  1. Chung, I think you are right about Frank at the Icebreaker, I think Colin and Ramsay are also doing it too. So from last weekends trip... Alan, Duncan, Frank, Colin and Ramsey will be missing. Not sure about the others Jim won't be held back by us slackers then Sounds like a small chase group Duncan
  2. have a good ride, will be working this weekend. Will wait to hear who got the soup first duncan
  3. Colin, you want piccies- here you go. avatar is evidence of a spin in the counrtyside, or more of a slide duncan
  4. Assuming that the arcane machinations of British Cycling regulations allow my entry tfor the Humbie Sup6r 6 to be accepted I will not be doing 30, 30 or 70 miles I shall be wearing off a hangover of biblical proportions after suitable post race rehdyration celebrating a joansin success success= all of us getting round in one piece total success= nobody dropped Duncan
  5. I have now had time to soak my impressive bruises, the kids were well impressed anyway, and time to see the results of my wrist x-rays (nothing broken, just being a wimp, unsympathetic orthopaedic opinion) I was reminded of something Alan had posted previously.... Now who was it that caused the crash... Where's Donald Finlay's number Maybe a new frame, new wheels from the compo Well, my summary of Sunday's ride: slippy on the roundabouts, busy on north side of river, Colin decends like a stone and the threee remaining fallers suffered up past the monkey house. Colin, shame you missed the cabbage and brussel sprout soup, I have some festering in a pot at home, I could post you some if you would like. There was a lot left, surprisingly Duncan ps. it wis the cooncil at fault for the crappy roads covered in diesel
  6. kenny, or anyone else that knows, is there any way of me getting into the clubrooms with some soup before Sunday? cheers duncan cabbage and brussel sprout consomme, mmmmmmmmm
  7. Jim, steady cruise, yeah right however, I am in for a laugh. Got to be good training for...well, Humbie..maybe Duncan
  8. no Colin, you too! my palmares will not take long to read. Once caught an arthritic granny on a shopper, mind you I had tri bars on. Still, a win is a win! duncan
  9. 2007 scottish cycling is going down the drain, nobody is coming to races any more please support us... 2008 thanks for supporting our new initiative, but we will now invite who we like based on our antiquated regualtions. You may have paid but you will not necessarily get a ride... Bonkers! evolutionary track of prospective new racers:
  10. kenny, sent you pm, think I can do soup. How many do you expect? is there a mpathingy of the route to whet the appetite? Have never been north of the river duncan
  11. from Scottish Cycling website, So in effect, if 80 women and juniors enter on the last day, they will take over the whole field in Race B, never mind all those that entered early on, before it became so popular. Surely that cannot be the case. First in line works and seems fair, ah well. Its great that the series seems to have generated such enthusiasm, but I am amazed by the application of the "rules" Mind you, it may just be Edinburgh Racing being terrified by the propect of the Joansin B team, seen out on the moors in close formation at high speeds round the Moscow circuit and apparently today round the Largs route. Dietary supplementation of cakes and extra strong coffee in Largs however, is being investigated by the appropriate authorities Duncan
  12. Alan and I have just been Kilmacolm, Lochwinnoch, Dalry, Largs, two big cappucinos each in the sun in Largs, Carrot and Banana cakes. Worked them off up brisbane Glen, watch out for the cattle grids this time February , cannae beat it Hope the weather stays for you tomorrow duncan
  13. well, we might be finished by the time you start then jim actually, you will hopefully find us in post race debrief, the pub
  14. 9.30 it is then winter bike sticking brakes 'n all duncan
  15. Colin and I have agreed to meet to go at 9.45, hope that is ok folks. any other takers? What about Frank and Arvid as pre March 1st training? Jim can show us how it is done in the premier league A race think I will bring bike with only one rear race blade unless I hear otherwise, or its raining duncan
  16. Seb, mudguards are expected at this time of year, of course the forecast is for dry weather on sunday, but hey, what does that mean. I have an additional question, I have fitted race blades to my summer bike and may venture out with it on sunday if the weather is half decent. I cannot fit the front guard due to the shape of the front fork. Will it be ok to use this with the rear guard only Duncan
  17. I think I have got the go ahead from the directeur sportif aka the missus. Having survived, just, the Daly singlespeed rocket last week, I suggested to him a ride in the 9.30 would be good. I will not repeat his reply suffice to say, I will be going on the later group I am hoping the clocks might go forward after 9.30 to allow a 9.45 start just a thought, 30 mins seemed a long time. SO, assuming Jim and I, do we have any other takers, Alan is at centreparcs, so will be a no show. Colin? Ramsay? any others? Humbie Super 6 race is now full, A and B race. The next one is Tour of Lowthers, it may be a good idea to put your name down early if you are interested, I am waiting to see how Humbie goes personally. I have copied what I think is the proposed route for the Lowthers cheers duncan http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-kingdom/leadhills/96380881
  18. well, if anyone wants to join the B race, it is now on a waiting list. Triathletes have been using Entry central for some time, it certainly seems to have worked in filling up the race. The A race is getting there too. The next race is Tour of the Lowthers, 5th of April, I guess it is likely to have a few hills in it. All the guys on the Autumn trip down there will know about that and will presumably be dying to enter . Kenny S, maybe you will give some general advice as to bridge expansion joint crossings I am off on holiday the next day so 'er indoors may veto my entering. On the other hand, I may have done so spectacularly badly at the first race that I may have already retired from racing cycling. A one hit wonder, and it wasnae even a hit at that duncan
  19. come on in, the water's lovely wheelers, second biggest club entry so far Oh no, next we will need to looking at tactics and the like, yeah right. mind you after getting a pasting by Jim who needs gears Daly on the reliability I may have bitten off more than can be chewed, ah well, WTF Duncan
  20. http://www.entrycentral.com/index.php yip, simple click on the race and vaa vaa voom, you are in, committed, ready to be peleton fodder I see one James Daly in the big boys race, some other names I recognise from race reports, doesn't look as though it is going to be a low class field. Still the B race has plenty of places for the Joansin, come March 1st. You just know it is going to be a beautiful spring morning with the wind always at your back. Duncan
  21. roads may be clear but it has just started snowing heavily in greenock at the moment, don't go too high! duncan
  22. sensible decision, does anyone know when the confined calendar is coming out? duncan tomorrow looks milder, but also wet and strong winds from the south
  23. ahemm, you might want to rephrase that Colin I am on call on saturday so cannot attend, sounds like it might be quite a night Colin, delighted you can join in this group, who are not chasing anyone down, as Alan said, but it wasnae it was Jim, whatever, i cannot see us catching anyone incidentally, much as it pains me, I agree with Alan about avoiding the A8, it scares me witless weather forecast looks intersting, but sunday is a long way away... it might get worse Duncan
  24. An edinburgh cyclist is suing the group leader for a serious neck injury due to supposed poor riding on his part. The leader is desribed as the person at the front of the group Maybe staying off the front will be more popular http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/7216217.stm another one, almost makes you wonder if it is a wind up. Fortunately not in this country although, the continent is supposed to be more bike friendly, not the case here it would seem. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gnYGQfJrrKsp-WFxi8wk8hy7mb-QD8UD2HM01?loc=interstitialskip the world has gone mad duncan
  25. holy cow, now I am really bricking it. Can I cancel the cheque Duncan Main race- chapeau
