  1. Thanks to everyone who tried pacing me back to the bunch when I got dropped for the umpteenth time Managed to ride back as far as Langbank before I caught the train back to Hillington and rode home from there so managed just on 50 miles which I'm fairly happy with given I haven't done more than riding to work since October. Few more weeks of htat and I might last the distance. Thanks again guys.
  2. Most of the current training theory stuff suggests that a combined protein/ carbohydrate drink or bar taken within 20 minutes of finishing a ride aids recovery. Zipvit do a load of sports nutrition products including drinks and bars. You can get a box stashed with gels, drinks powders etc from tehir site www.zipvit.com/success Costs £4 to cover P&P The protein drinks are pretty disgusting tasting IMHO but the bars are pretty good. As lancelogan says teh protein stuff certainly hels overnight recovery
  3. Cheers Kenny. How much is it for the club confined events now - It's been a few years since I last did one. Think I still had down-tube shifters then..... i've as much chance of winning as a one legged donkey given how I go up hills. If a miracle does happen I can always treat the better half to a night out.
  4. Can I ride even though I'm not officially a member at the moment although I will be re-joining for next season? Cheers Neil
  5. I need to learn to read properly. I thought it was 9:30 for the Thirty Miler Ended up getting a tow at the back of the 9:30 bunch down to Glengarnock and cutting round the back end of the RNAD and back home via Lugton etc. Cheers to the guys in the later bunch for the tow down to Glengarnock. Should hopefully make it for 9:00 next weekend work permitting
  6. I headed down through Howwood as I had to be back home for the back of 12:00 instead of blowing totally over mount top. Good to be back on the back roads of Renfrewshire complete with the grass and other guff in the middle of the road. Now if only the legs thought the same way and I can avoid yo-yoing off the back quite so much
  7. I should be there as well... for the first time in about 4 years.
  8. I've been thinking about getting back out on the bike. This gives me the perfecte xcuse/reason to get dropped every week again. Can't make the next 2 weeks due to weddings and work but should hopefully make it along in a couple of weeks. Are the runs still leaving from the clubrooms?
  9. Hi Stephen. I've just read that on the Pedal for Scotland website. Headwind all the way from Edinburgh plus getting up at some ungodly hour to get through to there for the start. Still makes it easier getting home after the event ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10. I read in The Herald today that it's already being nicknamed "The Hell of the North-West2 in honour of Paris-Roubaix and it's equally poor stretches of road surface I tried to get the 30th of August off but since my boss is onn Holiday I can't get time off for it which is pretty poor. Also according to The Herald website there's going to be a Crit in George Square the day before and the Pedal for Scotland Charity Ride through to Edinburgh is on Sunday 28th which starts the build up to the race start. Pretty much gives something for all levels of cyclists. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've now managed to get contact details for The Extra. I'll have a shuftie through and send them a list of recent results for the guys at the Club and send them off. At the moment I still don't know when I'm going into hospital but it should be within the next month or so. Hopefully I should only be laid up for a couple of weeks but getting back out may take a bit longer. Can I ask that if anyone is racing if they can drop me some details about the race and placings etc either by PM or e-mail to [email protected] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  14. My run was a wee bit different I pulled my foot out of the pedals going up teh really steep bit of the climb towards Kilbirnie Couldn't get going again so had to walk up the hill When I got down to Kilbirnie I couldn't see the rest of the peloton and got stuck at the roadworks Headed round to the Wall at Glengarnock - bypassing Lochshore cut across to the RNAD and over to Barmill before heading back down towards Barrhead Funny how a tailwind makes you feel like you're going really well ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  15. There's a readers poll in the comic this week. It's available on the Cycling weekly website. Various categories including best achievement and best track rider, rider of the year. etc, etc Ideal opportunity to vote for some of our riders for what they've achieved this year ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16. Generally Spybot & Zonealarm will work pretty well in picking up this sort of rubbish and getting shot of it and they're also pretty straightforward to run. Ad-aware is also a good piece of software to install as it picks up some bit's and bobs Spybot doesn't. There's also AVG/Grisoft anti-virus which can be downloaded. Zonealarm has a free trial of the "Pro" version on the go at the moment which includes a cache cleaner to clear out temp files which is pretty useful as well. All of this stuff is free as well and has free updates as well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  17. Strange thing about this is that my young Brother-in-Law had to give a statement to the police earlier this year as there was a guy hanging about Darnley with a red, black & yellow cycling jersey which would fit in with the Glenmarnock colours who was trying to video a couple of young girls at a swing park. I think this was round about June or July. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18. Can anyone recommend any of the above. We've got a few bits a bobs needing done around the place and given that I'm completely inept at anything resemblign DIY . It'll be easier to get someone in to do it. If anyone can recommend anyone can they let me know either by PM or e-mail Ta much ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
