Colin
  12. Anybody intending to do the Moscow APR this weekend? Hopefully the MRS will have recovered from her bout of ill health that ruled me out of the Super 6 Cheers Colin
  13. No probs Kenny, I'll take the shorts and top anyway however this will mean racing in old "Scottish leader" kit when TTing. Will this be a problem? Cheers Colin
  14. Kenny, You have me down for ss top and bib shorts Is this code for size 5 skinsuit? Ian, Can payment be made by paypal with collection from clubhouse when possible? Cheers Colin
  15. Not too good today guys I'm affraid Franks efforts to drag us round to a respectable time were a bit scuppered thanks to the application of a couple of senic detours off course and being asked each time he came through to ease off a bit Still I'am typing this while trying to console myself that it was the first event of a long season which can only get better (if not there might be a Specialized Transition going for a song in Wheels and Deals ) A couple of lessons were definetly learned today though so not all bad: 1. Time spent warming up is essential - the fast guys do this for a reason you know 2. Single speed training obviously works over the winter - Frank was flying 3. Just because a marshall is standing at a junction does not mean you should go that way 4. Bike set up is important ( I rekon if Frank had had this sorted I would have been blown to bits ) 5. Make sure your roof rack bike carrier is done up properly before setting off (now have dent in roof the size of a 105 pedal Ramsay and friend were doing this race also Hope you had a better time of it Colin
  16. 6th birthday party at sno zone prohibits my entry to the Don Smith Won't even be able to provide the piccies this year either I'm affraid
  17. I'll be there at 10 Sounds as if the sprint back to get some soup could well be hotly contested this week (possibly followed by a sprint for the loo ) Colin.
  18. Guys, Got the chance today to drive along the suspected route of the race. Good route with excellent surface but anyone who can ride away from the group on this circuit will be seriously strong Some small rises but not worthy of coming off the big ring. Anyone still in the hunt for the sprint for the line should be aware of the bridge at about 150m from the expected finish line. It has a slight s-bend over it which narrows the road from 2 lanes to less than one. Think I will stick an 11 tooth sprocket on for this one Colin.
  19. Thanks Duncan. Have been having trouble with my email but now have the message and have responded with the minimum information that I have. Pretty poor show this really. Easy to see things in hindsight but it might have been better to give juniors and women a seperate race altogether. Still you never know..... Maybe jim will be right about the ERC (think they're just running scared of the Joansin massive myself ) Colin
  20. I might be picking this up wrong but are they not only looking for information from those in the "A" race? I certainally have not recieved the email posted by Jim and am thinking therefore that I don't need to submit anything!!!!! (nothing to submit anyway being a newcomer to this road racing lark ) Colin
  21. Frank, Not so sure about superior tactical brain more just knowing where the sign was Great day out guys just a pity work gets in the way all the time or this couold be a regular thing
  22. Should'nt be a problem however don't hang around if I'am not there. If the wee one needs any treatment then another day off school might be required. Heres hoping everythings okay and I can be there. Cheers Colin.
  23. Hi Richard (sorry if I got it wrong ) I' am off on Wednesday but have to take my daughter for a dental check up at about 9am. Would hope to be ready for a run at about 11am. If this suits let me know and I will tag along with you. We are half way along the Georgetown so no problem to meet you in Erskine if thats the plan. Cheers Colin.
  24. Duncan, I will be there for the later group but am now worried that if I turn up at 10 I will miss you guys So once and for all can we clearly state the departure times for the groups and stick to them to avoid confusion please See you on Sunday (at some point) Colin
