1. This link may be of use: http://www.johnstone-wheelers.co.uk/thebunch/index.php?/topic/1762-medium-gear-pipeopener/ Also here is a link to the route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4217960 ...I think Alan got it right.
2. Price reduction - this superior fitness tool (one careful owner) can now be yours for just £100 Here is a photo of what you will get: https://www.flickr.com/photos/97143357@N07/13017723753/ Ideal for anyone who likes to combine running with cycling. (I like running but my knees don't, unfortunately).
3. Yes I saw you and someone else I didn't recognise, followed closely by Paul Cooper. Hope you had a good day out before the rain came on...I was only out for about 90mins, that's all I had time for. Also saw - Iain Couttie (battering down the hill in Kilbarchan at boy-racer speed Martin Sherry (on the track, heading out towards Lochwinnoch)
4. Garmin Forerunner 210 HRM with chest belt and two bike mounts. About 18 months old, perfect working order. £180+ worth of kit. Looking for £110 Here is the Forerunner: http://www.chainreac...or/rp-prod63271 ...and here is the bike mount (I'm selling two of them) http://www.chainreac...c-/rp-prod44106 Phone/text me on 07896-153853 if interested. I'm in Kilbarchan if you wish to collect. Thanks Tony
5. I have a 19" Panasonic TV that I no longer need. It is a CRT model, about 10 years old but in perfect working order. It is a colour TV and has a remote control which means you do not have to get out of your seat to change channels. Also you can turn the volume up and down...and adjust the brightness/contrast... Yours for no money whatsoever. Phone me on 07896-153853 if interested. Thanks Tony
6. Hi Folks I'm selling our Burley trailer as both children have now grown out of it - our youngest is now almost 5 and at the "tagalong" stage. It's a single-seat model which I originally got second-hand on eBay for about £100. I think it is a Burley Solo but not as swanky as the current Solo model - more like the Bee but in a single-seat version. It's been well-used and the yellow parts of the fabric are a bit mildewed but other than that it's in fine working order. It can be taken apart very easily and flat-packed to fit in the boot of your car. Photos here: http://www.flickr.co...157633999660959 You can get me on 07896-153853 if you are interested. Thanks Tony
7. Good to see you again today. Sorry I couldn't stay long, had to attend a suspected case of sheep-rustling in the Auchentiber area. (Farmwatch patrol is a serious business)
8. Route plan for Sunday is now up on the website: http://www.ctcglasgow.org.uk/
9. CTC members were: Mark Munro Bob Downie John McNaughtan Peter Hayman me Peter does a lot of campaigning work, in fact he is Scotland's representative on the CTC National Council: http://www.ctc.org.u...il/peter-hayman
10. Hey Brian I'll be out tomorrow. Could you make 0915? I'm meeting up with someone else at 0900. We could swing by Miller St before setting off. We're planning to do more or less what you suggested: 40-50 miles, plenty of hills, no cafe stop... Thanks Tony

Spied a Wheeler

Yes that was me on the Gateside Road, Kay. I thought it must have been you but you had the sun at your back so I wasn't sure. Wasn't it a lovely day? I heard a woodpecker drumming in a tree near Finlaystone. That's the second one I've heard this month whilst out on the bike.
12. Nice run out today, 5 hardy souls, good to catch up with everyone! The overnight rain and milder temperatures did a good job of clearing the ice away - not a trace of slippery stuff even on the singletrack roads.
13. Forecast is now for heavy rain. I'll make a decision in the morning about whether I'm going out or not. Have already done lots of miles this week and don't need any more wet ones - got a good soaking yesterday from the snow/sleet.
14. OK If I'm going out now it will be with Chung's group - see this thread: http://www.johnstone-wheelers.co.uk/thebunch/index.php?/topic/5668-saturday-26th-january-sunday-27th/
15. Hi Chung yes if you're out tomorrow I'll probably join you. I had seen Iain's "Saturday run" post but Saturdays don't suit me so that's why I started this thread. What was your route again - The alternative can be Jonhstone - Bowfield - Lugton - Stewarton - Part Moscow circuit - A77 - Whitelee Windfarm - Eaglesham - Newton Mearns - Neilston - Home. Approx. 50ish miles I think, maybe more! What time you starting? The mornings are getting brighter, I'd go for 0900 if I were you... Thanks Tony
16. Planning to go out for a few hours on Sunday morning, just thought I would run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes? Here is the plan: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/939317 46 miles, moderately hilly, mainly unlisted roads (with variable surface quality). No cafe stop. Leaving Miller St at 0900. Back in Johnstone by 1230-ish. As of 1800 today there was quite a lot of snow/slush around on the back roads, but I'm expecting it all to be gone by Sunday morning based on the detailed Met Office forecast for the area. If that looks like changing I'll update this thread. Post here if interested. If no posts I might tag along with one of the other two groups, for a while at least.
17. Planning to head up to Gleniffer Braes tomorrow morning for 3-4 hours on the trails and paths, anyone else interested? If so I will see you at Miller St at 0900. I need to back by 1300. I will be riding my commuting bike which is a fully-rigid MTB with semi-slick tyres (a hybrid, basically). You could come along on a cyclocross bike if you have one.
18. A bit more hilly than I remember but good roads, some long climbs and a couple of fantastic descents. Roll call: me JohnC Bill Thomson Ken Mac Alan Broadfoot Chris (Alan's mate) Michael (Alan's mate) Steve McFarlane (Paisley Velo) "Fereneze" John (Paisley Velo) Headwind for the last 30 miles and a soaking right at the end but a good day out nevertheless
19. I was asking because I think it might be a good idea to introduce nested subforums in one or two areas. How about splitting the Club Runs forum into three: Weekend Club Runs Midweek Training Runs Other ...the last category would be for all those "I'm on back-shift, got a few hours spare, anyone up for a run" type posts. The reason I'm suggesting this is because of the very high churn rate in the Club Runs forum.
20. Looks like we might get a bit wet towards the end of the run but generally OK. There are a couple of options to shorten the ride if the weather closes in earlier than the forecast suggests. I'd say it's a goer - see you at 0815 tomorrow. My mobile number is 07896-153853 if you need to text/phone me in the morning Thanks Tony
21. Car-pooling details for the Johnstone/Paisley contingent: I'm giving John a lift down but can take one more person plus bike (as long as you don't mind your bike being carried on a roof-rack). I think BillT and Ken are likely to be travelling down together but not sure. Forecast for Eskdalemuir looking quite good so far:
22. Is this an upgrade to phpBB3, by any chance?
